February 2025 Book #7

Sorry, unpopular opinion here. I think this book was overhyped for me. That situation at the hotel was so unrealistic to me. Then, we have a character not only with suicidal ideation but also a plan to do it and it was ignored? I have read books with morbid humor like Hagman by Maya Binyam but from the beginning you see the absurd tone. I didn‘t see that in this novel. It was tragic so sad her situation but ignored⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) There were some funny scenes but in general, it didn‘t work for me. At the end we see a growth in some characters which gives hope to the characters.

Maybe the book was so well commented with great reviews and a rating of more that 4 stars in GR that I expected a stronger story🤷🏽‍♀️ 3⭐️

February 2025 Book #5

I really enjoyed this book but I understand is not for everyone because is slow, maybe story was dragged a little bit and some convenient actions present that helped that ending. I usually don‘t like or enjoy stories about addictions, maybe too close to work, but there was something in the writing style that I loved, how author described the characters, that self talking, reflection, so deep, so many wonderful quotes⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) It is a depressed, sad story but with hope. A drama but it was deep and beautiful written. I did care for Cyrus and that fríendship/romance was just beautiful. I will like to try another book by this author. This book really worked for me 4/4.5⭐️

January 2025 Book #10
I know this one didn‘t work for everyone but it worked for me. I liked the idea of a novel within a novel. The drama in the novel aunt Addie wrote was so silly, maybe too long but I lol. It was like watching the movie Clue but without a murder. When you thought you had the answer another ridiculous situation appeared. It was fun but the ending also has nostalgic, sad moments for aunt Addie. I like these covers😍 3⭐️

January 2025 Book #9
This is the conclusion (supposedly) of Mirren Triggs trilogy) I know first book is already translated (The Snow Girl) which is a Netflix series.
I liked the conclusion. At the end we see a mature Mirren who decides to make a choice in her relationship and life in general. The case in this story is so sad. A body was found with his “mouth sewn” and a father looking for his son who disappeared 30 years ago. 3.8/4⭐️

January 2025 Book#6
I think the opening of this story was amazing but then it was like forgotten, not well connected with the rest of the story. I liked the characters and the mystery/horror that was hidden in these mountains that seem possessed Nick. But then, the story was dragged to explain all this possession which concluded with an ambiguous open ending. I think the idea was terrific but maybe needed some editing? 3⭐️

Dimpsie invited some friends from the theater to spend Christmas with him in his castle located in a private island near to Edinburgh. Dimpsie was found dead near to the tree which appear to be an accidental death…Dun Dun Dunnnand the drama begins….
Quite predictable 😏 with some funny scenes but predictable. I enjoyed it as a holiday read. It should be a so-so but I usually enjoy these crime classic stories🤷🏽‍♀️3⭐️

The book Zuckerberg does not want people to read. The author cannot promote it but Macmillan can sell it- The story is on my IG if anyone is interested.
Anyone one else hear about this book?

jen_the_scribe I have not heard of this one, but this is one of many reasons why I love Litsy. Word of mouth gets more books read than anything else. Stacked, and I plan to share my insights on it when I do read it. 3mo

TheBookgeekFrau I ordered it Saturday right after I saw something on instagram about the author not being able to promote it on Meta platforms. 3mo
Bookwormjillk It was in a bookshop.org email when it came out. I put it on library hold based on the blurb, but this makes me want to buy a copy. 3mo
lil1inblue I stacked the book as soon as I read your first sentence. My loathing of Zuckerberg (and most tech bros) knows no bounds. I will be buying multiple copies of this book. 3mo
DogMomIrene My library doesn‘t have a copy yet. I hit that Notify Me tag in Libby and I‘ll let that cook. If I get itchy to read this one, I‘ll buy it. Because Zuck just disgusts me. I‘m surprised more of his employees aren‘t telling their tales. I‘m thinking there‘s a market for them and I‘d guess different people from different areas with various levels of access would have things to share🤞🏼 3mo

I wanted to read this book for a long time because it is well recommended. I liked but didn‘t love it. I think is too unnecessarily long but I never felt bored because you want to know about these characters. It is about this selected group of unlikable students who attend this special program of classics with this eccentric professor. A murder occurred and you know who did and how from the beginning of the story.⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) So this is a character driven story. I don‘t know about that ending. But I like that academia aspect of books and quotes. It was well written but too long with not much happening, it goes around and around of these guilty destructive feelings experience in different ways by each character. Like a Greek tragedy, no hope just self destruction. The author is the narrator in the audiobook. 3.75⭐️ 2y

Read during June😳This was like The Little Mermaid retelling but with a male-male romance. I thought it was super cheesy, very YA but cute story. Athlen was so sweet. 3⭐️
