I haven‘t rly enjoyed the last “fairytale-esque” books I‘ve read, but this restored my faith in the genre. Beautifully written, magical and simple- I adored the MC and all the other characters. It gave “The Village” vibes, if you‘ve seen that movie.

Like the best fairy tales, this story was deliciously dark as it exposed the darkness that can be found in anyone under the right, or better, worst circumstances. An isolated village, an impenetrable forest, mysterious creatures, missing villagers, neighbors, & strangers are all in play in this YA fairy tale retelling that felt a little long but which nevertheless kept me turning the pages. It‘s eerie, dark, romantic, & an entertaining read.
Fortunately, after repeating pages 117-148 the story picked up exactly where it was supposed to on page 149. 😅
I sometimes…okay, often…wonder how such big mistakes go unnoticed by the printer/publisher.🤷♀️
More amusing than annoying though so it‘s all good! I just have a book with extra personality!
I actually don‘t mind that it wasn‘t very “horror”. I was intrigued by the mystery from the start. A handful of the characters were likable and the rest were insufferable. My main issue is that the end leaves some things unresolved. Pretty big things, in my opinion. I still had fun reading this. The author‘s prose was beautiful.
This will be mailed out Monday afternoon 🤗
This was a delightfully eerie historical horror about a small charming town, where things and people start to go very very wrong. Do not be deceived by the beautiful cover and the fact this is categorized as YA. This is very dark and violent at times. A great Fall read & I really enjoyed it! 5⭐️

A really good but somewhat claustrophobic book about a small town on the edge of the woods. The founders of the town thought they had banished all the monsters but one nasty winter they return.
It's more fairytale than horror but it definitely has it's creepy moments.
#Pantone2022 #CardamonSeed @Clwojick
#LMPBC @sprainedbrain @magyklyXdelish @HufflepuffGirl90 Julie I'll mail it Saturday.
I really liked this book! Well-written and super addictive… I read big chunks of it all at once and didn‘t want to quit. I‘m not sure it‘s horror-y enough for our horror #LMPBC group, but it definitely has its creepy moments and I loved the characters.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This will be on its way to you by the end of the week, Ashley!
Deliciously creepy! My first read by this author and it certainly won't be my last.
I liked her 1st book better, but that could simply be because this one gave me nightmares. She hooks you in from the very 1st paragraph. Creepy, spooky…a small town seems to be disintegrating and it seems like Ellerie‘s family is right in the center of it.
I stayed up past my bedtime to finish this book that takes place in an isolated town surrounded by a creepy forest filled with monsters. I kept needing to know what was going to happen.
My April wrap-up. Small Favors, Only a Monster and Lady Rogue were definitely my top 3.
Not my best editing. But this is the most books I've read in one month in years.

Thanks for the tag @Kshakal

This book is beautiful inside and out. It‘s enchanting and magical
A story of what I would call “fae” feeding on the chaos they bring to a small town. It reminded me of the short story “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street” - how aliens may have set a few things in motion, but ultimately neighbors turn against neighbors as suspicion/paranoia takes over. Ellerie tries to stay afloat as her small town falls apart from the inside, her family divides, creatures roam the woods, and she falls for a secretive stranger.
FEBRAURY WRAP UP!!!!
I read 6 books this month which I am super proud of. My favorite being ACOTAR of course.
Can't wait to see what books I read in March and what kind of mental adventures they bring me.
Spending today writing back to all my Litsy pals 😌
Next on my list! 📖📚
I heard good things about these books. I can't wait to dive in. ☺️
⭐⭐⭐⭐
The type of story I can imagine being told over a campfire! Very solid read.
This was a really good book. Creepy which I wasn‘t expecting at this level. Like I legit didn‘t read it at night near an open window 😆. Left with a tad bit of a book hangover.
Doing a lot of yard work today but took a little break to do my January Wrap Up. I read a total of 5 books & am halfway through Small Favors. My favorite from this stack would have to be Seven Sins of Snow! February I doubt I'll get much reading done because you know "Adulting". It's my birthday month & we also will be doing a lot of remodeling to our house & yard this month I hope. But my goal is to read at least 3 books including my Buddy Read?
HAPPY SATURDAY 💞
My bookstore picks today! Small Favors was half off and the last one! I definitely feel lucky. 😌
Wishing it was a movie the whole time I read it. Planning on reading it again soon !
I am 18 different types of creeped out. Like it was a good read but now I feel like I‘m being watched…. Can a book stalk you?
PSA… this book is seriously creepy, a horror filled version of the movie the village. I am so glad it‘s morning while I‘m reading this. There‘s still a very good chance of nightmares. 😨😬😟
Just like with her previous book, Craig‘s writing is beautiful and the atmosphere she creates is delightful. While I liked the American gothic feel of the story, it wasn‘t creative or unique enough to really hook me. The “twist” was obvious from the beginning, and the ending was predictable.
What an incredible book to end 2021 with! I love this authors writing style.
This was ok, the writing is really nice but seemed a bit meandering.
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 340.

I loved this book. Erin A. Craig didn‘t disappoint! A House of Salt and Sorrows was great and this one just as great! A strong young female main character doing her best to keep her family together and fed, a mysterious young man from the woods, and a town that slowly turns on each other. It‘s a romance, a horror and even a little fairytale mixed in. It‘s a must read!
So excited to add this to my TBR list 🥰 Can't wait to start reading it next month ❤
A beautiful Saturday means a nice long walk in the park with a book! 😃💕📚🌾 I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far!
My #bookspin for September wasn‘t working for me. About 1/3 in and it feels like an M Night Shyamalan movie- and I‘m decidedly not a fan. Bailing. #unpopularopinion as it has a 100% rating before me 🤷♀️.
Since I got this from a Litsy giveaway I‘d like to pass it along to another US Litten. Is YA horror or thriller your jam? Be the first to comment that you want it and I‘ll send this your way.
Here‘s my #SpookyAesthetic for the #HauntedHollowSwap (aka #HHS) hosted by @wanderinglynn (And I‘ve tagged a creepy-ish book that sounds really good from my tbr.)
18 books read this month!
My favourite was Small Favours, it was so dark and eerie and perfect!
I can't wait to start reading books for Halloween!
This was a fantastic listen. Fairytale horror reminiscent of The Village.
Underneath all of Small Favors gorgeous writing, there lies a powerful story about what lurks deep within the hearts of humans and what it takes to reveal that. I loved House of Salt and Sorrows, but I truly think Craig outdid herself with this one. There were some fantastic parallels that brought even more depth into the story and it never failed - not even for a second - to fully captivate me.
Writing was so good + hauntingly beautiful. Love the while creepy aesthetic of the book + the bees. Loved the plot + mystery, especially the history + close knit village. Lots or characters so confusing at times until I got comfortable. Liked the drama with each character, the odd happenings in the village with the animals, the massacres in the pines. romance enough for it to be satisfying. Loved the paranormal plot twists. ending was satisfying.
"There's a power in names, don't you think? Once your name is given away, you can't help but be pulled along by those who have it."
Small Favors is a young adult historical fantasy about a tiny isolated town that finds their citizens in the grip of a series of attacks from monstrous creatures on supply runs, mysterious newcomers, resentments against each other, bad luck and increasing violence. Ellerie Downing is a teenage girl trying to hold her family together town gone mad. It has the right amount of suspense, action, world-building and characterization 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
