Reilly, the interim head of the Athena College Library, has upset most of the staff, and to top it all wants to ban Diesel from the library and sacrifice the rare books and archive dept to budget cuts, thus putting Charlie out of a job. So nobody is that upset to hear he has been murdered. Since initially Melba is a suspect, Charlie gets involved with the investigation.

Despite some twists and turns, the murderer was fairly obvious early on.

As much as I enjoy the actual mysteries—and of course Diesel the Maine Coon—this series always has problematic passages dealing with race, sexuality, and now sexual harassment that bother me to the point I‘m not sure I can keep supporting this series. It irks me that the “hero” of the series—who is highly educated and well read—doesn‘t understand harassment isn‘t about attraction; it‘s about power.

I love finding new cozy mysteries that are absolutely fantastic and this one if definitely that!! I will be checking out the others in this series for sure! And seeing as how one of the characters of this book is a Maine Coon I thought it only appropriate to take a picture with my Maine Coon! 💖

valeriegeary Your Maine Coon does not look pleased that you are reading such a book! How rude! 😉 7y
Kshakal @valeriegeary lol... My Maine coon always has a serious case of resting bitch face! But he is my boy and I love him to death! 7y
rubyslippersreads Nicky and Sadie have forbidden me to read this. 😹 7y
DebinHawaii I don't think Max will approve this title! 🐱😆👍 7y

That feeling about halfway through vacation when you start to seriously miss your pets? I'm there. I saw the office cat in the UPS store in Bar Harbor and almost cried. 🙄Trying not to text the cat-sitter asking for updates like a crazy cat lady...

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Ask! I would! 7y
GypsyKat My husband and I came home from our last vacation in Cape Cod a day and a half early because we missed our dogs too much. The struggle is real. 💞 7y
OrangeMooseReads I always miss my kitties when I'm gone. I would totally be the crazy cat lady asking for updates and pictures 7y

tapgurl I think I made my friend crazy but I didn't care! 7y
Soubhiville Pretty kitty! My sitters know I worry, so I usually get daily updates and photos. I'm sure your sitter won't mind if you check in and send your babies kisses! 7y
LauraBrook What a beauty! I am a crazy cat lady, and would annoy the heck out of the sitter! 7y
LectricSheep @Riveted_Reader_Melissa @OrangeMooseReads @Soubhiville @LauraBrook Thanks guys! I ended up emailing the sitter-- you're right! I do feel better with an update! ❤️ (edited) 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @LectricSheep 👍That what all good moms do...worry about the kids and check in on the kids, even if they are furkids. 7y
erinreads When my husband and I were gone for two weeks in October, my mom sent us a picture a day with notes from our cat. I also got made fun of because literally every animal reminded me of him... other cats, dogs, squirrels, BIRDS. I love my cat too much, I think. 😂 7y
kylienoele Once I had to leave Daisy at my parents for 3 days and I seriously texted my mom every 5 hours. I feel no shame and you shouldn't either! Furry friends are very important!! 7y
Jinjer I remember the days before cell phones when we worried ourselves sick having no word at all about how our precious fur babies were doing while we were away. So much better now being able to text pictures of my neighbors cats to them whenever I look after them. Definitely helps the parents to see that they're being played with or that they're sleeping peacefully or eating... 7y
elkeOriginal @erinreads No such thing as 'too much'! 7y
elkeOriginal @LectricSheep With that sweet kitty face I am surprised you emailed - you really should just facetime. Cut the sitter out and call cat direct! 😺 7y
LectricSheep @elkeo if my cat had a cell phone I am 99% sure we would never see her again. She would just hide under the bed and play bird videos. 🙄 7y

#TBRtemptation post! This #cozymystery had me at "cat in the stacks" ?. It's definitely added. This is the seventh installment in the series featuring librarian Charlie & his Maine cat, Diesel. The new library director, Oscar, wants to cut costs & get rid of the archive and rare books collection. And he declares all animals banned, among other policies! Needless to say, Oscar's body is found dead. Whodunit? #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?

JanuarieTimewalker13 Oh thank God, I thought the cat died at first! Lol..I'm not sure what that says about me and I don't want to know. 7y
MicheleinPhilly @JanuarieTimewalker13 That's the way I am too. 37 people can die in a movie and I won't bat an eyelash but if an animal is harmed 😡. 7y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @MicheleinPhilly hahahahaha!!! I think it's because they're so innocent and some humans are anything but. 7y

Ace is taking lessons from #Bitsy and also taking the title of this book very seriously in seeking a place away from the Mikey-Cat. This is the latest in the cute, fun Cat In The Stacks series, and it didn't disappoint.
