I decided to lean into the season for this month‘s #bookspinbingo card with filled it with food-related titles. I hope to actually get to all of them someday!
Decisions.....decision.......😂
Anyone else being a baking goddess today?I just made (and ate) some yummy banana bread. Nigella is a favorite of mine. I can't believe I haven't been in this cookbook in years. Shame on me.
(I also just dyed pink tips in my hair. It is not good when I am left to my own devices.😁)
My first puff pastry! I love Nigella! I felt I was folding forever - I think I‘ve actually got 730 layers!
I‘ve spent a very relaxing afternoon learning how to fold and laminate pastry. Made my first croissants!
I‘ve baked two for breakfast tomorrow and got some more still proving.
I thrifted a mini Madeleine tin yesterday, so I finally got to make the Rosebud Madeleines from the tagged book!
They were delicious and had a wonderful mouth feel, but I‘ll have to tinker with the recipe. Nigella says one should only butter, not butter & flour, the tin, which gave me nicely humped Madeleines with no definition on the pattern side. Blah. I floured the second batch and got slightly better definition but no humps. Hmmm.
I listened to a big chunk of HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE while I baked one of the great mysteries of my culinary life: Nigella Lawson‘s cranberry cake. It‘s delicious, and it never looks anything like the picture because the cranberries always float up into the batter.
I think Canadian cranberries must be much lighter than the UK kind. The recipe says 6oz = 3/4 cup, but I‘ve found it‘s more like 2+ cups. #audiobaking
#FALLISBOOKED - Day Seven #FAVOURITEFALLTREAT I rarely bake, but Autumn is a time for stodgy puddings; so Nigella‘s decadent version of a bread and butter pudding, using pain au chocolat is perfect.
1. Something that shows me how to look at life differently, even while making me feel like I'm not alone.
2. Do notebooks and pens count? Coz... Pretty sure I could open a stationery shop over here.
3. The tagged book, not so much for the recipes but for the way that Nigella writes. Pure aesthetic and sensory pleasure in food.
4. Emily Dickinson, Sylvia Plath, Fernando Pessoa
5. @gradcat
Thanks for the tag @diovival ❤️ #wondrouswednesday @Eggs
Does anyone else always have books on their bed? And at least one cat?

Pg. 13 Lemon Syrup Loaf Cake. Pairing books with cake this wet, grey Saturday afternoon. This is a great go-to book for some real classics - although she does like a lot of sugar in her recipes!
My mum asked me to do my grandma's trifle for Christmas dinner. It calls for two store-bought sponges, but none of the grocery stores around here sell them anymore so I had to make them instead. It gave me a chance to start A CHRISTMAS CAROL while I finally, finally tried Nigella Lawson's Victoria sponge recipe. #audiobaking
There are a few quick recipes here.

I'm doing the sweet table for Christmas Eve lunch but I'll be tied up for most of December, so I've got a lot of baking to tackle in the next couple of weeks. First up: Nigella's star-topped mince tarts, only with clubs, rabbits, and dogs instead of stars.
I had egg whites left over from the pie I made last weekend, so I whipped up a batch of Nigella Lawson's macaroons.
I was flipping through HOW TO BE A DOMESTIC GODDESS on my way to the mince tarts recipe when I realized I'd never made her cappuccino cupcakes. So I whipped up a batch, and unfortunately this has emerged as one of the few Nigella recipes I dislike. I'm actually glad it only made 8 instead of the 12 it was supposed to.
I'll spread the other 7 around to a few people. Hopefully they'll like the flavour more than I do.
A new blog post is up! A post in which I bake a bunch of cookies and give myself a spook! (The very first recipe link is on there too! Pumpkin sugar cookies!)

I can't believe I haven't baked from this in years. Shame on me. This morning I'm having Christmas Muffins (orange, nutmeg, and cinnamon) with rooibos tea.

I've been missing my cookbooks during my DIY kitchen remodel. Today they are back where they belong ❤️🍽
Woke up to a dusting of snow outside, couldn't resist taking a pic with Nigella Christmas!
It's great to be able to find so many recipes online, but I still love using my cookbooks. Here are three of my favorites. I love the way Nigella Lawson writes about food. #cookbooklove #photoadaynov16
#cookbooklove--I have a small cookbook obsession. I have about 50, and I only use a handful of them. I ❤️ the beautiful pictures of food...😍🍕🧀🍳🎂🍩🍪#photoadaynov16
