3/4⭐️ (Very Good)
This is my first work by Ilona Andrews. I enjoyed the quick pace and the fact that it can be read on its own despite being a part of a series. I really liked this version of vampires and werewolves and the premise of inns and innkeepers. I will most likely give the next book a try.
Highest marks for Plot/pacing and engagement. Average marks for characters and atmosphere.
The start of the Innkeeper series by Ilona Andrews may be one of my favorites of the year so far. More specifically the full cast "Graphic audio" book version. It was a fun immersive ride. Now onto the book itself I loved how it explained how different creature species came from. It was different from your typical Werewolf and Vampires. Small hint it involves intergalactic beings and portals.

I read a lot this week but it was mostly comfort reads of one of my favorite series. Did manage to finish my commute audio as well though
#WeeklyForecast
My goal is to get deep into my commute/gaming book and maybe eye read some of my BookSpin backlist as the new draw is coming up soon.
Interesting start to a series. I love the concept, liked the characters but it was a bit romancy for me. But I'll probably read the next one too.
If you like fun and fantasy this series is for you. I listened to the graphic audio dramatization and it was fantastic.
Eh, didn‘t really care for this book. And probably won‘t continue with this series. It had an interesting premise, but it didn‘t really work out for me. I‘ll stick with other Ilona Andrews books.
Finished this one January as well.
This one is a fun start to the Innkeeper Chronicles, a contemporary fantasy take on urban fantasy. It plays with some of the tropes you find in UF but still has the things I like about the subgenre. Definitely going on to the next one. (Did I mention there are some beautiful illustrations included?)

I had this audio book but it was so good I bought the kindle book because I can read way faster than I listen. Dina is an Innkeeper, she runs a galactic way house on earth, which stays I conquered because of the Inns and a neutrality treaty. She decides to break her neutrality when something kills her neighbors dog and ends up with Vampires, ware wolves, & scary assassins from all over the galaxy in her suburban Inn. Great world, fun characters
My 4th read of 2021 was a reread of this book so I can finally read the sequels. I listened to the audio the first time, but this time I read the ebook that was put out as a treat during COVID collecting the first 3 books in the series. 📚
This series is like Urban Fantasy meets science fiction. I had forgotten about the SF elements. It has a strong female lead and a dog named Beast. I love dogs as central characters in books! Fun read!
Using my Echo to listen to my book. Really loving my b-day present. I'm still not sure how I feel about this book yet. It's ok, but not great, which is weird becuz I havent really ever read a book I havent liked (school excluded).

Gunna listen to alittle before I go to bed. My tummy really doesn't like me right now. Hoping it will go away after I go to sleep.

Still trying to get this one done for #PLC. It's not like me to have a hard time with the paranormal reads. Maybe it's the audiobook doing it to me. I don't know, but I will get it done by the end of the month.

Listening to one of our #PLC picks for this month while I do more group stuff.

Fun, different, interesting, and I absolutely want to live in this house!
"House of Krahr!" the vampire with the banner barked quietly.
"Krahr," the other four vampires exhaled and glared at me.
Usually they roared their house name at the top of their lungs, trying to intimidate... Oh. They were trying to be inconspicuous. I bit my lip to keep from laughing. I'd never had an attempt at intimidation whispered at me before.
It starts with a dead dog which didn‘t seem too propitious - but it wasn‘t a good dog which, oddly, made me feel better 🤔. I‘m getting into it now. Beast, the black & white shi tzu, reminds me of my sister‘s white spitz
Listened to this one on audio and really enjoyed it. Think I will check out the next one in the series on paper as I feel like I may have missed a lot of detail (zoning put) on audio.
I like the explanation for the existence of different magical beings and I like the main character, Dina, a lot. I also enjoyed the concept of the inn being alive. I never thought the author properly explained what happens to the werewolf's clothes when he changes back and forth, other than that, this book is the perfect fantasy fluff to escape these times and I must have more.
Eighth finish of #24B4Monday puts me at 14:20 so far!
I loved this book! Really, the only Ilona Andrews I haven‘t liked was the Edge, and I only read the first one of that series. Now I‘m dying to dive into the rest of the series, but the kiddo wants to play dolls and so reading will have to wait.

My indulgence this afternoon was a browse through the library for my own reading material, and here‘s the resultant #bookhaul - plus books V-IX in the Myth-O-Mania series for the kiddo and me (we already have X on inter-library loan).
It was supposed to be a date with my husband, our first time trying a babysitter. We went to the library and the grocery store. Wee. Our ice cream date fizzled. But the sitter was great and someday we‘ll try again!
I‘ve long heard good things - and this was decent and fairly hilarious - which are excellent foundations for a series.
Plesantly surprised at how much I liked this. The mix of fantasy and scifi was neat. I cant wait for the next book, maybe she will get more fun chraters at the her inn!
I didnt love the narrator though. She was wonderful, dont get me wrong. I just didnt love her accent. It reminded me of Holly Hunter, that tiny southrn lisp, its grating to me. But other than that delightful!
A new, sci-fi and paranormal fantasy mixed series from one of my favorite authors.
Love everything they write. This series start (about an inn keeper who hosts inter galactic travelers) has the trademark fight scenes, vivid imaginative gamer style and strong female lead that the writers do so well. Dinah Demille is a great combo of powerful protagonist with vulnerabilities and kindness.
Supernatural innkeeper meets a werewolf and teams up to save the world. If you like other Ilona Andrews, books, you‘ll like this series, too.

1. DARIA!
2. phoenixes, particularly Fawkes from HP
3. what the HP world calls transfiguration
4. so many great series with magic, but I‘ll go with Ilona Andrews‘s Innkeeper Chronicles
5. reading & pretending I‘m closing the elevator doors 😉
Tried this for a 2nd time back in January and I am pleased I did go back... a well earned 4 stars, well written and very enjoyable. Full review in Goodreads.
I love the Innkeeper books so much! Book 1 introduces us to so many good ideas and is a fun, fast read full of action, humour and romance.
When you were up reading until 3am, coffee is a must to survive the workday. I had to really force myself to stop reading because this book is just so much fun to read! Everything I love in Ilona and Gordon's writing is here - strong worldbuilding, interesting characters (also hoping for some romance at some point).

#BookandDinner! In denial that the long weekend is almost over.😭 Now that I'm done rereading Silent Blade and Silver Shark, I'm starting the Innkeeper Chronicles. Because Ilona Andrews is always a good idea. The only reason I haven't read them yet is I've been saving them for a rainy day. Looks like that time has arrived.😆
as per usual, ilona andrews introduced some new entertaining characters. i'm comfortable giving this book a 3.5. and i will continue reading this series.
I thought this was okay and sort of cute, but I found my interest lagging along the way.
The semi-weekly serial published by IA on their website (free weekly fantasy? Yes please!) has lots of #supernaturalbeings - and good news! If you wanted to read it in one go, they just finished book 3. #booktober
This book was so much fun! It was part urban fantasy and part sci-fi and that combo just worked for me. I loved it! Dina is an awesome heroine and I adored the whole Innkeeper premise. It makes for a seriously cool book with tons of room to expand the world. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Can this couple do anything wrong???? I absolutely loved this little book(>300pages) and had a blast reading it. I found myself smiling and laughing a great deal while reading the quick humor and inner dialogue. The story was good, characters excellent and the world was was filled with rich stories.
There is never a dull moment in Ilona Andrews's books. I love the humor, magic, adventure and heart in these books.
This was an amazing book!! I loved the mix and mashup of fantasy and sci-fi. The unique way the authors portrayed the different races, what an innkeeper's job is, and Dina's backstory made for one great read.
