In this book, Harry is given more responsibility and starts to act more like an adult than a child. This one is really interesting to re-read knowing the major twists at the end. I remember reading this book at my great grandma's house, completely absorbed and ignoring everyone. It's a shame you can't erase your memory of books and read them again fresh. I remember this one being really suspenseful. Still very compelling even though I know the end

I've read these books countless times and they hit progressively deeper. At the end of book 6, my heart both longs and aches for the wizarding world. This time through the series, I'm appreciating the complexity, beauty, and value of the characters' relationships to each other.

I'm pretty sure this one is my favorite of the series, not in the least because I really love Harry and Ginny together. But the comedy and drama balance out SO well, too! #childrenslit #reread

This was a treat to read as I haven‘t read it in probably 15 years. I am rereading the whole series which I started when I was a kid and then had to wait years for each new book to come out. This go round I‘ve been able to read without breaks and it‘s nice to go through the story continually. I enjoyed this one. I still stand my the third book being my favorite in the series but this was a nice reread treat.

At last a solid thumb‘s up. After really enjoying the start of this series, I found books 4 & 5 rather disappointing. #6 got things back on track!

As the penultimate book of the series, this was always about setting the pieces for the grand finale. There is a lot I love nevertheless- Slughorn, the increasing sexual tension (although a Weasley twin would have been a better match for Hermione), the horcrux and Dumbledore‘s true affection for Harry. Not sure how Beatrix will cope with the final instalment - so many deaths! She cried and cried at the end of this.

I still love these books, despite Rowling‘s ickiness and the books themselves being problematic in so many ways. I‘m so happy to share this world with my kiddo. We finished this morning and hope to watch the movie later this week, then it‘s on to the end. There will be tears.

Oh the palpable excitement I experienced as I impatiently waited for each of these books to come out! Reading them again as an adult, I don't have that same "feeling;" in fact I find more to criticize, such as, how many times and different ways can she tell us that Poor Slughorn was portly?! ?. "His belly proceeded him" "he lingered at the Great Hall during meal times" we get it the man was FAT

JFC Ron is such a slut shaming asshole midway through this book (to Hermione and his sister). That fight with Ginny! Ron is horrible but so is she. Ginny is so mean, poking right into Ron's insecurities. Can you imagine movie Ginny yelling at Ron and shoving it in his face that everyone around him has kissed someone except him? Ouch. Not that he didn't deserve it. Also, where did he learn to slut shame but from his mom, who does it to Fleur?

Zoe-h Ron had bugged me since that fight he had with Harry in Goblet of Fire. Definitely my least favorite of the three. 8mo
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @Zoe-h tbh I have a lot of affection for Ron but this is by far his lowest point, him at his most insecure and worst! 8mo

I‘ll be honest, I never really enjoyed this movie as much as the others, but after reading the book… WOW! This book has by far been the most intriguing and kept me hooked the entire way through. Getting more insight into Voldemort‘s past was my favorite thing about the book. This book had me questioning more about the characters and their motives, especially Snapes. I definitely need to go watch the movie again. I loved this book!

This is my fav! I thought a lot about what a strong character Ginny is. She's skilled at Quidditch and the DA. She stands up for people like Luna & Neville, & doesn't drop what she's doing for Harry. I wish we had more of her in 7. I also thought about how Dumbledore's secrecy hurt everyone. I thought of him as such a flawless character when I was young, but truly, he could have helped the war so much if he'd share more info w/the Order and Harry.

I‘m starting to think that the slot of mystery book club coordinator at the library is their equivalent of the DADA professor at Hogwarts. Not that bad things happen to them, but nobody seems to stay in the position very long. I started attending regularly in September 2016, there have been five coordinators.

The latest one left to become…a flight attendant. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not that there‘s anything wrong with that, but it seems like a 180 career turn!

AlaMich Wow! And these days, being a flight attendant means taking your life in your hands, with all those deranged passengers. 13mo
Reggie Lololol we have a position like that at work where nobody lasts more than a year. I‘m glad someone else uses this reference. 13mo
Magpiegem 😂 I left a job as a Senior Lecturer at a University to become cabin crew (air hostess). Trust me, when you fly the people looking after you come from allllllllll walks of life, it‘s fascinating. 13mo

I've been in a continuous reading slump, so I decided to continue on with my Harry Potter reread. I'm loving experiencing these as audiobooks for the first time as it helps me appreciate these books in a new way. I think book 6 may be my favorite. The perfect blend of humor and seriousness. Love seeing the characters discover love and dating in a more meaningful way, too.

Book #6. Harry is asked to have private classes with Dumbledore, which add light to fill in the gaps of history on how Voldemort became who he is. This book has misery, tragedy, and friendship of course.

Since the movie The Half-Blood Prince has never been one of my favorites, it surprised me how much I enjoyed reading the book. I especially loved how we learned about Voldemort‘s life and background.

Even though I‘m ready to start reading the final book, it‘s also a weird feeling to know that the story is about to come to an end.

I love how much we learn about Voldemort‘s past, and it‘s satisfying how Dumbledore is finally no longer ignoring Harry. As a big fan of the Harry & Ginny pairing, the second half of the book is very sweet. The ending remains, after all these years, powerful and sad.

The 6th instalment of the Harry Potter series was a lot darker than the previous books, and I really liked that. The plot seemed like one long build up for the final book, but I'm glad that we have the foundations for the final battle. Friendships were put to the test and relationships were founded which I like to see, as the characters are growing up. Sad and happy at times and I enjoyed it overall. Looking foward to finishing the series!

I always have mixed feelings about this book in the series. Coming off of the fifth one, it seems good but when you think about it. Dumbledore constantly puts a underage child at risk and expects him to basically give up his childhood for the sake of the saving the world.

Also, I read so much slower now, if it wasn‘t for audiobooks and a job that requires some noise outside of cubicle life, I would probably be at one book read a month.
