Good. Interesting concept but somehow it got lost and so the story just seemed so out of order and rationality. I felt sorry for the main character at first then as the story went on I hated her as actions throughout the story just went from bad to worse. The ending was as if the story just didn't happen it just felt too good for the actions leading up to it. Thank you for the free copy #Netgalley.

Long passage that were not needed. Good sense of humour. Easy to read.

An easy read, which I enjoyed at the time. But I haven‘t found it to be particularly memorable.

I first discovered Marian Keyes 22 years ago and, despite the fact that many of my reading tastes have since changed, it‘s nice to know I still enjoy her books. This is a good balance of ups and downs, following a difficult time in a marriage while retaining Keyes‘s signature humor. It was a great distraction.

This story is about Hugh and Amy and what happens in the six months that they are on a break. You will see that a lot can happen in six-months, when Hugh returns will he be the same man that Amy married?
The Break is a funny family story, that‘s not about falling in love but about staying in love.

Someone in our rdg grp suggested we try a marian keyes bk + having enjoyed her on various radio programmes and podcasts i was pleased to give this novel a try. The story of a Dublin couple whose marriage hits a crisis when husband says he needs a 6 month break is v funny, fruity , and doesn't shy away from the sensitive issue of abortion in Ireland. A bk out of my normal comfort zone but will rd her again.

I love Marian Keyes. Her books never fail to suck me in. This one had me feeling all the emotions. Great read!

I‘m trying to put a dent in this one. I like it, but it could be shorter. There are unnecessary bits. Maybe her editor was having a bad day.

This morning‘s start time. This is outside my kitchen window. Only 20cm of spring snow. 😑 But we don‘t have to go anywhere today. It‘s going to be another great day for some cozy reading. I‘m on chapter 17 and I really want to smack Hugh upside the head.

Lots going on here! Depressed Hugh needs a break to sort his head out, a break not just from daily life, but also from his marriage. Amy is left to cope with normal life, though how it can be normal when your husband‘s on a break & you‘re not?

I loved the complicated relationships, especially with her 3 girls, the humour, & the side-storylines. It dragged a little in the middle though - I expect I could find others by MK with plots I enjoy more.

My audiobook just stepped up a level. It affected my walking (albeit several trips out)! And here are sone shoes in a shoemaker‘s shop for #litsywalkersbingo. As you do.

Drizzly & foggy today, but half way through my #litsywalkers walk, I discovered how to log individual walks on Fitbit 🎉. So it was over 2 miles, at least.

Here are some of the more interesting store signs around - a newsagents and a (very nice) bakery, if ever you need cheese straws or an uglibun.

And yes, I‘m still on the same audiobook. But no, I don‘t have much to say about it. I think I‘d read MK again, in print, perhaps... (Faint praise!)

Wanted to say thank you @kaye for making going to the gym seem almost normal (in my world it‘s not!)- I went yesterday (walked there & back ✅), first time as a ‘real person‘ rather than with the ‘health issues‘ group, & I actually enjoyed it. Apart from the weights. (Enjoying weights = never gonna happen!) Your ‘get on it‘ posts are fab 😘

Flags outside the year-round outdoor cafe (for all the hardened dog-walkers in these parts!) - the middle one‘s a Devon flag. And I‘ve walked further today than I have in the last couple of days, so yay! Also it stopped raining, just as I headed out!

The book? I may be ramping up the speed on it fairly soon. I enjoy it when I‘m listening to it, but have no particular desire to actually hit play. Which isn‘t the best sign... #litsywalkers

Short-but-fast #litsywalkers walk today, with some railway bridges for a view. I wish I was one of those people who could read a print book while walking down the street (they‘re out there, and they‘re quite scary - I‘d fall down a manhole or something 🕳 !). Had a lovely #litsywalkers walk this afternoon in drizzly, mizzly, foggy misty stuff. But glad I actually ventured out - was absolutely planning on staying inside today.

And back to The Break on audio. Marian Keyes is funny. We‘re currently at a hipster storytelling event. With beanbags. And hot chocolate. And vodka. It sounds great!!

Today‘s #litsywalkers weather report: it‘s a bit wet, & a lot windy. Apart from the times it‘s a lot wet & a bit windy. But got a mile and a half in before the need for hot tea got the better of me.

Finished the Jan Morris audiobook & back to The Break, which I‘m still enjoying, but flip, this narrator! She has a lovely Irish accent, but can NOT speak Geordie for toffee. As one of the appeals of said Geordie is his accent, this is A Big Problem!

A couple of miles this afternoon, and stopped to watch a cargo ship being piloted in to harbour. #litsywalkers

Still enjoying this audiobook, in which the office lothario has just started quoting Rumi‘s ‘The Guest House‘, in response to hearing Amy‘s husband is taking a 6-month ‘break‘ to go travelling overseas.

Started listening to Marian Keyes‘s newest on today‘s #audiowalk. I haven‘t read her before, and I‘m quite surprised actually. Having seen her on TV, I assumed she wrote silly light stuff. But here she is writing about grief and depression - but still making me splurt with laughter in the post office queue. Think we‘ll get on just fine!

This isn't the sort of thing I usually go for but I was looking for an easy read novel to go alongside reading the very heavy This Changes Everything and Marian Keyes kept being utterly charming on my favourite podcasts so I thought I'd give her new book a shot. I couldn't put it down it was completely absorbing and Keyes writes love, sex and relationships so well. A heartwrenching and enjoyable read #mariankeyes #thebreak #sex #irish #love

A bit long and drawn out, but a good idea if a bit implausible. I wasn‘t too sure about the ending.

Just over half way through this and loving it, such an entertaining and deeply gripping book that makes you not want to put it down 👏🏼

Started listening to The Break by Marian Keyes as my commute book. Love Marian Keyes books and they usually make great audiobooks. Interesting concept, but a boring cover!

I'm taking a break from serious reading, but nearly 40 minutes in I haven't laughed once. Its quite depressing really as I've had more than my fair share of breakups! #itsnotyouitsme

Away from the books for a large part of today as having a few days at the coast in Poole, although do miss the books. That must make me a right bookaholic! 😂😔 This was the view from my hotel window this morning, a gorgeous morning with not a cloud in the sky.

Really enjoyed this. It was so easy to listen to. Funny and serious at times, in just the right mix. Am flat on my back at the moment having done something that means lots of pain and very little movement so spent a lot of time listening over the last 24 hours. Marian Keyes is a great writer and I‘ll look out for a few more of hers soon.

Next listen. I haven‘t read a Marian Keyes for years so looking forward to some easy, fun hours of being read to.

Loved, loved, loved this book! A really good holiday read which is exactly what I needed! Thank you Marian Keyes! Her books never disappoint. A fun and fabulous read yet it still manages to touch on some serious topics.

Marian Keyes always manages to make me laugh and cry...often within the space of a few pages! I love her humour and insights into human nature. She will always be one of my favourite authors. 56 pages in and loving this so far.

I had never read Marian Keyes until I picked Rachel‘s Holiday in November and I now I can‘t stop reading her work. The Break is her most recent novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it listening to it. However, I would say certain passages are a little cringeworthy, I think more sonic if you‘re listening to it but definitely one to read or listen to. #bookbloggers #booktube
