Cyrus is a psychologist working with the police. While working on a case of a girl found dead in a local park, he has also been given the opportunity to get to know a different teen girl. Evie has a horrific backstory and very damaged psyche. I really enjoyed these characters and apparently this is the first in the series depicting them. I will definitely read on! Be aware this one is pretty dark.

Definitely in need of a page-turner after 1776. This one is my April #doublespin

What to say!? Such a twisting, psychological thriller. You never really know what‘s coming until the very end. Lots of character development, seeing Evie and Cyrus grow together. I‘d like to state there are some trigger warnings but such a great book, I can‘t state it enough. 5⭐️

Despite the positive reviews and the “Best Thriller of the Year” designations, I found this book less thrilling and more frustrating. Psychologist Cyrus Haven has been tasked with discovering the identity of Angel Face, a young woman who was found in a secret room. Cyrus himself has his own family tragedy and then another girl turns up dead. Just soooo much going on. There‘s a sequel. I won‘t be reading it.

This was my #doublebookspin that I finished yesterday. Evie is discovered in a room half starved and a surivior of a terrible crime. The only thing is Evie can‘t remember who she is. Now 6 years later and still no one knows who she is she wants to be released now that she is an adult. Cyrus is a forensic psychologist who is investigating the shocking death of a local teen. But the more Cyrus looks into the cases the more he wants to found out 👇🏻

Listened to this as an audio book and it was really very good. The characters of Cyrus and Evie both had interesting back stories and the crime/mystery kept me guessing. My first Michael Robotham read but won't be the last 😊

This totally sucked me in. I couldn't put it down.

Evie is a teen with no past. Cyrus is a psychologist who assists in police investigations. Cyrus is pulled into Evie's case when everyone else has failed and also the murder of a young girl.

This was excellent - I ordered it on a whim after seeing it was nominated for an award (I can‘t remember which one 😂). Flawed, multi-layered characters are totally my jam, and add a good thrill aspect? I‘m down 😁

This psychological thriller about a young teenager with a twisted past, a scarred psychologist, and the mysterious murder of a promising young girl was captivating. I didn‘t want to put it down and was thoroughly creeped out and fascinated at the same time. Although I didn‘t get all the answers I wanted, I felt like the book was well-thought out, intriguingly mysterious, and contained good depth of character.

The body of 15 year old figure skating prodigy Jodie Sheehan is found and nothing is at it seems from the get go. Robotham weaves plot twists around that kept me engaged and wanting to know everyone‘s secrets. Was it her brother, mother, father, cousin, aunt, uncle, stranger?! I HAD to keep reading until I knew! And that‘s just one angle. I also want to know ALL THE THINGS about Evie. I can‘t wait to continue on to learn more about Evie and Cyrus

This was a great read, I ended up reading till dawn and then thinking about it as soon as I woke up. It‘s the story of two girls, one is a broken “truth wizard”, the other a murdered golden girl. They‘re connected by Cyrus, a psychologist who‘s trying to figure out them both but Evie is too bruised & Jodie had too many secrets. The ending is a doozy, and I love that Evie‘s story isn‘t finished, I can‘t wait for the next novel in the series. 5⭐️

Just finished this morning. A page turner. I‘ve never read him before but after hearing him on the radio and knowing this was the start of a new series featuring a female I decided to give him a go. Glad I did. A few bits annoyed me towards the end but overall a good read. Now I can‘t wait for the next one.

I loved the intriguing mysteries in this story and couldn‘t read fast enough to find the answer.

With a whole slew of good/bad characters and the unpredictable storyline this was highly entertaining. Chalk one up for another fabulous novel from Mr. Robotham! 4.5 ☆

For me I really enjoyed the portions with Evie. That story felt very fresh and when the story focused on her and Cyrus, I was super engaged. However, the murder investigation, felt very stale. I have read that story before, and was not surprised at all as the story unfolded.
