Loved this book! Found so many connections to my own childhood that was relatable snd found her way of telling her story interesting and an easy read. Would definitely recommend reading this for a book club!

🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯. It is fantastic. Read this book. I could not put it down. Excellent weekend read.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book will hurt to read or listen to. The resilience of the author to be able to live through the childhood she had as a child in a family of "hippies " is a testament to what children can endure. Her family lived in the wilderness of the Yukon and other places. He favorite food was bear meat. So much in this book will blow your mind. I recommend.
Perfect dedication for a buddy read book with my Mum!
We both really liked this one. A wild wilderness upbringing, survivalist family, nudity, drugs, thievery, mental illness, family love...never a dull moment in this book! Hard to put this one down.
#Audiocrafting
This book definitely recaptures the 60s and 70s in all its craziness.
North of Normal fits well on a shelf with The Glass Castle and Educated. It‘s a memoir of an unusual childhood and a family fraught with mental illness. Cea is frank about living in a teepee, a truck, vacation cabins broken into during the off season. Brought up with nudity and drugs and sex in front of her throughout childhood. What a life she‘s had!
I read this in just a couple days, and it kept me turning pages way past bedtime. Memorable!
Was able to snag this one on audio as well, so I am listening while I take down the tree 🎄🙃

That feeling when all of your library holds come in at once 🥴
Bottom 3 books from @Reviewsbylola #newyearwhodis recommendations.
Everything else for ToB... I‘ve got some reading to do!
Thank you Holly for this terrific birthday collection 💜. It‘s going to be hard to choose which to read first!
The flowers still look amazing and sparked interesting conversation with my bookclub (during a virtual chat). We looked at your website together 💜.
@michellelav you were so right what a wild book. 5* all the way. Loved it this woman is resilient xoxo
This has been compared to Educated and The Glass Castle, which is spot on. Cea grew up with one of the most dysfunctional families I could have imagined. I‘ve been struggling to find a book to keep my attention recently and this one did the trick. #bathandbook
Thank you @monalyisha for organizing #NewYearWhoDis and for doing a giveaway. I love these list swaps! It is fun to see what another reader recommends. I read two memoirs by Canadian women, and I would never have heard of these books without @michellelav The tagged book was my favorite. I still plan to read others off her list.
From these two lists, the ones I own are The Lady from The Black Lagoon, The Poet X, Sing Unburied Sing, and Circe.
This memoir of the author‘s unconventional (to say the least) childhood draws comparisons with The Glass Castle and Educated. They all made me grateful for my own childhood! This one was hard to read emotionally, as she deals with neglect and abuse but also a page turner. I needed to know how her life turned out. Read for #NewYearWhoDis from the list of @michellelav [Spoiler in comments]
Reading my first #NewYearWhoDis book from @michellelav So far, this is very readable but I feel sorry for her childhood.
I love a good memoir and this is definitely that. This memoir tells the story of a young girls life in the wilderness and how she came out of it resilient as heck! If you enjoy memoirs I recommend adding this one to your list. 📚 Also she's a Canadian author so thats just a bonus! 😊

So this helped me to break out of my reading slump and I finished it in less than a day. The family dynamics are bizarre and at times really sad, but this kind of memoir is my kryptonite. I can say it was not quite as good as my favs (Educated, and The Glass Castle), but definitely a pick if you are into disturbing family of origin stories #24in48
I'm a sucker for odd family of origin dynamics told in #memoirs - bought this while listening to The Memory Palace on audio. Plan to give the audio a rest for the evening and start in on this one! I am WAY behind for the readathon, but trying my best to log some hours

Picked this for my Amazon Prime read after passing it over several times. It was so good! It's amazing what some kids go through in childhood. I would compare this to The Glass Castle and Educated.
Finished my pick for #LMPBC. There was a lot to take in with this book. Though I don't want to say too much before my group gets a chance to read it. Very comparable to Educated by Tara Westover. How these women survived let alone thrived, despite their upbringings, is incredible. I can't wait to read my groups thoughts on it all.

A fascinating and alarming memoir about a childhood spent in the woods and on the run. Cea Sunrise Person grew up living in tents in the Yukon wilderness and squatting in unoccupied summer cottages in Alberta.
Excellent on audio. Trigger warnings for child sexual abuse.

I‘m on a #memoir streak right now and this one did not disappoint. If you liked reading Educated by Tara Westover or The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls or Wild by Cheryl Strayed or Maid by Stephanie Land... pick this up! #audiobook was read (very well) by the author
My #bookoutlet haul arrived today!! 🎉🎉 I went overboard during their sale last week. I completely blame @emilyhaldi and @Mdargusch as we spent 48 hours carefully mulling over our carts together before we checked out. #bookhaul
#North from my tbr.

Interesting story. Sure don‘t agree with how they lived, and the poor girl had such a crazy life. I liked that she continued her story, though not in as much detail or in nearly as many chapters, into her teen years and adulthood and how she dealt with her unusual background. People compare her dysfunctional family life with Jeanette Walls “The Glass Castle”. It‘s been a few years since I read it, but the neglectful adults sure fit the theme!
1. Hopefully the lasagna turns out to be yummy!!
2. Different growing up experience
3. Pretty sure I was 16
4. Fav cartoon characters(book)would definitely be Calvin and Hobbes
5. Aries♈️

The struggle to find these titles was real. I don't have very many directional words in titles, so subtitles will have to do!
@RealLifeReading
Long time no post! We had the fortuitous and unique opportunity to visit a fishing camp in Northern Saskatchewan. I only read one book. Must have been busy!
First read of 2017. My book club is reading this one for discussion. Love that I have a signed copy of this one. Such a great read. My favourite line in the book - "There didn't need to be an end, and as long as there was love, the rest could fall away." This is the poignant revelation Cea has after years of emotional struggle with her mother and the life she came to live with her counter culture family.
