Thank you @Itchyfeetreader for my #staycationintime package! I'm looking forward to spending some time in Ancient Egypt with these queens and some chocolate!
@Chrissyreadit @DinoMom
I only have two words to describe this book:
Oh. Wow.
This has been a phenomenal book about an amazing woman - Cleopatra.
I've read much about Egypt, but this book gave me new insights into the Egyptian royal family and the intriguing life of Cleopatra. This is a book I'd love to read again, as it contains so many details - Her life with Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony.
All in all a brilliant book.
1. Johnathan Strange
2. Back to Ancient Egypt, early dynastic eras.
Thanks for the tag @RamsFan1963
And for the game, @TheSpineView
Great book, I was totally mesmerized by it. Cleopatra was such an interesting Queen.

Thank you for the invite @DarkMina
1. Hades, the greek god of the underworld, I like the spooky.
2. I have some on my TBR, but can't think of one I read. The closest would be the tagged book with the Egyptian gods, Isis is my favorite.
Had I been more familiar with the time period, I might have found this a bit better to read. It is a well-written account of Cleopatra from her perspective, which was interesting, but I found myself going on Google field trips to look up people, places, and incidents. I think that took away from the enjoyment of the book. If you‘re not compelled to Google everything then you may enjoy this book more.
1. Partly cloudy and 85 degrees
2 I took an hour to just sit and read
3 tagged - still plowing through this monstrosity lol
Thanks for the tag @AmyK1
Tagging anyone who wants to play!

A bit late on the #bookreport and first one I‘ve done in ages but I‘m starting to feel like my old reading self again after a couple of months. I‘ve even decided to tackle the 1100 plus page Cleopatra book which I‘ve had forever. Think I‘m ready for a good chunkster!
@Cinfhen
Good historical fiction. I do want to see the movie.
#Jazzyjune @Eggs #crymeariver Cleopatra has many ups and downs, triumphs and tribulations, and I‘m sure tears near the end - along the River Nile.
Love how human and real George makes these great ladies of history
Thanks to Cindy‘s explanation I could think of something for today!
Margaret George‘s books are awesome historical fiction! But beware those with #bigbookphobia they‘re usually around 1000 pages! I still have a few to go - but I like knowing they are there and have loved them all.
#omarsharif #musicalnewyear
Thanks for a great month you guys 😁
Does anyone else have a serious affinity with #chunksters?? Weighing at 945 pages this chunkster is HEAVY. I couldn‘t walk away though!!
1. Only thing near me is my kindle
2. Tagged book - just haven't had time to get into 1139 pages and I usually love a good chunkster!
3. No idea - something on the run because I have a 5:30 workshop in the city today.
4. #raisingreaders
5. Love Story by Erich Segal -never read it!

Day 5 of #riotgrams is #royalty.
I mean you had to see this coming right? 😉
I'm late! Day 3 of #febinbooks18 is books set in history. Here are only two of my favorites. Most of my favorite books are historical fiction so I had to be reasonable here. 🙃
My #TBR pile continues to grow exponentially! I just know these new #books will inspire me to get through this #readingrut. #historicalfictionlove #shortstories
For the #seductiveshakepeare challenge today the theme is 'Anthony and Cleopatra.' I chose this book to embody that. I have not yet read it, But really look forward to doing so.... Research always pulls my attention away though.
@jenniferw88
An It sized chunkster that I've owned for well over a decade. Started reading many moons ago but wasn't in the mood. One for a rainy weekend with very few chores! #TBRsomeday
The way Anthony is portrayed in the novel makes me fall in love with this historical figure.
So, this book was in my reading list for summer... and I think as of now, this book counts as two books off of my summer reading goal
It breaks my heart but I'll DNF this one 😢It started off really well, with an intelligent, strong Cleopatra and wonderful descriptions of ancient Egypt. But Cleopatra soon started sounding like a naive, love-driven teenager, and the story's main focus shifted to her romance with Caesar. I just can't read another page about her love concerns or Caesar's lovemaking skills. Sorry Cleo, but my TBR is too long for me to gamble on another 700 pages. 💔
Sent the baby to his grandma to get some stuff done at home. 2 hours and nothing done later, this time it's true that I'll read just one more chapter 🙄
#bookmail aww yisss! I fell in mad love with Ancient Egypt historical fiction when I read Pauline Gedge's "Child of the Morning". Ordered this beauty not knowing that it's 900+ pages long ?I'm itching to start reading it but not sure if I'm in the mood for such a big book right now. Decisions, decisions...
#bookhaul because even though I just bought a box set of The Dark Tower series, when the used bookstore called to say they got in a trade paper edition of The Gunslinger (i.e. a copy with illustrations), I had to have it, and you can't leave with just one book. *sigh* #lostcause #hopeless #bookaholic
#FunFridayPhoto ... a book I've read that's over 500 pages. This one clocks in at 1024 pages (964 in the hardback) but it was worth every second. Has anyone else read it? Or any of this author's other biggies?
I couldn't get enough of this first person account of the life and loves of Cleopatra #publishedinthe90s #bookadayNov16
Margaret George is the queen of historical fiction. This is one of my favorites. She imagines a rich and gorgeous history that makes the woman more than a myth, a woman searching for love and acceptance in a land ruled by men.
I love pretty much anything that Margaret George has written, and this might be my favorite of hers, garnering a reread from me every few years. Humanizes and makes very real such historical figures as Cleopatra, her siblings, Caesar, Antony, Octavian, etc. So evocative. A wonderful epic story.
This is one of the books that made me fall in love with historical fiction. It is lengthy but so well done. Beautiful character development and world building. I fell in love with these characters!
