Beth shows that women really can have it all. Ruby lives life by her own rules. And then there‘s Lauren, living the dream. But is anyone‘s life as perfect as it looks? Beth hasn‘t had sex in a year. Ruby feels like she‘s failing. Lauren‘s happiness is fake news. And it just takes one shocking event to make the truth come tumbling out…

My daughter & I were enjoying this book so much we orderd LS other novel holes before we had finished.

I thought this was a new novel but later found out it was written in 1987, a great year 🎂 🥳 😁😂

A lovely thought provoking Story about a school bully & his school councillor, how when treated like a monster& seen as a monster , it‘s easy to start seeing a monster too & even starting to act like one.

Kindness really does go a long way ❤️

🤯 wow what an incredible read , beautifully written, emotional and inspirational for its time. I completely fell in love with Jane , her strength, determination and resilience after everything she endured. I loved the narration ‘dear reader‘ it made it very personal.
I‘m a total sucker for a bit of romance and couldn‘t help but smile with the love they share , just how love should be, not materialistic or shallow . loved it! 🥰

My daughter and I loved reading this at bedtime , very relevant and brings up discussions about homelessness and the importance of kindness and not judging others.

Lots of facts at the back of the book about how many homeless people we have on the streets right now and what is deemed homeless and the different types of homelessness, sad and hard hitting but delivered sensitively for children

Wasn‘t what I was expecting (crime thriller like gone girl) but very intriguing from the start but would have loved to have delved a little bit more into the mother.
Girl A (Lex) is survivor from the house of horrors story everyone has heard about . Now Grown up and dealing with her past trauma it flicks back to past memories.
The twist caught me by surprise 😢

Bloody brilliant!
The full cast audiobook was fab , delivered in the style of an interview with each band mate of how the rock band came to be along with all their troubles along the way , the expected , sex , drugs, rock and roll.
Loved the characters passion for their music and song writing I found myself wishing I could hear their music! 🎶
I could just see this being a television documentary.

Best audiobook of 2021 by far 🤩🤩

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I've seen a few glowing reviews for this on audio. I might go that route when I feel like a reread. 3y

Edmunds turn to enter Narnia where we meet the white witch for the first time.

“ I say, Lu! I‘m sorry I didn‘t believe you. I see now you were right all along. Do come out. Make it Pax”

Was there any one else who had to Google what pax meant 😅

Just in case It‘s Latin word meaning peace 🥰

What a great chapter breaking Harry out & visiting The Burrow for the first time

Finally managed to kick refined sugar&caffeine 🙌 it‘s been over 2 weeks now since Iv had a tea or coffee. It was NOT easy ,after day 2 of no sugar or caffeine I was on serious detox, vomiting , mega headache, heart racing. It was a full on drug withdrawal, I am super sensitive😅

I thoroughly enjoyed the original retelling it is quite different from the Disney version we know so well, the second part of the book was the story of the fairy who was involved in bringing Beauty and the beast together, I must admit that was a bit hard going at times

My first Monique Roffey read and definitely won‘t be my last.
More than just a love story, dark, deep & political theme. Really hit a few nerves with me , mans desperation for ownership they dominate and violate, selfishly seeing only what can be done for them. Then there is the jealousy of the women that cursed the mermaid. Jealousy is such an ugly emotion 😞. Loved the Caribbean dialect.

“ For hardly a week passed in which the times did not carry a paragraph describing how some eavesdropping little sneak - ‘child hero‘ was the phrase generally used - had overheard some compromising remark and denounced its parents to the Thought Police. “

Only two chapters in and so chilling 😱 . Parents afraid of their children ... Kids treating executions like entertainment

Annie1215 That stuck with me too! 3y

Pickpick

A little prequel to Beauty and the beast ,a relatively quick read about how the prince became the beast, he really was a beastly human and best friends with Gaston. There was reference to Ursula the sea witch which has got me looking forward to reading her back story.
The writing style was a bit all over the place & a tad rushed but it‘s Disney so will always get my vote 💜
Love this cover

Such a great chapter 🥰 Harry‘s journey to hogwarts where he meets Ron , the weasley family and hermione for the first time , Fred and George are so comical .

Love this scene where we see hogwarts for the first time across the water 🤩

Anyone visited platform 9 3/4 at kingscross station?
They have a picture opportunity with the trolley half through the wall, it‘s great fun 😂

bthegood I'm currently working on a puzzle of the picture you have here - and yes I did go to 9 3/4 when I visited a few years ago - it was fun! 3y
Powered_By_Plants @bthegood ahh would love it in a puzzle , you will have to share when you‘ve done it . It‘s such a great picture , when I visited the studios I was really tempted by the painting of this 3y
bthegood @Powered_By_Plants if I do finish it I will post - and the studios! Must have been great - have a good day - (edited) 3y
Linsy I haven‘t been to England — I wish! — but I have been to Universal Orlando and I loved taking the Hogwarts Express!!! (edited) 3y

Mehso-so

An ‘OK‘ portrayal of early 20s, Love, complicated relationships, jealousy , an affair , self harm , disease , bad parenting, but personally lacked a bit more depth.
Definitely felt the frustrations of no one speaking their truth . None of the characters I warmed to but I think that was the point.
Felt it ended quite abruptly , I must admit I was expecting a bit more but glad Iv read it.

3rd square for my #bookspinbingo and my #doublespin
