Hooray! I finished one whole book during this #deweysreadathon!
I was hesitant when I saw this one had been made into a TV series (apparently set not in Australia as the book is but in Monterey, CA, where I lived for a few years as a child, although probably in a less-tony part of town than the show), but I really enjoyed it. The mystery unfolds in a compelling way, and the characters are messy, complex, and (mostly) believable.
#deweysoct
This is what I love about reading multiple books at once: Finding little coincidences like these two similar passages about nurturing grudges, one from Leigh Bardugo's Crooked Kingdom and the other from Liane Moriarty's Big Little Lies. I find it kind of comforting, like maybe there's order in the universe after all. Or maybe grudges are just part of the Zeitgeist.
#deweysoct #deweysreadathon
Getting ready for Dewey's #readathon by setting up my stack and following a bunch of other Litsy readathoners. I will not finish all of these---or probably any of these---but I'll make a dent, I hope. Thank goodness for audiobooks so I can read while cleaning house! Now for some shut-eye so I can be up for the 5am Pacific start time...
I loved this:)! Been wanting to read it for awhile. So glad I finally did!

Oh Calamity!
I loved this book! My husband even remarked how fast I finished it because I could not put it down! The mystery, the characters, the twist at the end....
I wish I had saved this one for my book club. So much to unpack.
The kid is with the in-laws, the hubby is off doing manly things; it's just me, and chip, and a good book.
I read this book about 2 years ago with my book club girls. I loved Liane‘s storytelling and the dynamic of each and every character. The characters were all completely relatable. We have all known a Madeline, Celeste, and Jane at some point in our lives. #biglittlelies #lianemoriarty #scandal #bookworm
This book drew me in immediately. I became invested in the characters. When the other moms at the school were mean to Jane, I wanted to rush to her defense. It made me so angry. And the final big reveal at the end, I did not see that coming. This was a very enjoyable read.
My new book to read during lunch time. I have managed to avoid spoilers for this book and the TV show. Guess it is time to see what the hype is about. I liked The Husband‘s Secret, so I am looking forward to this one.
My birthday was yesterday. My husband bought this book as one of my presents. Does he know me, or what?
Caucasian drama at its finest. Everything Desperate Housewives season 8 wishes it could be. Do I feel I was challenged intellectually by this book? No. But I did savor the drama and enjoyed the at-times nonsensical ride. lol
This one took me a little while to get into, but once I did get into it, it really was an excellent read. The adults in this one behaved totally disgracefully, talk about guilty until proven innocent, & their victim was a 5 year old! As a head Teacher/Principal their behaviour absolutely horrified me. However it certainly left you wanting to read on! A few little twists to the end. This one and What Alice Forgot are my favourites by this author.
Been one of those non-stop work days, working from getting out of bed until I got back into bed at midnight (my appraisal review tomorrow) but did manage to get some audiobook time in during the commute. Started this Liane Moriarty book, which wanted to read for a while.
Lamp‘s as happy as I am that I finally found this book at the library 😍😍
I liked and disliked this book. If you're into drama from rich people, then try this book. If not, stay away.

Shaun's turn & he's a barrister! The lyrics to this song could have referred to Celeste & Perry in this book.
4 stars & I'm definitely on the lookout for more Moriarty!
#SeptemberSins @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain
My definite September reads - will probably read more because of holiday.
This book is a wonderful excerpt into the lives of so many women. Each woman relatable to some version of yourself that you've already been or currently are. It's easy for me to relate to Madeline a busy bee mom but I've also been Jane, a "silly girl", and been a part of Celeste's mindset of "I've done this to myself". It is a powerful reminder of an unspoken bond many women share. I look forward to reading more books by Liane Moriarty. 5/5 stars.
Such a true statement about parents in general. We get big headed when our children are good about something, it usually requires another child of your own to disprove yourself. 😂
This book lived up to the hype; would like to watch the TV series. The story follows three women and their interconnected families and relationships: Madeline, a mother of 3 who‘s smart, funny, and a typical mother; Jane, a single mother of a 5-year-old boy with a traumatic past; and Celeste, the woman with the “perfect” life who‘s battling her own serious demons. Moriarty manages to discuss important feminist social issues in a realistic way.
4/5
I finally read this and discovered that reading about children and their mothers gave me more anxiety than reading about serial killers. Who knew? Ha. It is captivating, funny, and scary. But, it is also lacking depth. Not surprised. This book does what it promises: a page-turning, chick-lit mystery that will have you guessing until the end.
This book was deliciously fun to read! So fast-paced and wonderfully scandalous. No wonder they turned it into a series (which I watched on the way home from my trip). I couldn‘t get the actor‘s faces out of my head as I read though.
Saturday night - settling in with snacks, cats and season 2 !
Read this, more like consumed this, book in a day. And wow. A good book that brought up and tackled a lot of potential tricky topics. Who would have thought a book about the secrets that kindergarten mom‘s have would be so dark and fascinating?
Side note: I checked the shows IMDb page after reading it and I think it is perfectly cast - exactly what I thought they would look like!
This was a lot more serious and intense than I expected it to be. Not on my radar at all, but my MIL handed it to me, so I read it and was delightfully surprised. I thought it was going to be frivolous and full of caricature and instead it was witty and thoughtful. Made me laugh out loud and sigh with sympathy and anguish. I‘m interested in what else this author has now!
Loved both the book and the series
When I hear #calamity, my mind goes to this book. #quotsyaug19 @TK-421
I‘m just watching Season 2 now, and that slap! Two of my favorite actors, and this scene was crazy.
Anyone else let down by Season 2 overall though? Meryl Streep‘s portrayal of Perry‘s mother is one of the only things I like about this season, but I never seem to like when a series goes beyond the book that inspired it (GoT is an exception).
Big Little Lies -5/5⭐
Outlander -5/5⭐
Gone Girl🎧 - DNF
Transcription🎧 -3/5⭐
Dragonfly in Amber -5/5⭐
Catherine the Great -5/5⭐
Anyone else struggle to get through season two? I was underwhelmed by the first season, but the second season just feels so drawn out and unnecessary based on what I‘ve seen so far. 🤷♀️
How im beating the heat today and finishing Big Little Lies!
Big Little Lies 🥂👗
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book had me hooked from the start. The themes it deals with and how it does so, opening them up for discussion is extremely well done 💙

Great, quick read. Loved it was set in Sydney and I loved the promise of what was coming but still the expectation of who and how and why.
5/5⭐ Did not expect to enjoy this one. I'm looking forward to starting the TV series. The ending was just perfect. If it wasn't for #hookedonbooksclub on Instagram, I may have not picked this one up. So shout out to my amazing book club fam!
Love the character development, narrative style and the various twists and turns. Tv show is very good too!
“I am incandescent with rage.”
I love that line.

got to finish two books on my weekend trip to visit family in ponte vedra! there‘s really no better place to read than on a beach at dawn.
Here goes nothin'. Sometimes being part of a book club is a blessing and a curse. Have you read this one yet? What did you think?
This had me hooked from the first chapter. Fast paced, full of drama and secrets with a very good ending. Loved it !
5 🌟
Happy Sunday littens!!
Just finished teaching a puppy class, now at brunch and then heading straight home to my book 🥰
Have a lovely day ✨
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I loved knowing that someone would eventually be murdered without knowing who it would be. Kept me hooked. Her writing is clever. Will read other books from her for sure! 😍
