3✨ Going in with a few spoilers I expected bullying, and telekinesis. I did not expect it to hit my feels as much as it did. Typically every girl gets her period around the age of 12. I know for me it was a difficult transition, but for Carrie it was so much worse! This plays on real feels of mine as a kid, and the worst bullies on the face of the planet. It has me thinking who was the real “monster”. #LosersClub

TieDyeDude My reading for the second half of October has been slow and my library still doesn't have copies of this available. I think the announcement of the new series probably had an effect on availability. I'm going to try to read this in November, since I read Salem's Lot recently. I did see an article about the new show and a hope that they cast a full-figure lead since Carrie is supposed to be heavier. 8mo

5feet.of.fury I liked Carrie, soooooo to the point compared to newer King, still good character studies just shortened. I liked the way the story was kind of bookended. 🩸 8mo

BookwormAHN I'm also on a 10 wk wait for Salem's Lot but it is a reread for me. I think I enjoyed Carrie more this go round. This also may be the only King book where he really stays with this story and we don't get everyone on the planet's backstory 😸 8mo

Balibee146 This was my first read of Carrie and I was surprised how short it was. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would as exposure to bits of the films meant it didn't hugely appeal to me. I think the writing style with the patchwork of voices /reporting style lifted an otherwise "by the numbers" plot progression. 8mo

Balibee146 Oh and I didn't spot any mentions of a character wearing a "sportcoat" in this one. Over the course of reading my first few King novels that kept getting mentioned and it isn't a terminology we use in the UK so I noticed it.... Then got a bit obsessed with it being mentioned often ..... I shall be annoying you all with "Spoartcoat" Spotting as the months go by... Sorry! 8mo

You don't really need a synopsis for this book do you? OK, how about bullied teenager uses telekinetic powers to get revenge at the prom.

After reading several of King's other books & not liking them, I decided to finally read one of his books that most people seem to rave about (to see if the problem was the particular books I'd read before) & it was.....ok. It wasn't bad but it wasn't earth-shatteringly good either.

OutsmartYourShelf It was mercifully quite short (I read The Stand & that was tough going) so the author didn't have quite as much time to go all around the houses instead of getting to the point. I skipped the pig killing scene. 3⭐
