I am a MESS 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I bought this book because so many of you and my GR friends loved it. I didn't think I'd like it because I have no interest in Hollywood, glamour, fame and all that jazz.

At its heart though, this is a book about love. About all sorts of love. Romantic love, intimacy, friendship, admiration, sacrifice, infatuation, desire...

And now I think I need a glass of wine or something.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five SHINING stars

JenReadsAlot Great book! 3d
RaeLovesToRead @JenReadsAlot I'm an emotional wreck! 3d
Bklover I didn‘t read this for ages because I didn‘t like the cover 🙄. When I finally did I loved it! 3d

squirrelbrain Great review - I didn‘t think I‘d like this either but ended up loving it! 3d
RaeLovesToRead @squirrelbrain I found it really moving 🥲 3d
marleed I‘m fascinated how it‘s readers‘ discovering TJR after Daisy Jones, went back through her catalog, discovered this and read it all the way to becoming a NY Times bestseller a full 3 years after the publish date. Way to go readers and sites like this where we get to talk books with so many other book lovers out there! 3d
RaeLovesToRead @marleed Oh wow, I'd not thought about it but you're right! 🙂 This was my first TJR and I would definitely consider reading another 💚 I'm worried I'll be disappointed though because I loved this one so much! 3d

There is something about her writing that I can‘t put my finger on, but I absolutely LOVE. I remember feeling the same after I read Daisy Jones and the Six. All I can say is, this book is a big yes for me. Scandal, heartache, success, lust, love and spice. This book truly has it all, including an out loud “whoa, didn‘t see that coming” moment.

quote
RaeLovesToRead

"I wanted to give her a lot of things. I wanted what I had to be hers. I wondered if this was what it felt like to love someone. I already knew what it was like to be IN LOVE with someone. I'd felt it, and I'd acted it. But to LOVE someone. To care for them. To throw your lot in with theirs and think, Whatever happens, it's you and me."

"People think that intimacy is about sex. But intimacy is about truth. When you realise you can tell someone your truth, when you can show yourself to them, when you stand in front of them bare and their response is "You're safe with me" - that's intimacy."

I thought the book was entertaining right from the start. Set in old Hollywood, how could it not be 🤷‍♀️ it also created great conversations at the book club meeting!

My favorite line in the book was on page 141 “Heartbreak is loss. Divorce is a piece of paper”. So straight to the point, no nonsense…..just like Evelyn Hugo

"There's absolutely no reason a man like Don Adler should have a different effect on me from the rest of the men in the world. He was no more handsome than Brick Thomas, no more earnest than Ernie Diaz, and he could offer me stardom whether I loved him or not. But these things defy reason. I blame pheromones, ultimately."

This was so good! I'm not particularly interested in reading about celebrity lives but a fictional one did just fine and I loved reading about her life. I did not expect that ending!

I just love a bit of old Hollywood.
Fun, scandalous and a little sad.
I wish Evelyn was real.
This is my second book written by Taylor Jenkins Reid and she doesn't disappoint, looking forward to reading more of her stuff.

Lots of reading tonight cuz dinner is from McD‘s to support Ronald McDonald House Charities

EvieBee It‘s a sacrifice but we do what we can right? 😆😉 MCD‘s is always a treat in this house. 2w
mcctrish @EvieBee that‘s right on both counts!! 🤣🤣 truthfully all day I was just “I can get through this day cuz dinner is taken care of !” 2w
CuriousG I only eat McDonald's on McHappy day...and then I eat too much. Lol. My supper involved a milkshake that I'm not sure was a good idea. 😀 2w
mcctrish @CuriousG we don‘t get McDonald‘s very often ( and never for dinner) I am a fan of their Egg McMuffins. That milkshake would have put me over the edge for sure 🤣🤣 but YAY for all the Littens celebrating McHappy Day 2w

Sometimes not reading books in chronological order ( even when they aren‘t a series) has moments of pure joy!! Like when you recognize a character from a future book that you have already read ❤️❤️❤️ I feel like I‘m a cool kid

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo I was soooo excited to
read you however I got disappointed it wasn't what I was
expecting it to be. For me it's such an ordinary book I don't get why it's so over hyped I tried to enjoy it.….I did……. It is a lovely book it's just not for me.

This author is really one of my go to‘s when I want a solid read. All the social platforms are all about this one and for once the hype is deserved. Evelyn Hugo is both hero and villain of her own story and boy what a story. I confess I was sucked into this one and read it in one sitting. #LGBTQ+ #readingchallenge2022

I read and enjoyed Malibu Rising first a few months ago and loved how Mick Riva was part of this book. Definitely unlike anything I have read before and filled with so many touching and unconventional examples of unconditional love. Tragic and beautiful story.

This is a love story. You might not think that someone who marries seven times understands love, but this story shows that love is complex. Love through the decades of a Hollywood starlet is quite intriguing. I definitely recommend!

Wow. It's been a long time since a book had me reading past my bedtime. Once I got started couldn‘t put it down. Yes, you have to suspend belief in a couple places but still has you hooked.
