You know what, this was better than I'd anticipated. It seemed to borrow plot from other plots but surprised me in veering off in a different way.
Not sure I'd read any others but this was good.

A book club vote for May.
I've not read any by Ben Elton. I like the blurb, reminds me of many books I've enjoyed, but am dubious about how well written it'll be!
I have a mountain of physical and electronic tbr.... But I fancy a re read of this gem!
I finished these two historical fiction books this weekend. One about a southern mother wanting a girl so bad after 6 boys, she decides her latest newborn son will be a girl. And the other contains time travel.. WWI… changing history…but does it make the future better or worse? 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟for both!!
Lots of fun reads in January!! My original goal for #JumpStart2021 was to average 300 pages per day. I didn't quite hit that - I totalled an incredibly round 8888 pages (how???) for the month, so about 287/day. I'm calling it a win, though - and I also thoroughly enjoyed the bingo board!! Thanks so much for hosting @Clwojick & @Lizpixie !!!
Whaaaat??!! This book was fantastic! It's been a while since I got sucked into this kind of story, where I HAD TO KNOW what was going to happen next! Not a perfect book & if you have a rosy view on the human race (i.e. that, left to their own devices, humans are inherently good) this may not be for you. It's not my usual style in the sense that it's not really a happy book, but I am willing to make exceptions to that rule if the writing is good⬇️
#weeklyforecast - already halfway through the tagged book & I am SO HOOKED! The Knockout Queen is an #LMPBC book that's been wandering around the postal service & finally decided to arrive yesterday so it has jumped to the front of the queue. I've had The Newark Earthworks out from the library for MONTHS so time to either read it or send it back! The McManus books are a mystery series he wrote that I haven't gotten around to reading despite ⬇️
I‘m posting one book per day from my ever-increasing TBR. No description. No explanation. Just books to read. Join the fun if you want.
Day 42.
#fromthetbrstacks
A well meaning time traveller (played in my head by Jason Statham) goes back to 1914 to prevent the assassination of Frank Ferdinand. Chaos ensues. The story, action and humour worked for me. The trio of underdeveloped female characters - mother, lover, killer - not so much.
Thank you #poutinepenpals for your birthday wishes and gifts! I love our little group and so look forward to sinking into these! I‘ve been wanting to read the Ben Elton book forever ❤️💚❤️
An interesting concept around time travel and changing a pivotal moment in history. I struggled with most of this book until near the end when things became a bit more interesting. Full review here: https://thecuriousmagpie2018.wordpress.com/2019/10/12/review-time-and-time-again...

I always hesitate to state a #preferredgenre...too hard to choose... But I do have a lot of loved books that feature time travel and/or alternate realities ⌚📚

I sure am happy that I didn‘t miss this one. This book is a gripping historical thriller. It‘s the year 2025 when an ex-military man hooks up with a group of academics who have been guarding Sir Issac Newton‘s “secret to time-travel” for 300 years. They have one opportunity to travel to 1914 in order to stop WWI from occurring, thus changing the course of the 20th century. It was great writing, great characters and a great history lesson!
Time travel and historical revisionism plus a dollop of humour from the writer of Blackadder.
I really enjoyed this one.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cambridge Scholars find away to send someone back in time to 1914 to stop the First World War and who do they send....Bear Grylls!!! 😆 I really wanted to love this; the history was spot on and fascinating but I couldn‘t connect to the characters and the plot was kinda meh! Interesting still tho! 👍🏻
I couldn‘t resist this one after @TrishB recommendation! Time travel...WWI...changing history...I‘m in! 🙋♀️

Love time travel books and this one is probably my favourite!!
This was really really good. All about that eternal question of if you could change one event in history what would it be? But it continues into the next more important question of how would that change affect the history yet to come?
A stand alone, if you enjoy time travel in your books then this should be a must read. Great story with an intriguing twist towards the end!
Just discovered this book this morning through another #bookblogger. It's really good and only 99p on Kindle in UK at the moment!
I've been in bed all weekend with a cold so I managed to finish this book today and it was great! Historical fiction and alternate worlds set in Europe in 1914 just before WWI started. Could history really be changed if we could change just one key event? It was really interesting.

One of my fav books - history and time travel 😀👍
Very good. Was gripped all the way through. Questioned my idea of history and how things can spin on a single person or event, even the ending suggested that if something had been done that wasn't done would the whole story I had read would have been totally different. Recommend. 📖📚

A great book 😀👍
Second part of my package: 3 books from my favorite genres that look super interesting and by Australian authors. I loved the cute postcards inside each book too. Serena, thank you so much for everything you sent me. It looks like you really took the time to pick things I would really enjoy ❤️. Looking forward to starting these books and the yummy snacks! 😊. #Summersantagoespostal #Summersolsticebookexchange
Fantastic book.....anticipated the end twist but it was brilliantly executed and strangely haunting. Quality. T completed #litsyAtoZ #read2017
A brilliant read about the adventures of a time traveller where history becomes fiction and fiction becomes history.
About halfway through and really enjoying this so far.
Here is a picture of Franz Ferdinand and his gravity defying 'tache to enjoy......
Just started this and looking good so far!
So I went food shopping with the kids......
This book had the potential to either be good or be a dud. Time travel is always a device that can ruin a good story. Especially the going back in time to fix a great wrong. This book kept me on my toes and was really enjoyable.
This book!, again!!, is one of two that have been my most worthwhile reads to process a year that has been world-wide crappy elections and votes. Maybe somebody had to come back in their time machine and ensure Trump and Turnbull and Brexit prevailed bc the alternatives would have been the catalyst for so much worse? Maybe we're destined to not know? Or maybe this is just the bargaining stage of the 5 Stages Of Grief. Who knows? 🤔🤔🗽🕰
Great time travel book. Rules are laid out clear and followed.
If you could go back in time ... Could a single bullet really start a war? Could a single bullet stop one? If you could go back in time and stop some of the biggest madness and suffering the world has ever seen! HOW would you stop it? Like many Ben Eltons, I #couldntputitdown #septphotochallenge #somethingforseptember
