This was fun and I really enjoyed it! It was funny and unrealistic, but just so much fun. I was happy to see at the end of the book that there‘s a sequel

"Second Aunt nods. 'Yes, you‘re not a whore, that‘s why you're so bad at dating.'"

This was wild from start to finish. It was absolutely ridiculous. You kind of have to accept it as it is and roll with it to get any enjoyment out of the story. It was completely unbelievable, yet I found myself entertained. The more you think about it, the more the story comes a little undone and doesn't make much sense. But, I had fun while listening to it.
I wanted to like this, but it really dragged on in most places and while the plot and concept are fun, it was not very engaging and I skimmed a lot of it.
A dead body is accidentally taken to a fancy wedding and the Aunties must figure out how to hide the body, save the wedding, and set up Meddy with the handsome and rich Hotelier.
2/5 read for a fun storyline but prepare to skip through a lot of circular dialogue
One murder, thousands of wedding guests and a Chinese-Indonesian family. This was a lot of fun and not what I expected at all!
When Meddy ends up killing her blind date, she calls on her aunties for help. It does not prove easy as her family are working on an island at a billionaires wedding. The family dynamics are brilliant and I enjoyed the second chance romance story too. Full of family life, friendship tales and laugh out loud moments.
"I hear about this kind of Internet scam before. Is called goldfish.” “Catfish,” I say. “No, I‘m sure is call goldfish. Because pretend got gold, but actually just a fish." #book13of24for2023 #Septemberbookclub
“You‘re not a mess. You just kill by accident only. Bad luck. Can happen to anyone.”

#InvolvesWedding This has a ridiculously low Litsy rating, but I remember thinking the audio was hysterical in a light fluffy way (though the romance part was a little meh) but I guess I‘m not sentimental about weddings 😂 #BookBinge @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
I'm at chapter 8 and I've been laughing so much these last couple of chapters. Really enjoying this book with the conversations between all the Aunties and Meddy. Hope it continues!!
I was expecting to love this book, but found it a bit too silly for my taste. I think I will enjoy it on Netflix, though.

I loved the aunties, characters were fun & relatable. I loved how much love they had toward each other.
This was a real feel-good book, atmosphere was hilarious & light and I had so much fun with this book.
Romance wasn't my favorite but it was okay.

Dial A for Aunties follows our main character Meddelin “Meddy” Chan, her Ma, and aunties as they work together to help get rid of her dead blind date‘s body. However, they are caught in a dilemma between disposing of the corpse and catering a wedding for their high-profile client. As they figure out a plan, Meddy runs into someone whom she hasn‘t seen in years, and she is overwhelmed with a slew of unexplainable emotions.
This is a screwball romantic comedy mixed with a cozy mystery. I lost track of how many laugh out loud moments there are. Ma and the Aunties are so much fun as they each have their own ideas how to get rid of the body. The family relationship is the heart of this book. I love seeing families that would do anything for each other and the Chans definitely protect their own! If you want a lighthearted, fun book, this is the one for you!!!
Sometimes you just want a fun and over the top, unbelievable caper of a book and this is definitely that. Meddy is single, having left a long term college relationship without ever telling her family about her boyfriend. Her mother sets her up with a handsy guy, which kicks off all the crazy antics of the story. Would be a fun film. There were a few great one-liners in the first part but that quickly gave way to totally unbelievable relationships and situations. All of the characters felt like caricatures and stereotypes. And by the end, i just couldn‘t care.
I am surprised by the many rave reviews of this book. I think the first thing I disliked about this book was that the aunties didn't have names. Which shouldn't surprise me that the character development was limited and very superficial. It had some “Weekend at Bernie's“ vibes and I had to remind myself that this was supposed to be more of a rom-com. The plot didn't really develop and became very repetitive.
Decided I needed a cute murdery kind of book so I picked this one up.
A surprisingly funny book which is so entertaining! I‘ve expected it to be a murder mystery but thankfully it turns out to be better! So entertaining that I‘m liking this author more than Sophie Kinsella now! If you are looking for something light and easy, should give this a try 😘 My rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I can‘t wait to start on her other novels once I‘ve finished my TBR! #bookspin #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks
I know this is supposed to be funny, but I find mom catfishing guys and sending daughter on blind dates creepy. And WTF? Daughter agrees to go on date, (with uncharged phone)then doesn't leave when the guy is a jerk, but rather gets tipsy and let's him drive her home? I can't even with this girl and her absolute lack of common sense.
Bailing Page 56.
I liked the characters in this book Medelin Chan and her Aunties are fun and quirky . I really enjoyed a glimpse into the lives of this Family. But the mystery was a bit of a dud - not impressed with the wrap up. But I will look forward to reading the next book in the series. So low pick. 💚🐉
I'm losing track of days. Thanks for the tag @SusanLee

1) Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Sutanto
2) It's a very absurd book that somehow works
@TheSpineView
Book club pick. This one is a 3/5 for me. While I did find the aunties funny, I thought the story was so so. But it did give me a chuckle, so I will give it a pick for that reason.
There was something delightfully morbid about this book. It took me awhile to warm up to the MC but the rest of the characters were amazing
I never shared my amazing news, but I'm being promoted!!!!! 😍
I have recently fallen in love with cozy mysteries and I really thought this one would feel the same and it did not. It‘s very possible it‘s because I read it when I had Covid but I couldn‘t keep the aunts straight and the story was so convoluted that it took me out of the book completely. The ending was fun though so I ended up giving it a 3 stars and decided not to continue on with the sequel.
I loved this book! Fun mix of comedy, family drama and murder. I laughed out loud several times, and I enjoyed learning about Indo-Chinese culture. I read the Netflix bought the rights to this, so I hope they make something good out of it! I thought the whole time this would be a fun movie.
This book had a good mix of everything, murder, romance and comedy. It‘s hard to pick a favorite scene but the murder scene was my epic.
The aunties had me laughing crazy. Being a south Asian myself, I found the scenario very relatable. 😂😂
What a genius plot!
Book rating: 4/5
Such a funny story, although you have to suspend your disbelief about the dead body plot. Enjoyed learning more about Indo-Chinese culture, the theme of family, and the romance. A great vacation read-started this on the plane to L.A.
⭐️or maybe no stars? This might be an unpopular opinion, but this book was TERRIBLE. Poorly written (all telling, no showing), asinine plot with a million holes, the characters weren‘t likable or compelling and made truly bizarre decisions. I think the reader was supposed to root for the MC, but she and her family were so callous and kept doing terrible things to cover up for terrible things that I wanted her to go down.
This was such a funny book, loved it, had me laughing out loud. The Aunties are all brilliant!
This book was hysterical. I was caught up with it from the start. Great cast of characters and although the storyline isn‘t new it was done in a way that was fun and I loved the cultural elements as well. #readingchallenge2022
17/22 This book was silly but fun. It took me a little while to get into it but I definitely wanted to know how it resolved. As a book riot listener it did suffer slightly from being over hyped for me. But in a challenging month easy listens like this were exactly what I needed. 3⭐️ #roadtripUSA2022 #California #booked2022 #aboutsisters
This was quite the book! Difficult to explain, but completely entertaining. Part crime novel, part romance, part family drama, part comedy. Looking forward to the next book.
Round 42 of my #tenatatime TBR. I‘ve been reading so many library books lately, so it‘s been awhile since I‘ve gone back to just picking from my own stacks! Most of these are pretty recent purchases.
Library haul! I'm excited to read each of these!
Such a fun book. Very light reading, kinda silly but ultimately a cute story.
Honourable mentions to On the Red Hill by Mike Parker and These Precious Days by Ann Patchett
An excellent month's reading
How to get rid of a corpse while working as photographer at a wedding on an island resort.
A hilarious mix of rom-com and cirme caper. I enjoyed it so much I stayed up late to finish it.
