Katherine Center always delivers the perfect balance of rom-com!
So far a so-so because WHY DOES EVERYONE JUST KEEP REPEATING EACH OTHER??!?!?!
Like “This is the book” “THIS is the book?” “This is the BOOK!”
Just annoying. But I‘m thinking this is gonna be a good story so not gonna bail yet
I don‘t think I can forgive Charlie for all the times he was SO cruel and horrible and immature. And Emma for all the times she was SUCH a moron. But…I also really liked it? I mean, I certainly sobbed and laughed and swooned as if I liked it, so…
This was a fun read, and a nod to all of the rom-com tropes we love and why we rely on them for a great story!

Sitting on my front porch enjoying the slightly breezy overcast morning while reading and watching mockingbirds fly back and forth between the trees in my front yard.
This has the potential to be a great and fun romantic comedy but falls a little short. The male protagonist has a bucket load of issues and I am not sure they fully get solved more than magiced away - also there is a fair amount of reflecting on life lessons versus showing them. For all that though it was an easy enjoyable read and perfect for the start of a short break in the sunshine

I‘ll start out by saying Katherine Center is an adorable human being. Love her on Instagram and I will continue to follow her but I won‘t be rushing to read any more of her books. I had a feeling I wouldn‘t like this because of the (sort of) enemies to lovers trope. I have a hard time cheering for the woman to end up with an asshole. But that‘s the case here. Also she says “Charlie Yates” approximately 7000 times! (I‘m exaggerating but it‘s a LOT)
What a fun book, but that‘s no surprise because KC is one of my favorite authors. Very funny, witty banter, and passion-no, it‘s not spicy- it‘s about feeling the passion someone else has for something through writing. I really really like how Katherine Center tells stories. Book #65 in 2024
Frothy, fun, so much witty banter. The first half just flew by for me on a recent flight. There‘s a hiccup in the middle that I didn‘t love, but you have to have some conflict. Center is a beloved author, but she can be hit or miss for me. This one was a definite win though the title & the cover were offputting. I loved how the main characters found a good rhythm, respecting each other‘s work & challenging each other. A delightful summer read.
Another win from Katherine Center! I loved this book so much, she always delivers 💕
I'm starting Katherine Center's newest. It's so pink!
Yay! Library hold is in, just in time for the last day of school tomorrow!!!
I had some extra points on amazon so I splurged and got the special edition!! Just beautiful 🩷
Katherine Center is hands down one of my favorite authors. I love her books so much! They are funny, realistic, witty, and relatable, and The Rom-Commers resonates on all those points. This reads like some of the great rom-com movies from people like Nora Ephron and Nancy Meyers (and frankly if this doesn't get turned into a movie, I will be shocked). I am in total and complete love with Charlie Yates right now.
I‘m happy Katherine Center is passionate about the love and hope a rom-com can bring to its reader because she's really good at creating an interesting story. These characters were great. Small thing, I wished Emma recognized apologies needed on her part whilst demanding them of others.
Absolutely terrible picture of the warm, fun and effervescent Katherine Center. What a fun day with a friend - lots of gossip, chocolate, bakery and books. Now off to bed with my new book! 🩷
This review is a longer one (and I‘m really not sure if I explained my feelings about certain aspects very well 😂), but if you‘d like to muddle through, here‘s the Goodreads link:

I mean... why can't KC write faster? Couldn't stop reading this one and finished in less than 24 hours. So, Ms Center, if you see this could you, maybe... possibly write like a book a week or something? Absolutely loved your author's note at the end as well. (Read as an ARC and highly recommend you preorder or ask your library to purchase- publishes summer 2024.)
I LOVE ROMANCE READS and this one is a hilarious and heartwarming ode to the genre. Emma is a screenwriter with a passion for crafting the perfect rom-com. When she lands the dream job of rewriting the script of her idol, the cynical Charlie Yates, sparks fly…literally and figuratively! The banter between Emma and Charlie is pure gold, with a delightful enemies-to-lovers dynamic!
I‘ve been a longtime fan of Center‘s books, and this one really was a fun & engaging listen! Emma‘s own screenwriting career aspirations were re-prioritized in the wake of a sudden family change. But the timing is right for her to actually have a dream job of working with her own personal screenwriter hero— Charlie Yates. And while the storyline may be easy to predict, only in all of the best ways. I loved the banter, the chemistry & all the love!
This was funny, charming, and had a unique point of view that was really refreshing. The most well respected and award-winning screenwriter tries his hand a a rom-com and it is terrible. Career-ending level of awful. So they bring in an unknown writer who has a tough road to help ghost write it and make it passable. Shenanigans ensue, can these two broken people find their way, alone or together? Comes out June 11th!
My favorite read of March was actually an ARC. This comes out in June and I highly recommend it!
Another great romance by Katherine Center. Really enjoyed that the main characters were writers. Sorrow, humor and joy mixed together in a perfect combination.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.
I had the best time with Katherine Center, Ali Hazelwood, and Julia London at the Lark and Owl Bookstore Romance panel last tonight! These authors were open, authentic, and absolutely hilarious! So excited to have Katherine Center at my own event next month 🥰
This was a funny, heartwarming and at times melancholy story of a writer who is a caretaker for her lovable father. She falls into assisting with a rewrite of a truly tragic rom-com by her screenwriting hero. Hilarity, a touch of miscommunication and love ensues. Like many of Katherine Center‘s books, the characters feel more genuine and flawed then typical romances and deal with serious issues in their lives.⬇️
I absolutely loved this book where two authors get together to do a rewrite of one of the authors work. This book has all the feels!I laughed out loud in places, felt my heart racing in others as I was reading so fast to find out the outcomes of situations. I welled up with tears in my eyes in other parts of the book, and did I say I laughed out loud like a zillion times! This was an ARC in exchange for my review.
Amazing! I love Katherine Center and literally jumped for joy when I received this ARC. A story of love, friendship, community, and friendship. You‘ll experience tears, laughter, grief and joy all intertwined perfectly. Not to mention, Emma and Charlie are everything! The Rom-Commers will be available June 11th, 2024 and I highly recommend! #LitsyLoveReads
