Etched in Bone
Etched in Bone | Anne Bishop
"New York Times" bestselling author Anne Bishop returns to her world of the Others, as humans struggle to survive in the shadow of shapeshifters and vampires far more powerful than themselves... After a human uprising was brutally put down by the Elders a primitive and lethal form of the Others the few cities left under human control are far-flung. And the people within them now know to fear the no-man s-land beyond their borders and the darkness... As some communities struggle to rebuild, Lakeside Courtyard has emerged relatively unscathed, though Simon Wolfgard, its wolf shifter leader, and blood prophet Meg Corbyn must work with the human pack to maintain the fragile peace. But all their efforts are threatened when Lieutenant Montgomery s shady brother arrives, looking for a free ride and easy pickings. With the humans on guard against one of their own, tensions rise, drawing the attention of the Elders, who are curious about the effect such an insignificant predator can have on a pack. But Meg knows the dangers, for she has seen in the cards how it will all end with her standing beside a grave..."

March 2 #SavvySettings Graveyard This was the last of a series, one of my favorite authors, Anne Bishop created a wonderful world here. I personally love graveyards, I took this photo of one near my home, The tree in the background was In fog. It was cool. I read this one in 2019. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Fifth book in The Others series. I think this one was more about family drama related with Officer Monty. I liked Twyla character, even Simon had his reserve to deal with her. It was very slow and finally we can see some romance that took 5 books to see it grow😳(no spoiler since it was obvious) But I still like the series. I have 2 more to read. That beautiful vampire mouth decoration was given to me by @JoScho in 2019. Her mother made it. 3.4⭐️

monalyisha Love that vamp mouth! What a talent, @JoScho 😍! 3y
Gissy Last book read for #Summerween readathon (YouTube) prompts-halloween colors (it has some greenish color and black😜); paranormal; read mostly during the night and with spicy tea.

iread2much This is one of my favorite books in the series because I love how it focuses on Monty and showcases how an awful individual can cause the world to break just as much as groups of bad people. I love all the books in this series! I can‘t wait to see what you think of the next two books. Lake of Silence is probably my overall favorite. 3y

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 3y
Gissy @iread2much I probably will read that one on September. I read somewhere that another book will be published next year? Have you heard anything? I collected these books one by one because I wanted the hardcovers and they are like out of print. So I bought each copy from different sources. So worthy!! Priceless📚📚📚🙌 3y
iread2much @Gissy ooo, what a fun collection! I love this series so I buy each in hardback as soon as it comes out, as well as the audible version. There is another one coming out! I think March of next year. I can‘t wait, and it‘s going to focus more on the crowd, which will be fun. 😊 3y

I finally finished Etched in Bone, I was on a mission as you can see yesterday I started at a rather low percent but I was going to finish! After just finishing a sexual abuse book it was hard to read one about emotional abuse but I love this world and characters and wanted to finish off the series. It was well done and I‘m happy for once I finished a series in a year! Featuring Calli in her half sleep mode #dogsoflitsy

I adore this series and I finish the books so quickly. It makes me sad the next book seems to be about different characters but the main characters in this series do have a satisfying conclusion.

I loved this final book in the series! I was a little worried that since this was the last of Simon and Meg‘s stories she might rush some of the overarching storylines but she spun the tale wonderfully! I‘m so glad there are more books in the Others World! I can‘t wait to read Lake Silence! It sounds like it might qualify as a “Crowgard Cozy”?

@Nessavamusic I Can‘t believe it‘s taken this long to make it this far! lol #GloryToTheGuild

Nessavamusic It‘s so good right?! Now you can start the spin off 5y
Owlizabeth I love this series, but couldn‘t get through Lake Silence. I am stoked for the next one, which takes place in Bennett! 5y
iread2much Oh, it‘s so much more than a cozy, it is much more a locked room mystery. I loved it 5y

What a sweet ending to the story. This was a perfect end to Simon and Meg. I know people were looking for hot romance, but this ending really stayed true to the character. Not saying I won‘t be happy if we learn more about them in future books though!!

I do so love this series! This book slows WAY down on the world building and really focuses on character development. There is love, and discussions about all kinds of love, including tough love, as we learn more about all of the characters. 5/5 stars. Read if you enjoy urban fantasy for the unique ideas and are ok with lots of blood and gore

Well it's been a long build up for the last page of the book but I'm so happy! This one was thrilling and while I'm sad to learn that this is the end of the Lakeside Courtyard at least Bishop isn't leaving this rich setting altogether! Plus, that makes cameos a real possibility!!

I'm not sure how how felt about this book. In general it's a pick because if you read the first three you may as well finish. I really loved the first book. I would rather have her tie up the first in a longer book, or two books - this felt a little more contrived by the fourth. And that stinks because I loved the premise of this series.

This is truly a wonderful series. It's about man coexisting with nature and all the other living things we share this earth with. How man allocates and control more than they're entitled to that they destroy the homes of other creatures and their food. How nature fights back in retaliation by bringing out weather changes, storms, floods, extreme heat, earthquakes. If only man would learn not to complicate things and be content with a simpler life.

Bishop brings the first arc in The Others series to a satisfying close, with blood prophet Meg Corbyn and wolf Simon Wolfgard braving human treachery and paranormal threats. Despite some recurring plot devices that might incite an eye roll, the action ramps up to a satisfying close. Bishop maintains the integrity of the terra indigene world she started 4 books ago, and her characters gain substance alongside. One hopes she has more stories to tell
