My next read! Library hold finally came in; I swear the website said "IN TRANSIT" forever & I even joked that the book must be coming from space ? (it really just came from a library a few cities over). While Halloween is over, I firmly believe every season is witch season ? and I'm looking forward to finally being able to cross this off my TBR list.

pickA YA short story collection about witches and witchcraft. Diverse voices, LGBTQ+ friendly, with a mix of historical, modern and fantasy settings. As in any collection, some stories were better than others but in the whole I enjoyed it. Getting excited for fall!
pickThis was cute. It's very girl power plus some magic. Brandy Colbert is one of the contributors. I love her.

so-soAnother anthology with much the same response: the Tess Sharpe story was brilliant. Anna-Marie McLemore & Tehlor Kay Mehia were also quite good. The others were a mix of mediocre, mhe, annoying & outright depressing. Probably someone more interested in dystopians would enjoy this more than me and I‘ve given it a higher mark because it‘s extremely diverse, well written & well edited but I‘m just not an anthology fan. #MoreMehThanYeh #borrownotbuy
pickI thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved every story, though I definitely have some favorites. I took my time with it, pondering each story, so many of which left me wanting more. Some of these author have completely entranced me and I plan to seek out their other works for more glimpse into the magic and secret filled worlds they introduced me to in these pages.
This book kinda fell into my lap, it was an impulse borrow from the library without having any idea of what it was about beyond the cover. But truthfully, ifs amazing! I‘m four stories in and each story is absolutely amazing! They feed my witchy, magic loving soul in ways I couldn‘t imagine!

pickRead an ARC of this anthology awhile ago and LOVED IT! It's filled with witchy, feminist stories that I so enjoyed reading. The stories, the characters, and the authors are so diverse, you're bound to find a few you fall in love with. Highly recommend!
Story #2 Afterbirth by Andrea Cramer
I liked this one! Set in 1650's New England, it has a very Salem's Witch vibe to it (you even get court transcripts interspersed between a midwife's apprentice's pov).
So the first story up is Starsong by Tehlor Kay Mejia. It's about a young bruja, instagram influencer who uses her ability to hear starsong to read charts and make art (she also reads charts for poly teens, which is cool). She almost died from partying last year, but she's done with that. Instead this is a story of a cute DM flirtation with a science minded girl. I was expecting a bit more toil and trouble, but it was cute.
I recently, drastically, cleaned out my Goodreads tbr, and I requested a few books from my library. Short stories might just be what my brain needs at the moment- I'm too amped up for my NYC trip at the end of the month! I plan to review each story as I read it.

so-soI liked this overall but it wasn‘t spooky enough for me and some of the stories were very plain. But the last two stories were amazing!
@Eyelit the power of three is strong with this one! I finally have mini lights!! I have always wanted a set but for some reason never bought them. Steampunk fairy tale character cards!! And where in the world did you find a Mad Madam Mim book!!!!! Josh didn‘t understand. I‘m looking forward to the books. Literary witches sounds so interesting. I will be using the tea soon and Josh already stole the candy. haribos are his fav and he didby 👇🏻
pickMy first book of the #readathon is finished. It took a lot longer than it should have but I can't focus all that well today.
This was about 3.5 star read. Some of the stories were misses but most were pretty good. There is some great lgbtqia and race representation in here too. Some are fantastical and others rooted in actual culture.

They‘ll be too wise and too smart and like themselves too much to even get near you.” This filled me with joy. Very fitting with certain events in the news.
pickThis was a lot of fun to read! I love the idea of women taking back our power and often times taking back our history too. My favorite stories were the first one, Starsong, The Gherin Girls, Love Spell, and The One Who Stayed. I enjoyed how the different authors played off troupes and history to create such diverse characters and stories while keeping the themes the same, love who you are and believe in yourself. One of my favorite anthologies!
Are you a fan of short story anthologies? I‘ve only read a few myself but I‘m excited to read this witchy anthology in October! And, if you can‘t tell, I love all things pumpkin and this tea @jmtrivera got me is so yummy! 🎃 🧡
Here‘s my overly optimistic October TBR lol. I‘m also currently reading Vengeful, so we‘ll see how many books I make it through this month. I really love rereading The Night Circus during the Fall season, and the audiobook is lovely if you‘re looking for a new way to experience the book! What are you hoping to read this month?

pickAnthologies aren‘t my thing but I buy anything Anna-Marie McLemore is in. This is a pretty strong anthology. Out of 15 stories, I only disliked 4 of the stories. And McLemore‘s story was 😍😍😍😍

I‘ve really been enjoying this YA anthology of stories about witches. I‘m about halfway through the book and I‘m loving the different approach each author is taking.
It‘s been making me nostalgic for movies like The Craft, so I decided to play it in the background while I read some more tonight. I forgot how obsessed I was with this soundtrack in high school! Teen Witch might be next. I loved that movie when I was a kid.
There's nothing like an overly ambitious TBR and this is exactly like an overly ambitious TBR. #screamathon
