I have a much better appreciation of this book than I did when I had first read it a long time ago. I love how Anne has matured and evolved over the series but still retains much of what made so many people love her from the original Green Gables book.

🏡 What did you think of Gilbert and Anne as a married couple? What (if any) changes do you see in Anne now that she‘s married?

🏡 How would you compare Anne‘s other friendships (Diana, her college chums) to her friendship with Leslie?

This was a reread for #kindredspiritsbuddyread. When I read through the series in 2023, I went in the order the books take place. In publication order, this one joins up with the others a little better. However, I still had the same overall feeling as before. I miss the Avonlea characters and I miss the more determined Anne. The "Dick Moore" storyline makes me uncomfortable. Gilbert and Anne take a backseat to Jim and Cornelia. Just don't love it.

It has been more than ten years, so all the details were as fresh, surprising, and emotional as the first time. I adore this series. Glad to revisit it.

I have to admit, I was worried about this one because I couldn't imagine it having any plot conflicts. And while it didn't, I still enjoyed reading it and appreciating it for just being a charming book. #bookelevenof2024

I continue to make my way through the Anne of Green Gables books 💚

This one was new to me.

This book comes up as book 4 in my Kindle collection, but I'm seeing that, according to Anne's age, Anne of Windy Poplars should have been next (??)

Either way, this was delightful, and I am sure to enjoy all of the books no matter which order I read them in.

We‘re headed back to Orilium and Veta Mae has some big decisions to make.

She‘s thinking of changing her Calling and hoping to make a new friend or 2.

“Our library isn‘t very expensive. But every book in it is a friend.” I absolutely loved seeing Anne become a wife and mother in this book. The first half of this book made my heart sore and sometimes cry. I will admit, about half way through the story I feel like Anne became an observer as apposed to the main character. It‘s still a great book though and I dearly love relate to a the newly wed wife and the dreams of her home.

I adore this one because it reminds me of the first book with its intense emotions. This is the adult version of little Anne‘s melodrama. This book has the most idyllic romances, the strongest friendships, and the most joy, the most tragedy, desperation and sadness, the eeriest scenes… but after that roller coaster this chapter ends sweetly.

Jane was not brilliant, and had probably never made a remark worth listening to in her life; but she never said anything that would hurt anyone‘s feelings—which may be a negative talent but is likewise a rare and enviable one. #rereadingsummer

I didn't love this one. The sad thing that happens isn't dwelt on long enough (I know, I know, it's a children's book) and the dated language of the Dick Moore storyline made me uncomfortable.

On my first read of the series 10+ years ago, book 4 (Anne of Windy Poplars) was my favorite. Now, I think book 5 may be it! Anne‘s House of Dreams is full of whimsy like her other books, with laughter, heartache and lots of great characters. I do wish we got more of the story from Anne‘s POV but I‘m really enjoying this reread. Better late than never to the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead !! 5⭐️

I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting Anne‘s newlywed life in Four Winds. I love the new characters Montgomery introduces—Leslie Moore & Captain Jim are up there with Marilla & Matthew on my list of favorite AoGG characters. More than the other Anne books, this is the one I want to step into: evenings of Captain Jim‘s stories at the lighthouse, rambling along the rock shore, and having a heart to heart with Leslie in the garden. #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead

Just barely a pick for this one.

I loved the beginning where we get an update on what have happened with characters from previous books due to Anne‘s wedding. And it went a little down hill after that for me. I can‘t really explain why. I think part of it is that I thought there would be more Gilbert now that they‘re married, but no. I liked the new characters and how Anne always seems to make friends wherever she goes

Anne and Gilbert move into their house of dreams to start their life together. Despite some silly inclusions (including ludicrous gymnastics to avoid using the word “pregnant” or any synonym), I think this is the best book of the Anne series so far. It keeps its focus on a few characters, allowing the reader to get to know those people more deeply.

One morning, when a windy golden sunrise was billowing over the gulf in waves of light, a certain weary stork flew over the bar of Four Winds Harbour on his way from the Land of Evening Stars. Under his wing was tucked a sleepy, starry-eyed little creature. The stork was tired, and he looked wistfully about him. He knew he was somewhere near his destination, but he could not yet see it.

(This reminds so much about the scene from Dumbo.)

I came across this absolutely unforgivable typo/misprint over the weekend, in my copy of House of Dreams. I mean, really?!? Anne-with-an-E would be horrified. #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead

Part three for Anne's House of Dreams #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead! I've gotten out of the habit of posting very much, but I've really been enjoying my little oasis of a chapter each day.
