Enjoyable, if a little sloggy and predictable. There were some really touching moments and I‘m all for sapphic romance and strong female characters. Not perfect, but it broke me out of yet another reading slump.

During Pride Month, I will be trying to highlight a book each day that follows this calendar!
The tagged book is a fantastic YA sapphic fantasy novel featuring a diverse cast, and set in a world that is free of homophobia. 🙌🏽 This was Maya‘s favorite book last year, and I also loved it when I read it in January. #pride #pride2022
I rather liked this one. It‘s not the best book ever, but it‘s like….. comforting. I had very few breakout emotions, didn‘t hate the ending, and no main character or author threats. Not bad. 😊
Tamsin is a witch that was banished from her homeland, cursed with the inability to love. Wren has spent most of her young life caring for her father, ignoring her ability as a source, a person who can give magic to witches. These two pair up to help stop a mysterious plague that has enveloped their land.
Yes, this a sweet YA romance, but it‘salso a story about sisters. And has fantastic LGBTQ+ rep in both main and minor characters!
Well, looks like I will be hanging out in our guest room for the next 10 days, since I was (luckily?) the only one of the 3 of us that tested positive - and has symptoms - after this weekend‘s exposure.
While Aaron and Maya are at work and school, I gathered up as many supplies as I could from around the house to help me get through 10 days of quarantine. Of course there are lots of books! Although all I want to do right now is sleep. 😷😩
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 153.

Hopefully can finish this today while I clean and pack for a weekend trip
Well look at that! I read 46 books in May - I may have crammed a bunch last weekend especially a graphic novel binge!
Here‘s my break down:
* 8 TBR books
* 5 rereads
* 37 library books
* 24 audiobooks
* 19 graphic novels
* 2 ebooks
Next up to figure out my bookspin ❤️
Faves include: Saga series, You Brought Me the Ocean, Sweet & Bitter Magic, Darius the Great is Not Okay, and rereading Tyrant‘s Throne!
I wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't. There was little to drive the plot, an anticlimactic ending, and some forced storyline. I almost DNF'ed, but I continued because I kept hoping the story would get better. Instead, I found myself disappointed and I was barely engaged by the end. I am glad I am finally done this one.
This week of reading 📚
I'm having a bit of a hard time getting through The Gilded Ones but I think it's maybe because it slowed down a bit and hasn't fully hooked me yet. But I'm definitely going to finish it--hopwfully this week.
Very excited to get into my audiobook of African Europeans after hearing the author on a podcast!
A banished witch without the ability to love and a girl with the ability to see magic search for the cause behind a dark magic plague. Thoroughly cute and enjoyable. I saw the "twist" coming but because the story was so focused on the relationship developing between Tamsin and Ren, that didn't feel like too much of a letdown. And magic queer girls falling in love is always going to be a plus for me.
Sunday morning with some good books
1. Sweet and Bitter Magic, A Master of Djinn, Invisible Women, and The Gilded Ones
2. The Heartbreak Bakery by Amy Rose Capetta
3. The Art of Taking it Easy, Klara and the Sun, Rule of Wolves, The Office of Historical Corrections, and Finlay Donovan is Killing It

Sometimes you just need a mug cake
Trying to catch up on some Netgalley reviews and do a little reading over lunch
