Taught my step daughters and their friend how to write a letter today because I lead by example thanks to #litsylove It‘s a dying art. They had no idea how to do it. I even made a joke that 1 in 100 stamps is poisonous so don‘t lick them or else you will die and they believed me. Ha!

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I have a young friend (19) who I wanted to send a Christmas card to, and asked her for her information. She had no idea what info I needed. And she is a smart educated young woman. There is just no need for them to know how I suppose. Which is why I love all the Litsy Pen Pal Groups! And stories like yours. Receiving snail mail is the best! 3d

Today‘s sneaky bookshop purchases along with a couple of gifts not pictured. I should‘ve been preparing for the return of my stepdaughters from Sweden but I was getting in my last bit of me time before their arrival. Shh! Don‘t tell. All of this was less than 50 bucks. It the background is my gorgeous new pot. I‘ve given my balcony a makeover while the kids were away and I had more time to get stuff done. I‘ve finally given up on the vegie garden.

Rissreads I've always had this romantic idea of having a balcony to sit out and read on. Do you use yours much? What is your view? 1d

Just some of yesterday‘s scores. I spent the day in a nearby country town with a friend, Jess & her babe, Juniper. We both❤️old stuff so did over all the op shops. I restrained myself but I had a feeling I was going to find something by Ken Done. I‘m slightly obsessed so I was tickled pink to find this tray. It was just such a shame my fav cafe in the world wasn‘t open. We did have a nice, long lunch with my partner & another friend though.

Joanne1 Love Ken Done! My sister, @Victoria_Clyne had a Ken Done doona cover and matching wall art when we were kids. It was bits too. So bright and cheerful. Love Possession too, read it as a 21 year old when everything is so ‘meaningful‘! Still remember it 20 years later. 1w
Victoria_Clyne Mum had a local artist make the wall art to match the doona. Pretty sure I still have the wall art somewhere @joanne1 1w
crazyspine Love that pillow 1w
Rissreads That pillow is just gorgeous. I've stacked one of the books, Ive never heard of it but it sounds fantastic. Also love op shopping so I will keep my eyes open for it. I'm trying to read more stories about Australia. 😊 1d

This week‘s library sale scores. Fill a bag for $5. I could have stuffed more in there but my ride home that day doesn‘t approve of my vast library so I showed great restraint. I wish it was illegal to bully book hoarders. Mum has a point I guess. This is my second bag from this library 😂

1. Kids are skiing in Sweden so we slept in after a big night watching live bands & fireworks, pub crawling & crashing parties. I made a big breakfast then we walked to the beach for a refreshing 🏊‍♀️ . Afterwards we laid around in the ☀️. The arvo was spent drinking poor man‘s margaritas in the hammock and reading. Now I am having a long bath with a glass of Shiraz while Stew makes the bed & chicken roasts in the oven. Bliss! 2. Tagged. 3.

MrsMalaprop What a fabulous day. But I have ask, what are poor man‘s margaritas? 3w
LapReader @MrsMalaprop it‘s a margarita made up out of what you have in the house on New Year‘s Day. We used Lift instead of limes. 3w

Yesterday‘s op shop buys for the bargain price of $13.50. I collect funky tea cups for my mix matched set. At 1 stage in my life I owned Cat‘s Eye but I am unable to find it so just bought myself another copy. Skippy was a childhood fav show. With 🇦🇺 on 🔥 I thought it might be time to watch An Inconvenient Truth. I‘m yet to read The Secret Life of Bees but the DVD was only $2 so I got it for a future time as I always like to read the book 1st

LeeRHarry I think Cat‘s Eye is my favourite of hers... it‘s hard to pick! 😊 these fires are horrendous 😔 3w

I‘ve got it! @Lizpixie Thankyou. I am currently perusing it with a cuppa and a small piece of that delicious chocolate. Bliss. As you can see our decorations are still up. I just can‘t pack them up yet. I love the silly season.

BarbaraBB Such a great book ❤️❤️. I am surprised there‘s a censored edition, I have never seen a censored book before. (edited) 4w
Lizpixie Oh thank god! I hope you like the book, I actually got it myself from my swap partner @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Did you like the chocolate? It‘s from a small artisan chocolatier at Emu Plains, they roast their own cacao beans and make it all themselves. I love the hot chocolate in their cafe, it‘s rich & thick. Yum. 4w
Lizpixie @BarbaraBB I know, I‘ve never seen one before either. The funny thing is, in the same shopping centre the QBD Bookstore had it without the censored but BigW next door had these censored ones. I didn‘t even realise there was two versions at the time! 4w

I‘ve never tried eggnog or had a white Xmas. I want to swim on Xmas day. I‘d hate to chop down a real tree but they are more beautiful than plastic ones.

I am a huge fan of carbs. I moved out of home at 18 so I could eat pancakes whenever I wanted and I do. My favourite pizza is a margarita. I love the drink too. I always be good and have white rice when I eat Chinese or Thai food. I always put on weight in France because of all the yummy bread. I am just like my paternal grandmother.

December read for #LMPBC I decorated the tree with my step daughters on the weekend. We danced around to carols and had a lovely time. I let my anal mother in law and partner do the fluffing up of the tree and put the lights on then joined the kids in the fun bit.

MidnightBookGirl That is a gorgeous picture! 21 pts! #WinterGames #SlayBells (edited) 1mo

Thankyou for spoiling me @Rissreads Very keen to read this and then pass it on to some people I know who I think should read it. I love the detail on the mug. Emus or ‘wobbly bottoms‘ as we call them in my family are currently my nephew Ted‘s favourite things so I hope he doesn‘t see my bookmarks xo

LeeRHarry I picked this up the other day as will be reading it for book group next year, think it will create a lot of good discussion! 😊 2mo

More op shop finds. While I‘m not a huge fan of Marilynne‘s writing I can‘t resist a book named after my niece. I‘m giving Kate Grenville another go too as I‘m still not sure about her either.

CarolynM I'm not a fan of Kate Grenville. I've tried two of her books but couldn't make it through either of them . 2mo

CarolynM The Idea of Perfection and The Secret River. Very different subject matter. I think I just don't like her writing. 2mo

1. I am a pussy so thrillers. 2. Handmaid‘s Tale is scary enough for me. All that stuff has already happened somewhere in the world. 3. Done. 4. True Blood. 5. I faint easily so no gore. My anaphylaxis training each year is a big day for me. 6. Do you guys know about Ivan Milat, Australia‘s worst serial Killer? Google him but not before bed. @teebe

Last week‘s op shop scores. The P&O cards are so pretty my partner asked me not to send them to you Litsy Folk but save them to write to him. He even offered to buy them off me! He wishes I could turn my op shopping into a business. The burb cloth is for an old friend‘s new baby girl Juniper Mabel and the little bird is for my Xmas tree. So going to work in an op shop when I retire so I get first dibs on the books.

1.Scrabble. 2. Mexico for as long as I can remember. 3. I don‘t do book goals. I just squash as much reading as I possibly can into my life eg. Today while I walked to the shops to get groceries, I listened to The Handmaid‘s Tale read by Elizabeth Moss. It‘s a reread & I am loving it. 4. Ben Elton. Haven‘t read anymore since. 5. Are you in the bath scrolling and drinking red wine on this Friday night like me? Off to watch Planet of the Apes soon.

Loved this coffee table book I borrowed from the library and the amount of beautiful houses with heaps of books inside. I hoard books so it has given me much more confidence to pile my books up everywhere and that there are other people that do this too and it‘s actually stylish. My family think I need an intervention, I think they are the ones who have the problem, they don‘t own enough books.

Yesterday‘s Lifeline Cardiff purchases for the grand total of $13. Most of these are gifts for the kids but the rest are treats for me. I‘m all alone this weekend & I‘m loving it. My step children & partner are away. I‘m having big sleeps & tea & treats in bed. I went to ballet class yesterday, shopped for hrs, drank some nice wine & did some decluttering. Today I‘m off to watch Hustlers, the movie in a Gold Class Cinema=cocktails & yummy food.
