Reading the last book Sue Grafton published before her death, I feel like I‘m saying goodbye to an old friend. Kinsey Milhone is hired to find a blackmailer. Of course the investigation turns up a sordid history and leads to a new murder. In the meantime, Ned, the serial killer has resurfaced with destruction on his mind.
I started this series in November, 2022, during a time of personal crisis. I quickly switched to listening to the audiobooks, and enjoyed listening to the adventures of private investigator Kinsey while walking or doing a puzzle. Ten months later, I am happy and sad to finish the series. Kinsey was a friend to me when I needed a fictional companion and I will miss her.

Just a bit late….
Well I did it. I set out to listen to this entire series this year and I‘m done! I so thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series. Kinsey now feels like part of my family (even though she wants nothing to do with her found families) and I‘m sad the series has come to an end. With that being said, I‘ve been terrible about posting this year, but most of these books made it on to my #19822022 challenge list
Another twofer for the #alphabetgame #lettery
Y is for Yesterday is a bittersweet end to the Kinsey series.
And Santino will always by MY Joe.
Catching up with #two4tuesday on Wednesday!
1. Kinsey‘s neighbor Henry Pitts##
2. I like a strong supporting character.
I hate that there is no Z. It feels unfinished and I can only imagine where the next cook would have gone to wrap things up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the final Kinsey Millhone novel because the author died before finishing the series. It's heartbreaking & enough to drive my OCD up the wall. It's also a disappointing end because it's one of the weakest plots of the series. A teenage party ends in a girl's death, ten years later Kinsey is hired on a blackmail case related to the death. I'll miss reading new mysteries with Kinsey and I wish we'd had a better conclusion to the series.
It‘s a bittersweet ending for Kinsey and me. She had so many more adventures in her. I really enjoyed this final book in the series. RIP Sue Grafton.
And, milk chocolate with pop rocks! Two of my favs.
I am just not into adulting today. So I‘m stealth reading at work with today‘s spooky ☕️.
And yes, my desk is a mess.

Finished Y and liked it better than the last few, although it may also be it is the last Grafton. 4 🌟 Reading Lost Roses and Know My Name currently. All three are from my #LitsyAtoZ list and #CrushtheRush. Finished Schizophrenias 4 🌟for #LMPBC. @rachelm It‘s on its way back to you. Keeping up with chapter a day reading Nothanger Abbey with #PemberLittens and the 3 mysteries are for #ProgressitNovember.
1. Yes, I have a fleece throw and a flannel quilt that I rotate between. Both have snow people on them.
2. 11 of them to finish #LitzyAtoZ. Tagged is my current read for Y.
#TwoforTuesday.
What a great idea from @Andrew65 to share #20series20days
Tagged book is the unexpected last book of my number one. Always.
#Top20series
Had my first peanut butter and pickle sandwich just like Kinsey. Not bad. Wishing the last book would be finished, but understand why it will not be. You were an amazing author Sue Grafton and are greatly missed. 💛💔
The Dark Tower graphic novel collection is my birthday gift from my husband. ❤️. Y is for Yesterday is tonight‘s reading. I hope you are all doing well. It rained like crazy here today. During one of my work breaks, I took a nap; then I took a nap after work as well. I am not generally a napper — it‘s the rain.
1. Not anymore! (I was prepared to do it, though, if we were going to get Z.)
2. Far too many to reread any of them.
Thanks for the tag!
#two4Tuesday
A bit disappointed with this last book in the series. Convoluted & could have done with editing a bit more. The story just sort of fizzled out at the end, & I really didn‘t like Kinsey‘s cousin, Anna. 3⭐️
If I could add another letter to the alphabet it would be “Z”...because as from 28 Dec 2017 the alphabet will only ever end in “Y”!

1. Sue Grafton so we can talk about cats, Santa Barbara, ... and Kinsey.
2. Does Kinsey ever get her HEA?
3. I have them in a spreadsheet so it can‘t be THAT many, right? Around 150???
4. I‘m a little late so consider yourself tagged if you want to play. #wondrouswednesday
This is the last of Sue Grafton‘s Kinsey Milhoune series. She passed before she wrote “Z”. I haven‘t read it yet. Even though the series lost some of its appeal I know when I turn the last page it will be like saying goodbye to a friend. #Yesterday #Beatlemaynia. @Eggs
The #manpanion (who also, like my sister, doesn't read) got me these two books from my wish list. Good boy. Now you can play your video games while I read. 😁
#GoodReads #ReadingChallenge2018 #125 #November11
First year I joined this challenge. Book #125 was the last book Sue Grafton wrote featuring her multidimensional female private detective, Kinsey Millhone. ❤️
Finished this in a day. I will forever love how Sue keeps you guessing who the culprit was and you almost never guess correctly.
I am about to finish the A to Y Mysteries with #yisforyesterday. I‘m sad that Sue Grafton‘s death means there will never be a “Z” mystery.
#yesterday #heyjune
Already read A in this series so far.....
Great month ladies 👍🏻😁
Kinsey Millhone, ace detective, was created by master writer Sue Grafton who is with us no more. Before she left, she pumped out another jewel with Kinsey, once again, kicking ass and taking names. Grafton belongs in that pantheon of great mystery writers like Agatha Christie, Raymond Chandler, Tony Hillerman and J.A. Jance. Kinsey Millhone is every bit as memorable as Miss Marple and Sheriff Joanna Brady.
Now I need a new female sleuth!
A reading dilemma: what book do I read first? Two master writers in their prime.
Sadly, I just can‘t anymore with this. I‘ve read the whole series and wanted to complete it. I was worried when I sampled this in print—the writing seemed rushed, Kinsey‘s voice was off, the plot dragged—but I thought maybe it would work on audio. Judy Kaye has always been a fine narrator of these books but even she comes through as shrill on this one. Maybe I‘m just in a mood, but I can‘t spare 11 more hours😢.
I‘m sad that I‘m finished with this series - maybe I‘ll re-read. I liked this one, although it was a little slow at times. #LitsyAtoZ #LetterY
Current read. I almost hate to finish it since there won‘t be more. So sad.
I finished the alphabet today and am sad there will be no Z. I‘ve followed Kinsey for years and always appreciated that she was a strong, smart, female detective. I was lucky enough to see Sue Grafton at a library conference many years ago along with the narrator of the audiobooks.
For author Sue Grafton and her fans, Y was the end of the alphabet 😢. I‘ve followed this series since the 1980s, when I was intrigued by a Kinsey Millhone short story in Redbook magazine (hey, I was in my early 20s) and picked up A is for Alibi in paperback.
I‘ve felt that the last few are not as strong, including Y. But always felt Kinsey was so awesome 💪👍. I‘ll miss anticipating the next in the series; just have to start over now! 👇
“....A book has no unwanted calories and you don‘t have to worry about sizes as long as the subject matter appeals to the recipient.”
Kinsey has this so right 📚📚📚!!
Brilliant formatting 👆. Finally starting this— sad knowing that it‘s Grafton‘s very last 😢. I plan to start over with the series soon!!

Said Goodbye to an old friend #y 😢. New Adventures w/ Flavia, Sidney & Phryne. Traveled to Shetland and Jane Austen`s England. Most Important? I finished my stack of small paperbacks. 🙃 Total of 8 steps up #mounttbr - 11 for the year. On my way to #mountblanc Goal of 24. #febstats 📚 #climbeverymountain 🏔 #somanyemojis 🤓
Cold wintry morning here in Oklahoma.Bit of icy weather yesterday & roads are slick. Glad I had no place to be today. Stayed up WAY to late last night. Had my tea & ready to review. I was worried that #Y would be a cliffhanger. Appreciate that it finished up loose ends from #X. Good mystery w/ solid ending. It's like #Z was meant to stand on its own. Interesting epilogue is set in March 1990. Kinsey in a new century????? #alphabetendswithy
One last late night with Kinsey. I'm glad I didn't read this when it first came out. I would have rushed through in anticipation of Z. I bought a nice Chardonnay for the occasion and set in front of the fireplace. I savored the story, drank a toast to Kinsey Millhone, to Sue Grafton and the I cried. #alphabetendswithy
Almost don't want to read it. When I do that's The End.
Most of my favorite writers e.g. Jane Austen, Maud Hart Lovelace died long before I was born. This is the first time author I loved died in my lifetime. Kinsey has been a part of my entire adult reading life. I never expected her NOT to make it to Z. #alphabetendswithy
Time for one last case.😢
