Alex and Conner Bailey's world is about to change, in this fast-paced adventure that combines the modern day world with the enchanting realm of classic fairy tales. 'The Land of Stories' tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner. Through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, they leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with the fairy tale characters they grew up reading about. But after a series of encounters with witches, wolves, goblins, and trolls alike, getting back home is going to be harder than they thought.

#3 the genre of the book is fiction fantasy this book is good so far it‘s about a boy and a girl that have a tight family situation with money, and the boy (Conner) is doing really bad in school. Their grandma gives them a book that they read when they were younger but they didn‘t know that it was enchanted until Alex ( girl) goes into it and they get lost in this enchanted book. Read this if you like enchanted story‘s full of fun and adventure.

Here‘s my #bookreport!
I finished my #OwlPost book, and also the above. Arms From the Sea was not for me. I‘m loving The Circle!

Cinfhen Looks like a productive week... I was NOT a fan of The Circle 🙃glad you‘re enjoying it 2w
Cinfhen How was Almost Sisters??? 2w
Soubhiville @Cinfhen I liked The Almost Sisters. There was focus not just on sisterly relationships, but those with nieces, grandmothers, and female friends. I loved the main character, a comic book artist who finds she‘s gotten pregnant accidentally. I also loved her grandmother, who is suffering from a type of dementia, but still wants control of her small town southern life. 2w
See All 6 Comments
Cinfhen Someone mentioned it for bookclub / what do you think!???! 2w
Soubhiville @Cinfhen it could be a good choice. It‘s a fun quick read, but there are issues to discuss- elder care, a bit of mystery, a bit about technology, and racism. I found it predictable, but not in a way that detracted from enjoying it. 2w
Cinfhen Thanks 😘 2w

Great audiobook! First time to start reading Chris Colfer‘s series and LOVED it. He is a wonderful storyteller, and the audiobook made the story even more even more magical. Can‘t wait to continue this series !

Feeling a bit like Olivander at the moment 💫 I am immensely enjoying this book as an audiobook. Chris Colfer is a wonderful storyteller and I have no idea why I have put this series off for so long! ➡️QUESTION: What Harry Potter Character do you think I am dressing up as for Halloween? This was a good book featuring twins trying to find their way home but also the big bad wolf pack, the evil Queen, trolls and goblins that kidnap and enslave people and a witch in a gingerbread house.

I adore Chris Colfer. From his days on Glee, to his activism and what he has done since with this series, he is an incredible person. LoS is my daughter‘s favorite series along with HP, and it is with all of that in mind I give this a 👍. This is a reread; last time I listened to the audiobook. I do hope the writing and character development improves in the subsequent books. #bbrc #mgme #writtenbyanactor

4thhouseontheleft Apparently I was harsher on GR the first time I read it. My review from 2015: Three stars since my daughter loved it.

Certainly no Harry Potter, and the dialogue and writing is extremely stilted and left a lot to be desired. The fairy tale characters are cookie-cut outs and very one-dimensional, which was extremely disappointing. However, it did have a cute premise.

4thhouseontheleft @LibrarianRyan Actually, my taste hasn't changed, I think I'm just being nicer. 😂The main reason I'm reading the whole series is in honor of my daughter's love for it. We often swap reading lists, and she has been asking me to finish the series (I bailed on the 2nd book the last time I read these), for a VERY long time. 4mo
4thhouseontheleft @LibrarianRyan I will say I‘m a few chapters into the 2nd book and notice an improvement in Colfer‘s writing. I keep forgetting how young he was when the first one was published! (edited) 4mo

Woof, this was a tough book to get through because it was so disappointing. One of my middle school patrons LOVES this series so I moved it up on my TBR. Sadly, I found it very shallow, too much action, not enough character development, and a trite writing style.

I‘m book tracking with the Bookly app for this #24in48. It‘s great! Wish I could get the infographic, but my app keeps crashing. :( @24in48

While I didn't love the language, this is a very accessible, really fun riff on fairy tales for middle grade readers. I read this aloud at bedtime and both the 10 year old and 6 year old squealed with laughter at Connor's comments and could relate to Alex and Connor's sibling relationship. Loved that it comments on the older non-Disney tales and plays around with its own version of the stories.

3⭐️—— alrighty then three days later and I‘ve finished the wishing spell and I have to say it wasn‘t that bad. It wasn‘t great but granted i am a seventeen year old reading a book meant for young readers. For kids its a great book with good adventure and a good take on your classic fairytales. Personally the ending felt rushed but i also adored how Colfer used the original stories instead of Disney‘s.

While this book gave me definite “The Tenth Kingdom” feelings, it was a quick and enjoyable read. I‘m a bit (a lot) ahead of the intended age range but I didn‘t find many “that‘s just not believable” or “I rolled my eyes so hard I saw the back of my head” moments. It was fun, and I‘ll be passing it down to my 10 year old nephew. #MG #fantasy

Started this one for bedtime reading since I see It being read by the kids at school a lot. On the second chapter and it's fun to read the school teacher decry fairy tale retellings when this book is clearly going to play with many of them.

I really need to pick up a book of the Grimm versions.

Audiobooks save the day! My 7th grade daughter was getting anxious and cranky on the way to her lacrosse practice today. So I turned on my current audiobook to distract us. Fortunately we tuned in just as the kids magically fall into their story book. Turned our frowns right upside down!

And I can already see why this series is so popular in my school. Chris Colfer has many talents!

This was the book I got so I could read it and discuss it with one of my students that loves it. It is a really fun book with a great twist on fairytales.
