I posted about this series on Threads and some people said to skip this book all together. Yet, somehow someway I‘m enjoying it.

Overall, I liked this one. It's sort of weird that it's considered part of the Anne series, considering Anne is barely in it. While reading Montgomery's bio, I've learned that she was pressured for more Anne books long after she ran out of ideas for her. It was written before Anne of Ingleside, so I sort of understand why there aren't better descriptions of the Blythe kids in that book, even if today Ingleside is numbered earlier in the series.
This is a weak pick.
This book shifts its focus from Anne to her children, but even more to the children at the manse. The minister‘s children can do no right to the villagers and we get to hear all the gossip amongst the adults.
I missed Anne in this one.

#KindredSpiritsBuddyRead - Rainbow Valley discussion - part 5
5a. How does Rainbow Valley compare to the other books in the series for you?
5b. How do you feel about the almost complete focus on the children in this book?
5c. What are your thoughts on the references to “the Piper” and the foreshadowing of the ending?
(Any other thoughts on this book you'd like to share?)
#KindredSpiritsBuddyRead - Rainbow Valley discussion - part 4
4a. We get a little love story in this book with Rosemary West and John Meredith (and for once, Anne isn‘t doing the matchmaking!). What did you think about their romance?
4b. Relatedly, what were your thoughts on the promise between the West sisters? Is it ever justified to hold someone to a promise like this?
#KindredSpiritsBuddyRead - Rainbow Valley discussion - part 3
3a. John Meredith is portrayed sympathetically, but shows a shocking lack of awareness about his children, to the point of neglect. What did you think about him—as a character and as a parent?
3b. What do you think should be the role of a community (or congregation) in a situation like this?
#KindredSpiritsBuddyRead - Rainbow Valley discussion - part 2
2a. There‘s an interesting parallel between Mary Vance in this book, and Anne‘s situation at the very beginning of the series. What comparisons or contrasts do you see between Anne‘s adoption and Mary‘s?
2b. What did you think of Mary‘s storyline, and of her as a character?
It's time for our #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead discussion of Rainbow Valley!

We're coming up on the end of Rainbow Valley, with our discussion on Sunday! I'll be posting questions in the afternoon (Pacific Time), and as usual, feel free to jump in when you can. I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on book 7! Then our chapter-a-day of Rilla of Ingleside will start on Monday. #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead
“‘A suitable woman of suitable age,‘ that unctuous brother of the cloth had said, in his far from subtle hint. For the moment John Meredith had had a perfectly unbelievable desire to rush madly away and propose marriage to the youngest, most unsuitable woman it was possible to discover.”
😂 I feel this... nosy interfering hints deserve extreme contrariness!! #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead
The past couple weeks have been so busy, I've gotten behind on my own #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead as well as on Litsy in general! I looked up the buddy read schedule today to see just how behind I was, and discovered it's time for me to post the last third of the schedule. So here you go! Hope you're all enjoying the read (even if you've gotten behind like me).

We're moving along in Rainbow Valley! I'm enjoying this one much more than Anne of Ingleside. Still lots of little stories, but there's more of an ongoing plot with the manse children and Mary Vance (who I'm loving!). I'm also enjoying that we get more of Miss Cornelia in this book. How's everyone else enjoying Rainbow Valley so far? 🌈 #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead
Getting a slightly delayed start on the next volume of the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead. Just means I can quaff instead of sipping. 😏🌈
I‘m caught up to Book 7 in the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead!
I almost always read my collectible editions and don‘t worry too much about it but this signed LM Montgomery, a gift from my husband, is an exception. Bring out the old reading copy! 😆

Tomorrow, the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead moves on to Rainbow Valley—here's the schedule for the first third of the book.
I remember so little about these later books, other than that Rainbow Valley shifts the focus away from Anne and onto her children and their playmates. I'm looking forward to revisiting this one, and to hearing everyone's thoughts as we read!
This one grew on me. At first I was disappointed that Anne was barely even in it, but then I started to like the characters. One more to go! #HeyCarrots #CrushTheRush #BookspinBINGO
I know these are young adult books and no young adult is interested in the life of a middle aged lady but man, I get so sad when the focus shifts away from Anne to the children. Still a wonderful classic, though.

I was bothered by a racist slur. I think the author was trying to show the rough upbringing of Mary Vance, but it would have been so satisfying to have Jem or Walter fuss at her like they did over everything else.
#BookSpin @TheAromaofBooks
#heycarrots @thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Flingogal
This is my least favorite of the series so far. It‘s mostly about the Meredith children and their absent, neglectful father.

The seventh book in this series is a good book, but I was a little disappointed because there wasn't enough of Anne and her family for my tastes. The book focuses on another family's children who become friends with Anne and Gilbert's children.
Easy, fun read, but I think the author is trying to keep a series going by adding in too many new characters.
We are somehow up to book 7 (well not me personally because I‘m hopelessly behind at this point but I‘m here to cheerlead you!!!)
#heycarrots : very self paced Anne of Green Gables readalong - join in, think about join in, rewatch the 1985 masterpiece... up to you!
This book was quite different from the rest of the series because it didn‘t focus on Anne‘s family, like I expected it would. Instead, it focused on the children of the new minister (who did become friends with Anne‘s kids). They were interesting characters and the stories were cute, it just wasn‘t what I expected. 6/10
Thanks for the tag, @rockpools ! 😘
1. I worked for one summer (during university) as a samurai warrior extra in a Japanese historical film. I still work occasionally as an extra in locally filmed TV shows and movies (usually bad TV movies 😆).
2. The health of my loved ones.
@vivastory and @Leftcoastzen : you‘re tagged if you haven‘t played already. 😊
#ispy a basket on the cover. Thanks for the tag @chrissyreadit the search was fun!
If you would like to play @robinb @katy4peas @staci.reads can you find a book with tulips on the cover? 🌷
How does my library only have one copy of this in the entire 32 library system? 🤔. I know they‘re in the public domain at this point but I‘ve been doing the series as a read aloud with my 10 year old and she likes to have the physical books .

I am determined to finish this series however it is becoming hard work. Overall I just feel like the author was purely page filling at this stage as this book is filled with nothing but air.

I liked the story—but it‘s really not about Anne and Gilbert or even their kids at all. Not sure it should be part of the series or just a spin-off...
Meh. Anne‘s kids are nowhere near as interesting as she was.
⭐️⭐️: The 7th installment in the Anne series but this book was seriously lacking in the Anne department. I missed her and her pluckiness in this book. Cute but not great. #AnneOfGreenGables #Classics
Desperately trying to finish the Anne of Green Gables series audio books. The last couple books have been slightly disappointing, though.
I have finished all the yarn craft gifts. Now I'm working on a hat for me!
Finally finished, I enjoyed it, but I must say it is so far my least favorite book out of the series , all the foreshadowing about poor Walter 😭 I wasn't fond of Mary Vance and Ellen West, Meredith kids were lovely, their father though...wanted to smack him tbh 😑

Today's used bookstore find: a new book for my Montgomery collection.
This rainbow book, or #bookrainbow if you will, is about the Blythe #siblings. This is the battered copy from my childhood. It has never been one of my favorites in the series but I still cherish it. #fallintobooks #awesomeautumnbooks
Listened to the first half on audio and finished the last half in the paperback. I felt this one was set for an older audience, but still included the childlike excitement and detail. I adored it.
Day 5: Fave Siblings - This is such a fun book! I love reading about Anne's children and seeing what adventures they have. Serious and silly. #SplashIntoSummerReads 💐💐💐💐💐/5 @Tiffy_Reads
My "Anne of Green Gables" books never have disappointed me yet! I enjoyed Rainbow Valley very much. This one wasn't so much about Anne, but more about her children. I enjoyed reading about them and getting to know all of them as a big family.
L.M. Montgomery is my comfort reading. An escape to PEI. This one served that purpose perfectly. Enjoyed the adventures and mishaps of the Meredith children, especially faith Meredith.
Lunch and a need for escape. Yes, I think a little Anne will do me well.
