Oh how I've missed shopping for books! So glad I was introduced to this author (thanks @Breanne1 !) I can't wait to read them all! #bookhaul
The subject is fascinating: end of 19th century painters in Paris, genius talent, their art and debaucheries: Renoir, Manet, Monet, Van Hogh, Gaugain, Pisarro all show up, with the lead role of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, painter, drunkard and whoremonger extraordinaire. We have the usual fantasy elements, and plenty of crude humor and sex expected from Moore. I found the humor a bit tired though, and the muse just too unrealistic. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 ⬇️
A patron recommended this to me, so I picked it up; I wasn‘t entirely sure if I‘d enjoy it - I‘m not too much of an art history buff - but I‘m about halfway through, and I‘m actually having a blast. (The names of the artists are at least familiar ones, and don‘t require much foreknowledge!) #sacrebleu #christophermoore #arthistory #famousartists

On top is a 1959 Peanuts. My sister will ♥ it. The bottom 3 hardcovesr are in new condition.
There's also a few books on here that will be mailed out to some #Littens on Monday. And only 1 duplicate Christie.😁
“This is a story about the color blue. Blue is the sky, the sea, a god‘s eye, a devil‘s tail, a birth, a strangulation, a virgin‘s cloak, a monkey‘s ass. It‘s a butterfly, a bird, a spicy joke, the saddest song, the brightest day. Blue is sly, slick, it slides into the room sideways, a slippery trickster.”

For me this book is an “almost.” It follows fictionalized versions of the well-known impressionist painters and their interactions with a mysterious colorman who sells paints. It is funny in places and the story is good overall, but it felt a bit forced to me, as though it was trying too hard.

What an interesting story! I wasn‘t sure what I was getting into at first, but the author‘s imagination took me on a wild ride with some of my favorite Impressionists. I appreciate the author including book recommendations in the Afterword. (As if I need more books to read.) 🎨 #MountTBR #LitsyAtoZ #LetterM #ReadingUSA2019 #Ohio (author from)
1. Urban fantasy books with some wine
2. Work Saturday, lap swim and hopefully Pam Jenoff event on Sunday (weather permitting)
3. Loved this humorous historical fiction (with a fantasy twist) novel
4. Double jointed thumbs, which is pretty boring really
5. Done!

1) I love the cover to the tagged book. I'm very slowly reading though. Keep getting side tracked by other books.
2) We might go out to eat or something. Not really sure yet.
3) Pink. I just don't find it appealing.
4) Joseph Michael. I would have been called Joey for short. My mom still loves this name, but never had sons.
5) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A friend gave this to me a few years ago. “I can‘t get into this, maybe you‘ll like it.” So I tried it and felt the same way. But last weekend, I started the audiobook to give it one last try. Voila! It was funny, full of art history, with a big scoop of mystery on top. Must suspend some disbelief, but that should be expected with Moore. ♥️♥️🇫🇷 🎨👨🏼🎨

1. -6°F. I don't know what the real feel is
2. Low 70's.
3. 73 I think
4. I guess on days that aren't nice. You know too hot, too cold, rainy. I'll read in any weather really.
5. I don't have a winter read. I'll read anything, anywhere, any time. I tagged one of my current reads.

I‘m still on my Paris-related book binge. I have the print copy of this, but couldn‘t get into it last time I tried. (A few years ago.) It‘s on Scribd audio, so I‘ve been listening and now I get it! But I saw a blurb about a map in the book. I may go AC/DC and read both!
I normally LOVE LOVE LOVE Christopher Moore, but I just couldn‘t get into this one. Different from his other work, but yeah, DNF.

Needing a lighter read after finishing my last book. Hope this does the trick! I‘ve enjoyed half the Christoper Moore books I‘ve read, so I hope to like this one 😃
Newest commute listen (oh how I don‘t miss redundant radio). The audio gods must be shining on me - a story about all the great painters with a mystical angle. Written by one of my favorites! Happy 😃 Camper!
Second time reading this one. Well, technically I am listening to it this time around. I am a huge fan of Vincent Van Gogh...and Christopher Moore.
While definitely a novel with Moore's vibe, this was a departure from his others that I've read. And that's not good or bad, one way of the other. Moore takes on historical fiction: Paris in the 1890s as fellow artists and friends seek answers for Van Gogh's death (and the mystery surrounding it). Moore weaves fact with fiction with his usual flair. I'm glad I finally dove into this. ⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏼
I'm #bluedabade for Sacre Bleu! Convenient that the book I'm currently reading is appropriate for @Liberty and one of her giveaways. Funny historical fiction.
Some of the books I found laying around my living room. The stack on the left were lent to me. Haven't had a chance to read any of them yet.
That's one sexy looking cover. I'm a fan of Moore's work, so I'm looking forward to diving on into this. If you haven't read Lamb, throw it on your TBR list now. His writing's smart & funny!
Incredibly interesting and well written. I highly recommend this book
But I still have this one!

How I'm ringing in the new year. Happy New Year Littens 🎉🎊
Closing out the year on a positive note. Christopher Moore always leaves me in stitches.
Just loaded up my phone with some audio books. I'm going to be entertained for quite some time.
Part 2 of my Christopher Moore prompts---#artrelatedbooks. This bizarre novel that follows a young painter as he looks into the supposed suicide of Van Gogh. It's craaaazy......so basically an awesome Christopher Moore book. 📚🖌💙🇫🇷#seasonsreadings2016
Today's #bookmail is The Crowns Game by Evelyn Skye, set in Russia the tsar announces a competition between his two mages, the winner becomes High Mage to the tsar, & Sacre Bleu by Christopher Moore, another acid trip flashback ride through Mr Moores mind. #deathtonobooktober
Great book. Absurd yet enthralling like everything by Christopher Moore ❤️️📖❤️️📖❤️️📖❤️️
A few of my favorite #bookmarks! Places I've been or wish to visit. And one that I've managed to hang onto for a few decades. This of course doesn't count my favorite alternatives - postcards and business cards! #booktober
I had to put this down while I read something for my bookclub. I'm so happy to be picking it up again..... Penis!
#day27 #somethingforsept #favevillan One of my favorite villains is The Colorman. He is such a creepy little funny villain.
😭😭😭
Just started this. I'm really enjoying it so far. It's Christoper Moore. How couldn't I!
This book is hilarious and so very fascinating. One of my all time favorite fun reads so I'm picking it for #recommendsday
Enjoyed the history about 1890s Paris and all the great artists and enjoyed Moore's irreverent style. The inherent sexism in the Muse premise poses some problems, but I still enjoyed the book.
The most hilarious historical fiction I have ever read, complete with photographs of actual masterpieces woven into the plot.
I really enjoyed this book. It was fun and funny and the mystery was detailed enough that I didn't know the ending before the first chapter. Mythology is a bit heavy at times but still fun.
