Absolutely delightful. I needed something light and fluffy and would make me laugh, and this was perfect.

I loved this one! Such a fun premise! Delightful. This is my favorite by this author yet.

5⭐ I grabbed this book on a whim to fit a reading prompt and much to my surprise, not only was it enjoyable, it was an absolute delight. It was a perfect example of what I look for in a romance novel. It wasn't deep and profound, but it was fun and moving, and it was delightfully quick-witted and funny. I found myself laughing out loud several times and yet moved to tears at the moments of tenderness.
After reading those political thrillers with monsters and conspiracies, I needed something light-hearted. This was perfect. I love Tessa Dare‘s books and loved reading about Maddie & Logan‘s story.
Also, there are 3 bonus epilogues on her website! 🎉
I have been up all night bc of my allergies. I picked this up off of my donate pile on a whim a few hours ago and I am I really enjoying it.❤ I don't really read much anymore (bc 2020) so this has been really nice despite not being able to sleep.
Funny, sexy romance. The best kind!
Though I‘ve liked some of Tessa Dare‘s romances, this one was not my favorite. Just not enough substance to it, though I did enjoy the location and scientific themes along with the letter-writing setup.
⭐️⭐️1/2
Very sweet and sexy! Definitely a good one to read if you are new to romance!
Inventing a fiancé who lives in another country just to get out of going to society parties is such a big introvert mood. Madeline was an enjoyable heroine to read and I loved the premise of her imaginary Captain MacKenzie turning out to be a real person coming back to cash in on getting married. It was a fun read but the plot wore on a little too long in this one.
I began this book w/the prologue on Thursday night. On Friday night, I settled in to read a chapter or two & read straight through until I finished the book at 3 A.M. If that doesn't tell you how fun this book (series/author) is, then I can't help you. Maddie & Logan are so ridiculously difficult & yet such a delight to read. I literally giggled & smiled through their interactions. Oh, and yes, the romance is not just sweet, but a bit steamy too.
I should be sleeping, but this book keeps making me smile!
The premise of this one cracked me up: young lady invents a Scottish captain who she claims to be betrothed to, even sending him letters, to avoid crowds b/c social anxiety. But turns out, he exists and he got all her embarrassing letters, and threatens to expose her lies unless she marries him. But for some reason I didn't love their story, and I really didn't like the end. 🤷🏼♀️

A solid 4🌟Romance. I kept envisioning Sam Heughan from Outlander. Didn't hurt either.
Well this was an unexpected foray into historical romance but oh Lord was it a beautiful one. Funny, sassy, smart and not a simpering female to see. A solidly great read.
Excellent plot but haphazard execution. I wanted to like this one more than I actually did.
In order to get out of participating in a season, Maddie makes up a Highland sweetheart who has gone off to war. Turns out, he exists, and many years later shows up to claim her and the Scottish castle she's living in. Both get more than they bargained for.

“I think you underestimate my capacity for taking normal human interaction and making it awkward.”
― Tessa Dare, When a Scot Ties the Knot
I don't know yet if I like contemporary romance that much, but I really liked the other Tessa Dare book I read so I'm giving this a try!

Madeline Gracechurch is so painfully shy that being in a crowd triggers panic attacks. In order to avoid the social scene, she invents a fiancé, writes him letters for years, and eventually tells everyone he died in the war. Imagine her surprise when a hunky Scottish soldier, Captain Logan MacKenzie, shows up at her doorstep to blackmail her into marriage.
An entertaining historical romance. Loved it!
My best buddy Frankie is making it a little hard to read tonight. But I‘m okay with it. #dogcuddles #dogsoflitsy
Just returned from the pool. Now it‘s time for some light summer reading. Happy Memorial Day Weekend! #gratefulforthesacrifice #unofficialstartofsummer
Ever wondered about the mating habits of lobsters? Look no further! This is a fun, banter-filled #romance with a heroine who seems to suffer from an anxiety disorder and has pet lobsters. I listened to the audio which is well-narrated by Carmen Rose.
At one point, I felt like the narrative went on a little long. It could've ended way before it actually did, and I would've been happy. #romantsy
I'm going between a handful of books right now in different formats. This and A Daring Arrangement by Joanna Shupe are my faves of the few. I'm tired of looking at screens though so I'm mostly listening to audio.
Tessa Dare definitely offers some great comfort when you're tired/stressed/worried. #romantsy
That moment when all those ridiculous letters you wrote to your imaginary boyfriend are received by a real live Scotsman who happens to share the same name...and now he‘s here to take over your castle and make you his bride...
A well crafted story, balancing ridiculous hilarity, with realistic plights, and a love story bound to steal your heart! There were snorts, guffaws, and a few tears. And a pet lobster. I loved this book!

This was such a fun fast read, as has been every Tessa Dare novel I've read so far. Pure escapism.
Guys, this book. Both characters had a lot of growing up to do but it was great to watch. They are clever and the banter is wonderful. Both had very different hang ups but they manage to help each other despite their advasarious beginning. Also, lobsters. Just saying they provided some hilarity that was unexpected. #romantsy
Another #bookmail today. I got this slovenian edition from Christmas Book Gift Exchange in slovenian book club called Lost in Romance Books. I also got bookmark, christmas ornament and tote bag.

I loved the premise of this one! Another Tessa Dare winner, my obsession with her books continues 😄 #romantsy
Absolutely genius premise: heroine pens letters to a made up sweetheart on the battlefront. Then guy with the same name shows up on her doorstep years later with her letters and starts making trouble for her. Lots of hijinks, lots of banter. Love!
Wouldn't rate this high for historical accuracy, but it was a fun read
Still having major issues with migraines and all the symptoms that come with them beyond just head pain. Only had enough brain power for something light, and this fit the bill. Again, bizarre situations, hilarity, and a great cast of characters. There were many times I burst out laughing and I really needed that today. #romantsy
This is the only the second romance novel I've read in its entirety, so I'm not an expert by any means. All I know is that Tessa Dare warmed my heart in ways I never expected a romance novel to.
This book is just to die for! This book is literally about a girl, Maddie, who wrote love letters to a fictional Capt. MacKenzie who turns out to be no fictional character at all and actually waltz up to Maddie‘s front door and forces her to marry him, and let me add MacKenzie is no ugly Scottish brute, but the most drop dead gorgeous muscular Scottish man.
I started listening to (and LOVING) the NYPL podcast The Librarian is In! I listened to the cheesy Valentine's Day reads episode yesterday. Gwen totally sold this title. Fortunately my mom in law is a voracious historical romance novel reader and had this title in her collection!
What a fun romance. Just what I needed!!!
Endulging in guilty pleasure reading this morning (you'd think all the Star Trek reading was guilty pleasure reading. Nope. 😂)
I used to feel guilty about my love of romance. People like to judge. So I kept quiet about it for a long time until I just stopped caring about what people thought. Romance makes me happy. #guiltylove #17booklove
