Just finished book 4 and it was the best one in the series so far. I was crying real tears while reading the last chapter. 🥲 Fforde is such a master of writing characters with depth, twisty plot lines, and laugh out loud wit. I'm hooked! Onto the next one...

I finally got my next Fforde book in from Book Outlet! As much as I loved Havisham as Thursday's sidekick, I'm SO excited to see Hamlet take that role as they hunt a clone of Shakespeare. 🤩

You may have noticed that I'm a little behind on my reviews (even though I've kept my usual pace for reading). . . . 🙄

Thursday Next is back out in the real world, working on getting her husband back from having been erased in the past, as she has to deal with the social faux pas of his flicking in and out of existence.
Jumping into bed with your father in law who has never actually met you can be difficult to explain.
This and more time paradoxes to come.

Something Rotten is, for me, probably the pinnacle of fiction, and also of the Thursday next series of books by Jasper Fforde. He is a literary genius. For every cultural or literary tidbit he has hidden in the prose, I am confident there are as many that I've missed. It's an unrestrained frolic of prose. The Goliath Corporation is taking over Thursday's Real World, and Text Grand Central polices the Written World.

Today's #BookHaul brought to you by my #LibraryBookSale ! All the YA titles are going to work with me for prizes (except Harry Potter which will replace a worn copy). The King and Sanderson are my husband's and the 2 cat books are gifts from my grandparents. Apparently they had beat me to the books sale and just knew I had to have those books! 😉

Well! I never expected that I would be crying at the end of one of these books. Such a beautiful ending! Each one in this series gets better and better. Plus, I finished just in time. We are headed to Orlando tomorrow to babysit our granddaughter, so I can return this to our DIL and borrow the next one.

If it's Tuesday, it must be coffee and books, even though I'm reading about Thursday 😄

Yikes! I feel as if I've been AWOL from Litsy. It's been a while since I've gone this long between posts. I am actually working this week, as a clinician at a choral workshop for high school singers. It's fun, but a shock to my retired system 😄 Yesterday was an early morning doctor appointment, though, with fasting blood work, so naturally hubby and I made a stop afterwards for breakfast and books.

Our last day of vacation. We spent the morning on the beach, but left when it started to thunder. So I'm spending the afternoon attempting to read, but distracted by the view from our balcony. I may cry when we cross the bridge to the mainland tomorrow morning.

This is up next. Taking Thursday to the beach with me.

Reading Thursday Next and listening to Amanda Palmer's new album #bathsandbooks 🕯🛁📖💞🎧

For some weird reason, this series make me think of the Richard Scarry books my kids loved. There's so much going on in so many different directions, it can be overwhelming. Let me also add that Fforde is wacky, silly, funny, extremely clever, and obviously well-read. This is first up for #boutofbooks. Can't resist a readathon, even right after Dewey's.
