Loved this book for #AuthorAMonth. I‘ve read other books by Taylor Jenkins Reid so she‘s not a new to me author. I am enjoying reading more books by her.

This was not the book for me. While well written and I didn‘t want to bail, I‘m neither that interested in the world of movie stars nor romance, and it was not the romance for me. I felt like this smacked of poor little rich girl syndrome, or first world problems. I don‘t want to ding it because it just wasn‘t my genre. I didn‘t hate it or even dislike it. I just didn‘t like it very much. #authoramonth @Soubhiville

I decided to start with #AuthorAMonth this February. Enjoyed a greek salad, ginger ale and the beginnings of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo on my lunch at work today. Not very far into it yet but it is a pleasant read so far. I'm not a big fan of Hollywood so I'm curious to see to what extent I'll enjoy this book.

A blisteringly great summer read that was a real page turner. Said to be a loose weaving of the lives of Gina Pareño, Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardener and Rita Hayworth rolled into one it certainly leaves you with the sense that Evelyn was a real historical figure! Loved the strong #femalecharacters who through the journey told over decades, discover themselves and the real value of life. Great twist at the end, a recommended read!

I finished reading “It Begins with Us” and very much enjoyed…and right as the cast was announced for the movie! So excited!

A really fun read, with a great twist. I found that I really appreciated the historical context, which is surprising for me because i usually steer clear of historical fiction. Anyway, I was afraid it was overhyped, but it's definitely not!

Quick, easy read with Hollywood glamour aplenty. I don‘t understand all the hype this book has gotten, it fell rather flat for me. The twists at the end weren‘t particularly that shocking or gripping. There were some touching moments thrown in, however, I was disappointed overall.

I have very mixed feelings about this novel. I absolutely loved it right until the end. Everything that went down after the plot twist didn‘t sit right with me. Something just felt wrong; however, everything before that was amazing. The novel was so intriguing. The complexity of the characters and the reality of Hollywood was amazingly well-written and genuine. There were some things that didn‘t sit right with me, but overall, a wonderful read.

I‘m late to the party. I‘m just grateful that I finally made it. 🖤

Y‘all. This book. I had so many feelings throughout this book, for so many of the characters! I just stayed up a little late to finish it! Wow! What a crazy read, I‘m so glad that @katiekat311 chose it for me, for #auldlangspine and @Princess.ofthe.pages has been trying to get me to read it for awhile now! This was also a #roll100 book for me! Thanks to @monalyisha for organizing! Moving on to the next book on my list!

I realize it‘s a bit early but I can be a slow reader so I‘m starting this one now for #authoramonth in February. It was a Christmas swap gift some years ago from @Scochrane26 so I‘m very excited to finally get to read it.

If only books could win Oscars.. Just spent the last 60 pages trying to hold back tears, I was unsuccessful. Beautifully written. So much emotion and detail and several gasp worthy surprises. When I closed the book for the last time, I sighed. My husband asked if I was okay and I said Yes with tears running down my face. What a read.💚

Was I going to make a witty post about this book? Yes. Am I too busy sitting on the floor crying my eyes out to do that? Also, yes.

About halfway through and my old Hollywood heart is so happy. I love black and white movies and this is such a great take on what it was like to become an actress back then. So much emotion and glamour, both good and bad.

I now completely understand everyone‘s love for this book and author. I don‘t know why it took me so long to read it but I‘m so glad I did. The story has such a nice tone and the switch between husbands while still going back and forth from the interview to the past wasn‘t confusing or misleading, it was perfection.

Immersive from the start, I really enjoyed this book and the narrative that unfolded from both POVs.

Sunset from two days ago. We‘re back to a grey day today, but on the other hand, I woke up to 52F. …not bad for a year spent studying in graduate school. I‘m glad I still find fun books to escape in, even when I should be spending a little more time actually hitting the school books!

First up for January #roll100 … @PuddleJumper

A complex picture of a celebrity, her peaks and lows in life, her true love and the toxic environment of the glamorous Hollywood.
The story is told from two POVs of Evelyn Hugo and the journalist Monique Grant. While the life of Evelyn is told, the link to Monique's life is slowly made. I had suspicions on it but nevertheless the twist was nicely revealed with drama and heartache. A thrilling read.

For April I had to choose between the allure of The Glass Hotel & the romance of Evelyn Hugo. In the end, I went on my star rating, which - I'm learning - isn't always a reliable marker (comparatively speaking.)

This story of forbidden love & hunger for fame got under my skin and the way it all tied together knocked my socks off.

I was surprised by how much I loved this book given how indifferent I am to Hollywood and stardom.

Different, interesting story but did not keep me engaged. The end was underwhelming. Personally not relatable in any way.

Unfortunately I think this book was too hyped up for me and I had too high expectations going in. It was enjoyable and a unique story but the writing felt too simplistic verging on bland and I wasn‘t particularly captivated by any of the characters. The ending also felt a bit anticlimactic. I think for me the whole thing just lacked a bit of depth. But I do think I would have enjoyed it more had I had lower expectations going in.

22 #94 Not what I thought it would be but I finished it.

This is the second TJR book I‘ve read and I loved this one. The first was Daisy Jones and The Six and I was not a fan of that one. But, I couldn‘t put this one down! I flew through it because I just had to know Evelyn‘s story. I was in tears at the end and it ripped my heart out at times. I. Loved. It!

I love love love this book! It was an all consuming novel that was my reason to get up in the morning some days. The end made my jaw drop, and it was better than I had ever expected.

This was good, not great. It seemed repetitive in parts. There is a twist at the end which was interesting.

This was very good. Reid seems to know how to invent a great story and let it seem like it‘s telling itself. Evelyn and her biographer juxtaposed nicely. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This was a pick but only just. I don‘t know it just didn‘t do it for me. I found a lot of the dialogue cringey. I also picked the twist.

I don't know if it is a #BookSpinBingo when one book was DNF - but I was close 🙂
