Omg. It's Nigel Thornberry!
Love Tim Curry
Hopefully, I can get the dog to stop barking for 30 minutes of quiet so I can start on this one today. Nothing is wrong with him. He just likes to complain when his meatball stash runs out and he has to eat Fresh Pet & kibble like a peasant.

One more Violet, Krause, and Sunny must escape Count Olaf‘s machinations to steal their fortune. While dark, I enjoyed this book more than the first.

My daughter and I listened to this on our way to Savannah for the LLS book con! Tim Curry was amazing, this one didn‘t have the full cast. Lots of fun and made the ride go by so fast! It took up 3 of the 4 hours.
Another great installment. Poor Uncle Monty 😥
Tim Curry's narration is *chef's kiss* 😘

Waiting is one of life's hardships. It is hard enough to wait for chocolate cream pie while burnt roast beef is still on your plate. It is plenty difficult to wait for Halloween when the tedious month of September is still ahead of you. But to wait for one's adopted uncle to come home while a greedy and violent man is upstairs was one of the worst waits the Baudelaires had ever experienced.
This reminds me of the tagged book for “Scarf” #OminousOctober @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks #Scarathon #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick

This is the 2nd book in the Series of Unfortunate event series. This addition follows the 3 Baudelaire children as they go to a distant relative of the name Montgomery Montgomery. Escaping Count Olaf, or so they think. I love this book in the series. Perfect sequel and perfect for readers!
Second book is more scary and creepy with all the reptiles & murder 😖😰But I like the team spirit of the kids. Tough gets going 💪

I really like the first two books in the series so far, I have listened to them both. Tim Curry narrated this one and he is fantastic, as always. While these are “middle grade” books, Count Olaf is menacing enough to be scary. Threatening to cut off baby toes and all!🙀 Wth? But I love it.
Well, halfway through book two I laid down for a nap, and slept for 11 hours 😂 I‘m not even complaining. That‘s what holidays are for right? And now I can stay up all night, listen to the next few in the series, and get some cleaning, or crafting done! 💖

I really enjoyed this book. Even though it is clear from the very beginning what the outcome of the story will be, I still found I could hope along with the Baudelaire children that this time might be different. Alas, their story is rather tragic and filled with ups and downs. This one will stick with me. I will miss some of the characters, people and animals, that I was introduced to during this story.
I wonder what is going to happen next...
In life it is often the tiny details that end up being the most important.
Was the series that really got me into reading as a kid
So much fun!
The plot for this story was much better than the first book. I loved the reptiles and snakes, plus I am always happy for a murder mystery.
I do feel like the ending could have been better though.
This was such a delight to read still, that I immediately bought the next book in the series.
Enjoyed reading this with my kids. Love seeing my 5 year old‘s face at the big “ah-ha” moments. 🤗 #raisingreaders
1. Lemony Snicket‘s The Reptile Room (my son may have lost interest, but I haven‘t)
2. Night Film and The Outsider
3. Currently watching The Outsider unfold on HBO. Interested to see the plot changes/deviations with the book still fresh.

Reading this one with my kiddos...we‘re watching the Netflix series, and are enjoying the heck out of it.
“it is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. we all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. and yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know.“
12.6.19: The adventure continues!
11.10.19: It‘s slow at work this morning, so I‘m chillin with tea and a book.
10.30.19: I really love the covers on my copies of the first two books.
The Baudelaire orphans are sent to live with Montgomery Montgomery who was a distant relative.a villainous man named Count Olaf who they lived with before arrives in a disguise in an attempt to kill their guardian but fails to steal the Baudelaire's fortune.
After watching the Netflix series (which was excellent), I'm now reading A Series of Unfortunate Events for the first time. Absolutely delightful!
⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why do I enjoy this series so much!?
The Reptile Room is the perfect sequel to the first book in a Series of Unfortunate Events, which I also loved. Maybe I enjoy the characters, or how short the story is, or the vocabulary! Whatever the reason, I‘m already looking forward to the third book.
In this series, our orphans find themselves staying with Uncle Monty who is a bit eccentric as he owns snakes of all kinds and his very own reptile room.
Waiting is one of life's hardships
I thought that this book was bad and only bad. The names for each character are weird and abstract. The storyline is ok but I really didn't like it as a whole.
Modern fantasy and was written in 1999. This book is about three orphan children that are about to be in some trouble. The beginning of the book has the children going to their new guardian, uncle Monty. Stephano, their arc minisious comes to take the children's fortune and in the process kills their uncle. The children set up a trap to catch him but he escapes once again
I've read the first four books in the series in both print and audio (narrated by Tim Curry) multiple times since 2013 but for some reason, never get much farther than that. I'm determined that *this* year, I'm going to make it through the whole series *and* watch the NetFlix offering!
Currently reading the second book (print this time for the illustrations by Brett Helquist): The Baudelaire orphans are off to live with their Uncle Monty
Book 18 of the year finished Feb 23, audio
#24in48 #bookshelfie! Super sleepy from getting up early to read, but some good strong tea is helping
I enjoyed this second book in the series even more than the first. It's more fun, and there's more feeling, maybe because that author has already established situation, characters and tone in the first book.
The story is simple but clever and very enjoyable.
I've listened to the audiobook read by Jim Carrey and it was fantastic. Carrey is also increasingly owning the story and it was such pleasure and fun to listen to him.
I never made it past book 3 so I‘m going to give it a go now. One down, 12 to go
I‘m so glad I took another look at Scribd; I definitely get more than my money‘s worth out of the subscription. #audiobooks #unfortunateevents
Congratulations @vivastory!
I'm paying tribute to the Reading Reptile! (RIP 😢).
For 10 years, I lived within walking distance to this amazing Kansas City children's bookstore. It was filled with books, paper machier sculptures, weird displays, games, and a cat. It was a big part of kids' childhoods. And through this place I saw Lemony Snicket, Jon Klassen, Jacqueline Woodsen, John Green, Rainbow Rowell, and more. ❤️💚💙💛💜🧡

I am sorry to tell you that this story begins with the Baudelaire orphans traveling along this most displeasing road, and from this moment on, the story only gets worse.
" The Most Magnificent Thing In The Universe Is The Mysterious" watch season 2 of A Series Of unfortunate events
Really enjoyed this one, especially since it has my favourite guardian from the movie in it!

If you know somebody very well, like your grandmother or your baby sitter, you will know when they are real and when they are fake. This is why, as Sunny began to scream, Violet and Klaus could tell immediately that her scream was absolutely fake.
"That scream is absolutely fake," Klaus said to himself, from the other end of the Reptile Room.
"That scream is absolutely fake," Violet said to herself, from the stairs as she went up to her room.
