This is one of those audio versions that the narrator is matched perfectly. Loving the Scottish accent lol! I‘ve already decided this is a 5 star. Loving this book!🥰#audiobooks

Vanessa, thank you so much for my #SpeculativeSpringSwap package! You have spoiled me and I love it all! The little Nemesis tea cup is perfect and I can‘t wait to use it while I start reading! I just need to decide which novel to start first! Thank you, thank you!!! #SSS
1. Reading Goals: 200 this year! 📚 I want to read down my shelves & finish reading My Father‘s Dragon with my son 🐉
2. Present: look at what remains & not what is lost.
3. I technically just finished this but I LOVED it.
Just shy of my goal this year 📚still, what a great reading year it‘s been! ❤️here‘s to many more books in 2022– maybe this year I‘ll break 200! 🤞Happy New Year! 🌅wishing us all health & compassion in the next chapter ❤️

I enjoyed this origin story of Merlin (Lailoken) and his twin Languoreth, the woman and prominent queen we wouldn't know had existed without Pike's years of dedicated research and wonderful storytelling. Once you've finished reading, be sure to check out the author's notes for more details about the work that went into developing the story. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
How cool is Painting with a Twist to partner with Simon & Schuster to offer free ebooks for attending one of their art classes?! I choose the tagged book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my second read of this wonderful story. I still give it 5 stars. I am certainly not a scholar of Arthurian legend but I am definitely fascinated by it. I love how we see Merlin‘s twin sister from a young girl hoping for a more meaningful and free life as a healer, but must succumb to her fate as a wife to a prince who will likely become king. I cannot wait to read the second book next!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ◼️ I had a massive #bookhangover for this one. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3592926990 #february #bookbingo
I love a good historical fiction. And this was gooood. Driving to and from work the last week, I didn‘t see the grey highway, I was transported to sixth-century Scotland. I got lost in the tale of Languoreth and the court dramas. My only complaint is, that the ending felt a bit too abrupt. But that gives me a perfect excuse to read book two 😉

This usually isn‘t my genre but I loved this book! I‘m going to have some self control and read at least 10 books I own before buying the sequel!
I‘m so excited to own the first two books in The Lost Queen series!! Thank you @offtheshelfofficial for running this giveaway that I won! 👏🏼👏🏼❤️
Have you read these books yet? Probably the best books I‘ve read for Fantasy HF this year! Signe Pike‘s well researched story and setting is divine. I dream of going into the pages and visiting the kingdom to meet Lailoken and Languoreth.
#historicalfantasy
What an epic tale. A past we, at least me, knows very little about, but with Signe Pike's research and pen we are able to visit for a little while and learn about a Lost Queen..
Holy buckets @Twainy I‘m totally in awe of your generosity! Seriously 😍 no words #hauntedhollowswap #hhs @wanderinglynn
Good 6th century Scotland historical fiction. The writing is comfortable, with great historical detail & fantastic description. Good female protagonist & political/life balance. Pacing was my biggest issue, but the slow start eventually built up speed & there was enough to keep me intrigued along the way. I was a little frustrated with the ending, which felt both like a quick wrap up & a cliffhanger. However, it does set up well for the sequel.

‘The Lost Queen‘ is a sweeping epic, so it is not for the faint of heart. Historical fiction with a dash of fantasy - I truly loved every second of this novel. It is well worth the read, if you‘re a fan of historical fiction, legends & myths, magic & the romance surrounding the legend of Merlin. It reminded me quite a bit of the novel, ‘The Mists of Avalon‘ by Marion Zimmer Bradley.
‘The Forgotten Kingdom‘ (2nd in trilogy), published last month.
Beginning of an epic fantasy trilogy. It felt a bit long at times. Captivating keltic world. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. 3.5 🌟
The dusk jacket hooked me with “a blend of Outlander and Mist of Avalon.“ RIGHT ON!!! Not only did you get the rugged, brash, strong woman feature but tie in the legend of Arthur/Pendragon made it mysteriously magical. A deep sense of faith and lore was woven into the fabric of Pike's image of 1500 Scotland. Languoreth was fierce yet flawed with a true understanding of not only her power within her role among men.
October Book 16/25 #LItsyLove
“Why must we have laws?” he echoed.... To attempt any organized society without them would be an exercise in futility. Laws do not simply dictate right from wrong. They provide measures of balance. In this way... They help men and women keep the course between right and wrong when they cannot do so themselves. A law broken results in a punishment, most often payment—the aim of which is to encourage correct action in the future.”

With similarities to Outlander & Disney's Brave, this story covers some of the historical accuracies behind the infamous legend of Merlin. Merlin, or Lailoken in this book, has a twin sister named Languoreth who narrates this story. Although Languoreth was an influential queen in her time, she has been largely missing from the history books.
An epic work of fantasy and historical fiction. Inspired by a time before King Arthur and Merlin, the story centers around Languoreth, a "lost queen" on a mission to become a Wisdom Keeper. The novel is well researched and elements of Druid culture enrich the story. The beginning of a fabulous trilogy that you don't want to miss. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review #NetGalley #thelostqueen
The premise is really intriguing and the setting is vivid, but I did not love this one. The characters were flat, the story was predictable and the pacing is rough. There were sections where I struggled to pay attention. The main romance doesn‘t feel authentic at all. I have an ARC of The Forgotten Kingdom so I‘ll give it a try, otherwise I might not continue with the trilogy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I added the audio to this read which was THE BEST decision!! Toni Frutin didn‘t narrate this one so much as she performed it. I felt tons of emotion while she read-happiness, sadness, apprehension. Her pacing and pronunciation are perfect; her accent is gorgeous. This story itself is so atmospheric and the setting (500‘s Scotland) felt like a living, breathing thing. This will be one of my top two or three this year for sure!!
1. The Lost Queen
2. The Priory of the Orange Tree (827)
3. The Woman in the Window

I‘m so excited to be reading this!! I‘ve been waiting for months to find a book as absorbing and atmospheric as Tidelands by Philippa Gregory and here it is!! The setting is to die for, the characters are complex, and the audiobook narration by Toni Frutin is gorgeous.
LOVED this book. I cannot wait until September when the next book comes out! The build up and the cliffhanger 😲
You have totally spoiled me again @MaleficentBookDragon !! 🤗 I love me some #AgathaChristie and don‘t have any of these! I‘m looking forward to reading these books for the #LMPBC — I swear I will have a package out to you ASAP @TK421 🥺 I don‘t know how I got so behind! 🤦🏻♀️ Thank you Chelle for all of the goodies! I love these bookmarks and the coffee cup especially! Everything will definitely be put to good use! ❤️
I really loved the characters. The plot left something to be desired, although it certainly wasn't weak. I look forward to book 2.

I‘ve had a long and stressful week, so I am so excited to finally get the weekend started. I have lots I want to read. The tagged book on my iPad, The Priory of the Orange Tree on my Kindle. I also just started listening to The Splendid and the Vile on audiobook. Hoping to have a fruitful weekend of reading, work on #ReadYourSign and #Booked2020. Also participating in #24B4Monday, even though I know I won‘t make 24 hours.
Went for a 6.5 mile mountain hike yesterday and now my legs are feeling the pain. Relaxing this Sunday night with a #bookandbath.
You know that point in a book where you feel like you‘ve tipped over to the other side? It‘s build, build, build... and then at some point, it feels downhill. Either I‘ve passed that point in Lost Queen or its better to read than listen! (I did a little of both for the first half, with quite a bit more listening.. then my library loan expired!) Happy to be reading this ☺️
#LMPBC
Also... has anyone played the CYOA game? We‘ve only started...
This has good ratings on Litsy, and at some point I clearly put it in my TBR, but I fear it‘s historical fiction and I just can‘t with that. I‘ve yet to find one piece of historical fiction I can stand. Also, not a fan of whoever came up with the #historicalhussies group. Judgemental much?

This is the story of Languoreth, the twin sister of the man who would become Merlin in the King Arthur legends. It takes place before King Arthur's time, beginning during their childhood.
I don't know much about King Arthur and this is not the typical genre I read, but I found this interesting, although pretty slow in the first half or so. The ending does make me want to read the next book in the trilogy.
eeeee!! I‘m so excited for this!! After your review, I‘m sure I‘ll love this book ☺️☺️ And Thank You for allll the yummy drinkables & edibles!! Everything sounds so yummy! (I‘m going to have to send you a diff addy tho — that NM sun does a number on chocolates in mailboxes 😳) It resolidified tho, & the taste is just as good! 😁😁

@Avanders This went in the mail yesterday for #historicalhussies. @Mommamanzi your #cbbc will be in the mail on Monday- with all the craziness this week I‘m not quite done.
You guys. This book tore me to shreds. Complete shreds. My mom read me Mary Stewart‘s Merlin series before I was old enough to read. I‘ve been enthralled ever since. I love this take, though heartbreaking. I can‘t wait for book two to find out which character is Arthur. I have my suspicions. I also need the 2 nonfic books she references. Like now lol. #historicalhussies you‘re in for a treat!
#historicalhussies you are in for a treat with this one! I‘ve carried twice already and I‘m just over half way through. Remember that at the beginning of March you should be mailing forward the first book you received :) @Avanders I‘m hopeful to mail out on Monday if I can get it done by then! I‘m audio and physical reading so I think I can do it :)
@TK421 you did excellent! I love the CAT mug because it will remind me of a favorite Litten when I use it and that will make me smile! And totally don‘t worry about the notebook, I find the explanation hilarious, which makes a good story! I‘ve never had that candy bar so I‘m pumped to try it! Thank you! #historicalhussies
