Got these ones from the book swap earlier in the year. Lovely quality.

I think the sun is going down on my last summery day 😭 so I am sitting on my balcony reading about books and drinking a birthday bottle. I think the tagged book will be the one I take to the Sydney Writer‘s Festival this year to read. Turns out my parents will be in old Sydney town for dad‘s drs appointments to do with his accident not this January but the last so we will catch up for dinner both nights and they have booked the same hotel as me.
Today‘s Book Nook scores to entertain myself over my quiet Easter weekend. Yin yoga this morning really helped with my dicky hip. I need to get myself sorted as I got myself a showgirl gig. It may just be the greatest achievement of my life! The Angelica Banks and Judy Blume are for my book crazy niece. I could have filled another bag but it may not have been a good look. Libraries are the best invention ever. Medicine is great but books are fab.
This morning‘s📕 swap scores on the way to a spot of grocery 🛒 before the shops shut tomorrow for 🐣. I‘m home from visiting the relos & will have the w/e off 🩰 so intend on cooking up a ⛈️ & cleaning like it‘s spring to prepare for a term of performances that culminates in a comp at the Opera House in July. I‘ll be performing 3 dances. I also have to tack 2 tutus & rest. That will happen while I catch up on Handmaid‘s Tale. It‘s great so far.
Today‘s finds from the Little Free Library on the way to ballet.
Late term op shop after work. My collection of these yellow books is growing next to my orange penguins on my bookshelf. I will use the Easter paper to wrap my special kidlets Easter presents this year and because the school holidays are upon us I may have time for the craft project to put next to my other dolls.
After work op shop purchases from earlier this term. Speaking of term, there are only 3 more get ups & I‘m on hols! Hopefully I can try out some of the tagged recipes then. Same for the embroidery. Unfortunately the 👙 top is too small so I will pass it on to my niece. I‘ll keep the bottom for me as I like to mix & match. I ❤️ enamel vintage kitchen stuff. I thought this bowl was cute & a great price. Clay earrings are another ❤️ of mine.
Day 2 was equally awesome. Nikki writes like she speaks! I have resisted buying every book spoken about at each lecture though I really want to. I‘m really proud of our Aussie authors at the moment. It‘s so sad their work isn‘t being valued. If you ever get a chance to see Kink in the Tale please do so. It made me cry and laugh and also feel uncomfortable which is exactly what it is supposed to do. I also caught up with some old friends.
What an opening night for the Newcastle Writer‘s Festival. If you don‘t know this woman you should get to know her. She is the first winner of Alone Australia and the granddaughter of one of my favourite authors Charmian Clift. She made me cry and then at the end made me sing. She hasn‘t worn shoes for 15 years and she said her greatest gift was the birth of her daughter then she died at the age of 3 and that was her second greatest gift.
Last night on my way home from a ballet class with my favourite teacher, Georgia, I scored these at the Little Free Library closest to my place. The bottom and top ones are for my nephew. Hope the middle ones for me are good. Anyone read them?
1. In primary yes. I shone in Year 4 under the fabulous Mrs. Barrett even became class captain. Early high school no as I was boy mad but managed to pull it together and do well in my senior years. I partied hard though. 2. Reading the tagged book in preparation for the author‘s talk at the local writer‘s festival this weekend. It‘s rather repetitive unfortunately.

A work acquaintance gave me these plus some others to donate to my building‘s library. Picture taken on the glorious seats of the Newcastle to Sydney trains. Already graffitied so you won‘t. Ha!
Betty‘s book shop visit a couple of Sundays back. My first visit since they expanded. The Thermo book is second hand.
On Saturday after ballet my dance partner, Denise and I went to a book fair to raise money for the Greens party who I happen to vote for. Books were $2 each. I could only stay for a half hour as I had a hair appointment but I was very happy with my finds. I‘ve been after the tagged book since my city‘s writer‘s festival around this time last year. Next year I plan on going for longer and enjoying a treat in the cafe after. I‘m not a fan of rushing
Got these from the 📕 swap back in early March on my way to 📕 club at my friend Shanthi‘s beautiful 🏡 that I also looked at buying many moons ago. I had to perform the next day & promised myself I wouldn‘t make it a big 1 but I‘m a yes woman. A bottle of plonk later I was in a taxi before Cinderella hour. This completes my collection of Helen Garner‘s diaries. All of which I‘ve managed to get from book swaps! She is one of my favourite authors.
After my pole dancing class on Monday, I walked home via the Book Swap. Here are my scores. I love a random free cd to hear some different music to what I normally listen to. It‘s getting darker earlier which I hate.
1. First comes the heady scent of jasmine then the stunning wisteria. The jacaranda flowers get stolen by a storm then boom it‘s summer. Heavenly.
2. The tagged book reminded me of the movie Stealing Beauty in places. I love both. Maggie is my second favourite author after Margaret Atwood.
I wish it was coming into spring again in Australia but unfortunately I have a cardigan on this morning on the tram on my way to work. Winter is coming 😭.
That was a perfect w/e. I ❤️ an Indian summer. 🩰 & op shopping on Saturday followed by a lay at the 🏝️. A lay in & a pot of tea on Sunday morning before Pilates then a visit to the French market for a madeleine, raclette & olive & cheese bread before a bookstore visit followed by another lay at the 🏝️ then my online ballet class followed by a wine & stretch then a yummy dinner before an early night. Bliss. If only everyday could be a w/e.
A spot of op shopping yesterday after Friday work drinks with the new girl at the yacht club. Grand total 🟰 $43. I did the whole of Lifeline over in an hour. That‘s impressive for one who wishes to escape with a slow shop as often as time and funds will allow.
Started this yesterday arvo after my zoom 🩰 class. I had a weird experience with a 🐕 following me onto the 🏝️. He was too excitable for my liking & eventually zoomed off & I was able to relax. God knows where the owner was. I think everyone thought it was my uncontrollable 🐕 off leash at a no 🐕 🏝️! Anyway 📕 is for Hornbag‘s Book Club & I‘m enjoying it so far 🐙 Really should have been doing house work but also needed a rest after a big w/e.
Yesterday‘s LFL scores on the way to a big 🩰 day yesterday. The Wally 📕 is for my nephew & the other 📕 is for me to use at work. I went to 📕 club the night before preforming. Despite telling myself I was only going for 🥃, I helped polish off the 4? bottles of 🍷 we got through. I managed to make it home before the coach turned into a 🎃. Just! I was up again at 5 to practise before rehearsals then onto the stage at 11:30 for a half hr.
Gifts from the 📕 Swap gods on Wednesday night after Reading between the Wines Book Club at Modus Brewery. I‘d never been there before. My spicy margarita and tuna ceviche was yum and it was the perfect late summer evening for a stroll home before bed. Lily Brett has been a favourite of mine since I was in my 20s and I enjoy a good magazine and loose leaf tea on the train to work to make me happy during the working week. These are some of my favs.
More summer holiday Red Cross Dubbo purchases I didn‘t get around to posting. Mum has the blue dress as well. She looks lovely in it so I decided I needed it too. Nan and niece sat outside while I shopped.
I live for the weekend & tried to rest & reset yesterday as this week is going to be a hectic one with rehearsals & performances next Saturday. So glad I walked up the hill to the Little Free Library as look what I scored! I‘ve wanted Red since it first came out! The day started out perfectly with a pot of tea in bed & ended with a few red wines. In between there was some glorious beach time. I even got some lunches cooked for school this week.
First 📕 finished for ‘25 from a few wks back. I ❤️ 📚 about the 🖼️ world & I so needed a happy ending with all the crap going on in my life & the 🌍 lately. I can‘t believe Bri gave me 1 after reading her non fiction. The weather has turned early this yr & autumn is already upon us. I‘ve been wearing a cardigan to work this wk & reminiscing about the 🏝️ days. Hopefully the change is just 1 of those tricks the weather man sometimes plays on us.
Book swap presents for the little people in my life from earlier this month when I went to visit them on holiday on the central coast.
These are from 2 different Little Free Libraries on my way to ballet towards the end of the holidays. The black thing is full of dvds. The math books are for my math obsessed nephew.
This one is a challenge. Picture taken last Sunday when I gate crashed my sister‘s family holiday yet again. The place in the pic is gorgeous and so great for families. So close to the beach and has different temperature swimming pools. The eccentric man who owns it lets my nephews and niece feed his fish at 4 in the afternoon. They love it. The apartment has plenty of space and there are nice walking tracks. It‘s the Star of the Sea at Terrigal.
Last night‘s scores from the Book Swap on my way home from pole dancing. I love a good magazine.
Books I found in the Little Free Library on my walk yesterday arvo before my paddle at the rock pools. The perfect way to finish a Sunday before my first full week back at school for the year.
It‘s been a hectic month so apologies @monalyisha & @Deblovestoread but I only started this one and am yet to finish it. Mainly listening when cooking, cleaning or walking as I was yesterday. I did become a widow though which is a bizarre experience to say the least. #auldlangspine
How I spent the last day of my summer school holidays. I restrained myself and only borrowed this many books from the book nook. Ha!
Yesterday‘s spoils from the book swap after ballet. The activity books are for the little people in my life.
These are from the Little Free Library closest to my place this past week.
Got these from a Little Free Library on the way home from ballet this week.
Found this on my phone from a couple of years ago. I can‘t even remember what op shop it was from! I did well that day though.
Guess what Satan‘s Little Book Coven are reading this month @Rissreadswithcats ? Perfect timing on your part. I‘m enjoying it so far. Here I am with dad on holiday last week at Mookerawa on a windy day that wasn‘t good for water skiing comfortably now I‘m getting a bit old. Dad‘s reading his beloved Peter Watt.
A book for my sister and some lovely smelling toiletries for me at the second last op shop I went to yesterday arvo. Grand total $10.
Before op shopping today I had a peak in the Little Free Library and scored these. 36 degrees in Dubbo today and I loved every bit of it. I‘m staying with my nan at the moment. This is one of her spare rooms. She took her car to be serviced so this is how I filled in time. We spent the morning running errands as she is hard of hearing and less mobile so needs more help nowadays. We had a delicious pub lunch. She was buggered at the end of the day.
Saturday‘s book swap finds. Lots for the nieces and nephews.
Op shop scores from a wk ago at Salvos Charlestown. Sometimes I‘m lucky enough to find clothes that fit me in the kids section which means they are cheaper eg. The striped 👗. I bought it to wear to work as it‘s cotton & we don‘t have air conditioning in many rooms at 🏫. It was only $4 & is size 16 kids. I did a demi character in my last 🩰 exam as a kid to 🌅 Boulevard 🎶 so keen to 🎧 to that again after so long! The socks are for my nephew 🎣
Yesterday‘s op shop purchases after ballet. Grand total 🟰 $17. It was another fabulous day at my ballet school‘s Summer Intensive. Pilates to warm up then a repertoire class learning the Aurora wedding variation from Sleeping Beauty followed by a mindfulness session. Then home for a wine and stretch. I‘m pretty sore.
I picked these up from the Book Swap on the way home from pole dancing on Monday night.
Today‘s after ballet op shop purchases for the grand total of $23. It‘s Summer Intensive week so I had 2 hours with an ex Australian Ballet and cirque de Soleil dancer and then an informative hour long lecture from a dietitian. She gave me some great tips. I was instantly hooked when I started to read the tagged book on the beach before my first pole dancing class in quite a few years! I love holidays and being able to do what I want when I want.
I virtually squealed when I saw this in the Dubbo book swap over my Xmas holiday there. It is every bit as wonderful as I imagined. Love this stunning creature‘s music and it turns out her poetry too. Think it will be a keeper. That‘s something I don‘t say often!
