Not as good as the Midnight Lie but decent war romance (which I will keep reading)

I had to go with my original set and my beautiful Illumicrate signed edition of the Winner‘s #Trilogy for todays #ArtfulAugust 🖌🖼🎨 prompt 😍
#BookNerd 🤓💙📚
Ooo Illumicrate‘s special editions of the Winner‘s Curse series is here! It‘s gorgeous in person, and I‘m glad I snatched these up since I don‘t even own the series in physical form yet! 👏🏼📚
I liked Kestrel a lot- she‘s confident but naive, and has a lot of growing to do. There was so much action and change throughout this story, it kept me ok my toes, which I appreciated.
Off I start with a new series! Let‘s see how it goes! 😬🗡
I chose this book out of a list I found of books for the #politicalintrigue prompt for #booked2019. I think this genre is tough for me which is why I didn‘t love it. It just was hard for me relate to and stay interested in. I felt like it took a long time for things to happen and wasn‘t as captivating as I had hoped it would be based on the reviews.
My spooky tradition for the past 4 years has been the More Delightful Than Frightful event Morgan's Wonderland holds every year at their fully inclusive theme park. My son loves it. Thank you to everyone who participated in my #Spooky50K giveaway! Litsy has been a very positive experience for me and I am glad to share it with all of you. Congrats to @Kalalalatja on being chosen by the sorting hat.. or should I say the sorting pyrex dish 😅 👇
Amazing! Dazzling! Spectacular!!!!
There were a few issues, but I can overlook them. This book was amazing!

I started this book yesterday and I only have 100 pages left! #thewinnerscurse #thewinnerscursetrilogy #marierutkoski
This book has one of my favorite YA couples of all time—Kestrel and Arin. Plus, it features a heroine known for her skill at strategical decisions, which I love.❤️❤️❤️ Read this if you are a fantasy YA fan, and read it if you‘re not!😜
Me and my kindle. I am so engrossed with the winners curse series..
A pampered daughter of a general and a slave —Kestrel and Arin had much going against them from the get-go. Love this trilogy! #lovehate
#AdventRecommends day 23
This is my most surprising read of 2018!
I picked it up quite randomly when I decided to read a book that was on my tbr for a long time. I didn't think, starting it, that it would have such a well developed world. Honestly, I thought it would be more like a main pretty rich spineless heroine falling in love with someone out if her league.. blah blah. But there is so much more to these books and it's characters!
#favourites
I‘ve stacked quite a few books from all your lovely #AdventRecommends posts I thought I‘d pay it forward by giving mine. This trilogy is an auto-recommend for me if you like YA fantasy although there‘s no element of magic here. But there‘s romance and politics and war strategies and written so beautifully too!
I re-read The Winner‘s Curse so that I could continue with the trilogy and I loved it even more than I remembered! I read this book about 2-3 years ago but never continued on to The Winner‘s Crime. Can‘t wait to jump into #2!
I enjoyed relaxing and reading The winner's curse today. It was a great start for the series. I'm excited to start some Halloween reads now. #litsy #kindle #kindlefire #paperwhite #library #bookgeek
Hi everyone! I've been listening to the audio book The winner's Curse all day. I'm watching To all the boys I loved before. Then I'm planning on finishing my audiobook. I love having two weeks off from work. I'm planning on catching up on my goodreads goal this month. #litsy #kindle #kindlefire #paperwhite #library
Finished book 1 and am about 5.5 hours into #24B4Monday. This book was fantastic! I picked it up at Magers & Quinn in #mpls based on Annie‘s recommendation above and it was everything she said and more. I loved the intelligence and cunning both Kestrel and Arin show and I look forward to seeing where book 2 takes them.
Also, I‘d be much further along in the #readathon except I have a nasty cold and all I really want to do is sleep 🤧😴
After a stressful morning, I'm ready to settle down with the tagged book for the #24B4MondayReadathon
@TheReadingMermaid
Book number 3 finished (355 pages).
I really enjoyed it and will continue this series soon.
Total pages read: 899 #24in48
Just bought a bunch of bookish candles from The Melting Library and I love them!!😍😍
Wowwwww...this cover did a HORRIBLE job of representing the tone of this book!
I liked all the politics and social status used in here. Not too much romance and not too mushy for a book heavily focused on slavery. I liked it
I've heard such mixed things about this book that my interest has been gradually climbing all month...
This book is the start of one of my favorite trilogies EVER! It's so much more than a pretty cover. Kestrel is fierce and real. Well as real as someone from a different world can be 🙂
I'm also still getting used to posting here and failing 😅 But it's Thursday and I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to get organized... No promises with a 6 month old crawling around thoigh 😂
3/4: #indiebookstore number two was Magers & Quinn Booksellers which I make a point to visit whenever we travel to #Minneapolis. This store is huge and filled with both New and used books of all genres. One of my favorite things about this store is all the staff recommendations posted throughout the store in every section. The tagged book is one I picked up based on Annie‘s recommendation. I always find some unexpected titles here!
Oh my gosh.
The twists, the writing, the characters, the world building, the tension, everythint in the book is perfect!
Gonna buy book 2 today cause the end was 😱😱😱😱.
#24in48 Hour 36: My Bookends | The first and last books on my bookshelf! A favorite YA novel + a favorite poet...very telling of who I am as a reader, actually 🤔
Latest read. So far so good! #whenitcostsmoretowinthantohavelost #coulddowithouttheexagerratedposethough
I thought this was an ok start but it didn‘t blow me away. Have read that the second and third books are much better so I‘ll keep going, but need to wait for my library hold on the second one - not rushing out to buy it.
Looking for a completed series to read over break. My favorite #youngadult is “The Winner‘s Curse” trilogy, but I‘ll read any romance, young adult, or fiction that can hold my attention through continuous airport travel! Suggestions welcomed!😀 #romance #favoriteseries #fiction

I was really looking forward to this book, but it just didn't work for me. I've been so busy with school lately that I didn't want to waste time reading a book I didn't love. It was fairly slow in my opinion, and it seemed rather predictable. I might come back to it but for now, I'm moving on.
Because my tbr isn't big enough, I'll try to win some more. Open internationally too! Fingers crossed.

Challenge | Day 31
This August wasn't my best month of readings. Nothing specific happened, but I just wasn't in the mood. Until The Winner's Curse.
Today is the last day of this challenge and I can't believe I survived with just two delays!

Challenge | Day 30
I don't have much to show because I'm in a kind of #bookbuyingban with some friends (but comics and ebooks are ok according to our rules).
New books this month:
Adulthood is a myth, Sarah Andersen
The Winner's Curse and The Winner's Crime, Marie Rutkoski

First of all, I'm not sure why this book was listed as fantasy, because in my head it lacks a lot of elements to be fantasy, I see it as pure YA, but nevermind. The first part is a bit boring and pretty predictable, with some nice twists in the second part promising to be a lot more in the sequels, which I hope will be more detailed in some scenes where the author could use way better descriptions, which were left out in the first book. 3.0/5 ⭐
#currentlyrereading | I have all these books in my TBR but I got distracted by Arin/Kestrel again oops 😍❤️
This book is a full three star (out of five). It‘s intriguing, overwhelming, endearing, but at the same time it misses that "something more" (example: the general idea for the world building was good, but the explainations are given through infodump and "as you know, Bob").

This series is one of my favorite fantasy series. Kestrel is so strong and Arin is so good for her.
