I‘ve been reading too much YA/NA fantasy & romantasy lately, a little goes a long way for me in these genres & this was pretty weak in comparison to my other current reads. But I didn‘t want to DNF just because I was comparing it to Iron Flame 😅
Nothing happens until the last 3rd of the book & suddenly it became terrifying & weird. So it was a long journey to get to the good part, but then I was riveted. I didn‘t care about the romance though

I was up late last night/very early this morning reading, I could barely put it down! Finished up this afternoon and wow I really liked this book! Definitely had some creepy vibes and a sweet little romance, now I can‘t wait to get my hands on the second book! Not my typical YA read but wow I may have to look for more like this one!

*For those that have pictures at the moment*

So anytime I am reading this book on my kindle this little guy pops up in the corner of my screen whenever I turn a page.

Is this normal? If not kindle is sure trying to bring out the creep factor in this book 😏 Stalker octopus 🐙 vibes maybe 🤔

I think I went in with expectations exceedingly high. I had heard great things abt the author and don‘t get me wrong, there‘s something kinda wonderful abt this book, I did enjoy the style. The plot itself kinda dragged a bit. I wish the pace was tighter, or maybe the book was shorter. I very nearly bailed, and felt that the first 2/3 were underwhelming. Glad I finished it tho! I will read more of her stuff, but prob won‘t return to this one

5feet.of.fury This is exactly how I felt about this one. It‘s was such a slog & then it got good at 66% 😂 5mo

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤This book has it all, atmosphere, gothic vibes, retelling fairy tale, horror and page turning action. I can‘t recommend this YA book enough. However, I would recommend to older kids, since the horror and death elements are pretty vivid.

12 sisters. Three dead. The island whispers it‘s a curse, & Annaleigh is desperate to protect her family. And then they find a door to a mysterious ball, and the mysteries keep on coming.

This was very interesting! The horror was very well done, and the spooky atmosphere kept me shivering. Annaleigh was a complex character. But there were a lot of loose threads, & not enough foreshadowing for an ending that felt abrupt & unresolved. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

Today, I‘m sharing a book I ordered online from Books A Million on December 27, 2022. I‘ve never shopped with BAM before. I received this book in the mail yesterday. It has a beautiful front and back cover and beautiful artwork inside. I‘ve never read this book so I don‘t know if it has mermaids in it or not but the book cover is making me think that. I like mermaids.

This one was a soft pick for me. It started strong. Love the concept and characters, especially the narrator. However, the ending felt a little scrambled to me, and for a little more gruesome than I anticipated. Still, it was a solid read and I will definitely pick up the sequel due to be published this summer!! Great #LMPBC pick, and one that has been on my TBR for years!!

I liked this even more than Erin Craig's other book, Small Favors. A spooky, gothic, fantastically creepy fairytale retelling. Erin Craig is masterful at writing subtle, small details that are just so creepy and cause the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up. Perfect read for this time of year.

Started this book last night. I'm enjoying it so far. I read Small Favors earlier in the year and enjoyed it, so I thought I'd read the author's other book. A creepy retelling of the twelve dancing princesses sounds perfect for this time of year.

this is THE book.
it's the first fantasy book I read and it was absolutely wonderful.
this story is a retelling of "12 dancing princesses" and it's amazing how Erin had described everything in every single detail in a fantastic way.
honestly I was #teamfisher in the first half of the book, but when Cassius began to appear more often I completely changed my mind... so... #teamcassius4life

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5/5)

“House of Salt and Sorrows” is a creepy and dark retelling of the “12 Dancing Princesses” set in a world that I found intriguing. There was a lot of death in this book, and the mystery within it was fast-paced. The romance was cute, but it was very insta-love for my taste. I wish the epilogue had more to it as there were questions left unanswered and this story definitely would have benefited with a book map.

Apparently, this is a retelling of a fairy tale called “The Twelve Dancing Princesses” which I have never read, so I can‘t comment on how the story compares to the source material. This is a pretty entertaining mix of suspense, romance, with a dash of creepiness thrown in.

This book was a wild time, and not in a good way. An author has to know when there are too many plot points in a book and I‘m sorry, but a Twelve Dancing Princesses murder mystery retelling set in a newly created fictional world with many murders and ghosts as well as new gods and a (maybe) love triangle with a Monday‘s Not Coming styled semi-twist at the end is too much. Way too much. 2.75⭐️

It took me a couple chapters to get into, but after that I was hooked and finished the book pretty quickly. Author does an awesome job depicting scenery and it felt like I was watching it as a movie in my head. I would recommend this read to anyone who loves dark fairy tales, mythology, and storyline with a slow burn romance laced throughout. 4.5/5 Stars. I loved it!

I was tempted by the premise of this book being a retelling of the The Twelve Dancing Princesses, one of my favorite fairy tales. That part was done well, and I appreciated how it fit into the story. I did not, however, care for the main character nor the antagonist/s. Some of them felt like they were pulled out of thin air just to keep the story going, but had no real meaning in the bigger scheme of things. Worldbuilding > characters here.
