Emily Starr was born with the desire to write. Asan orphan living on New Moon Farm, writing helpedher face the difficult, lonely times. But now allher friends are going away to high school innearby Shrewsbury, and her old-fashioned, tyrannicalaunt Elizabeth will only let her go if she promisesto stop writng! All the same, this is the firststep in Emily's climb to success. Once in town, Emily's activities set the Shrewsbury gossipsbuzzing. But Emily and her friends are confident --Ilse's a born actress, Teddy's set to be a greatartist, and roguish Perry has the makings of a brilliantlawyer. When Emily has her poems published andwrites for the town newspaper, success seems to be onits way -- and with it the first whispers ofromance. Then Emily is offered a fabulous opportunity, and she must decide if she wants to change herlife forever."

I just need to take a moment to give some love to my all time favorite Canadian author, Lucy Maud Montgomery. The tagged book is one of the books that helped me fall in love with reading. I‘ve always loved books, but I‘m dyslexic, and had a very difficult time reading, even into my early teens. This one cadipoltded my love of reading to the next level.💜

Sometimes what I need is a good reread. Loved seeing Emily come into her own when she goes off to Shrewsbury. Her understanding of her family, friends, and self deepens in this book and the adults become more multi-faceted. The characters all grow in satisfying ways in this book. Perfect book for a break from daily stress.

Trying to do better with self-care this week and so I got out in nature. I found this lovely trail behind my local playground. I‘ve been coming here for years and never knew it existed. I think L.M. Montgomery would approve of this reading spot. So much green and the sound of a rushing water. #litsywalkers #readingbreak

LeahBergen She would! 👏🏻 9mo

Kaye Looks like a nice shady spot to sit or hike ! ( depending on your book type). 🎧 📖 9mo
Blaire @LeahBergen I wish I had a wonderful name for this trail. The hidden green wood? 8mo
Blaire @squirrelbrain @kaye it was so nice and a much needed respite even when I only had 20 min. 8mo

This trilogy is really standing the test of time. I still like Emily just a touch more than Anne. There is still on character that I find deeply problematic but other than that a solid 4 star read.

Emily Climbs is the second in a series of novels (Emily of New Moon) by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It was first published in 1925.

Back to work after a 4 day long weekend... not easy. The trees have overnight started to turn, and tea and books are calling me...

One of the cats must have investigated Emily, I found this just now. A sign I should reread some LMM?

LeahBergen Definitely a sign! 😆 1y
Redjewel_7734 Emily is my fave LMM 😍 1y
llwheeler @Redjewel_7734 probably mine too. Or The Blue Castle. 1y

Great sequel. I love how while Emily grows up, she still retains her imaginative spirit and love for life. Can‘t wait to start the third and final book!

I finished this book in the span of a few hours, never even had a chance to use my pretty tribal bookmark in it.

Emily is my favourite Montgomery character after Anne Shirley. I hate the way the Murray's treat Emily though. :-(

I'm trying to keep my mind off of everything that happened on Christmas Day. So of course the answer to that is to drown myself in books now that I've got all the crying out. I finished the first Emily book and now I'm starting in the second.

I've logged out of FB, but I can't seem to stay away from Litsy. Too much feel-good here. This is my happy place.

WarpedSweetness @Cinfhen Thank you. I could use some good vibes. I've made up my mind that 2018 will be better, just need to figure out howm 2y
Andrew65 @WarpedSweetness Plenty of time for that. Your current plan of reading and Litsy is a good one whilst you allow yourself time. Sending best thoughts. 😊 2y

WarpedSweetness @Andrew65 Thank you. I'm trying not to think about it really, at least until I see my therapist. @oOArankaOo Virtual hug back ❤❤ @JessClark78 ❤❤ @TheAnitaAlvarez Same here! I used to own them at one time. @Cailey_Mac ❤❤❤ @Betty That's why I can't stay away from Litsy. Everyone is so supportive and kind. @Librarybelle I'm planning on rereading Anne next year also! 2y
TheAnitaAlvarez @WarpedSweetness oh, I wish I owned copies myself, but I used to take them from my school‘s library, over and over again 2y
WarpedSweetness @TheAnitaAlvarez I picked up a whole bunch of first edition L. M. Montgomery books at a flea market when I was like twelve. I loved those books. I hated going to my school's library. The librarian wasn't friendly and hated children. Can you imagine? 2y
TheAnitaAlvarez @WarpedSweetness I honestly can‘t imagine. Why be a school librarian if you hate children? The ones in my school were lovely and always ready to make recommendations, which was awesome 2y
WarpedSweetness @TheAnitaAlvarez It was the high school librarian. I used to imagine she was a witch, like in that one movie where the witches turned the kids into mice. I preferred going to my local libraries. The librarians there were all so awesome and nice. 2y
TheAnitaAlvarez @WarpedSweetness we only had one library (schools in Chile are usually one for grades K-12). My town‘s library was rather sad, to be honest, so I didn‘t go often. 2y
WarpedSweetness My public library system when I lived in Pennsylvania was awesome. Where I live now the library is kind of sad too. 2y
WarpedSweetness @TheAnitaAlvarez ^^^ Also, I knew that about Chile! I didn't know you lived there. I used to have a penpal online friend who lived there. 2y
TheAnitaAlvarez @WarpedSweetness awww, that‘s so cool! I‘ve just returned from a year living in Scotland, so until like a month ago I was still there 2y
WarpedSweetness @TheAnitaAlvarez That's so cool! It must have been so awesome living in Scotland. 2y

There are definitely a few that stand out from when I was young. Island of The Blue Dolphins, the Nancy Drew books, The Boxcar Children... but reading the Emily series, specifically the second one, gave me a feeling like nothing else before. Book love. 💗💗💗

What were yours?

BookNAround The B Book by Stan and Jan Berenstain. It was the first book I ever read on my own and I still remember the amazing feeling that gave me. 2y
TheBookStacker My 4th grade teacher read us A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. It sparked something in me. 2y
BookDame The Little Prince. I still feel nostalgic when I think about it. ☺️ 2y

tournevis I don't remember. I know I was so frustrated that my parentd could read all their books and magazines and I could not, so I tought myself to read. I guess the answer would be "all of theirs". 2y
rubyslippersreads ❤️❤️❤️ Emily! 2y

Captivatedbybooks OMG i forgot all about the BoxCar 2y
Librarybelle Loved Nancy Drew! 2y
jaimeisbionic Phantom of the Opera, oddly enough. I think I picked it up from a school book fair just because I liked the cover and was already a secret baby goth. 😄 2y
SheReadsAndWrites Ramona Quimby by Beverly Cleary 2y
Redwritinghood I remember really liking 2y
cathysaid Julie of the Wolves, Trumpet of the Swan...but my most favorite-est was Harriet the Spy (edited) 2y
MoMogrl Nancy Drew, Boxcar Children, and Babysitters Club 2y
IamIamIam Definitely Charlotte's Web but there were a lot of picture books that pushed me before that. I had a great edition of The Bremen Town Musicians that I recently found for my kids and Strega Nona were my favorites. Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel was a book I'd read every day and the Morgan books. 2y
kylienoele The Nancy Drew series!! And then Harry Potter solidified my love of reading 😍 2y
GypsyKat @BookNAround I'm not familiar with the book, but I am familiar with that amazing feeling. 💗 2y
GypsyKat @TheBookStacker Awe, love that! There's something special about being read to. 💗 2y
GypsyKat @BookDame Love that one! 💗 2y
GypsyKat @DebbieGrillo Such a classic! 😊 2y

GypsyKat @MoMogrl Oh! How could I forget Babysitters Club?! 😃 2y
GypsyKat @miamorswife I remember that one! 😊💗 2y
GypsyKat @IamIamIam Oh! I loved Charlotte's Web! 💗💗💗 2y
GypsyKat @kylienoele Awe, love it! An old classic series, and I new classic series. 😊🔍⚡️💗 2y
tournevis @GypsyKat My husband was the same. It's part of the reason he prefers to newspapers and mags: they feel less like reading to him. 2y
blueyedjokeye Matilda! 2y
IamIamIam Charlotte's Web is just as good as you remember, @GypsyKat!! I read it earlier this year and was just wonderfully brought back to childhood and had a totally new perspective as an adult! 2y
GypsyKat @tournevis I can understand that. 2y
GypsyKat @blueyedjokeye Classic! 💗 2y
GypsyKat @IamIamIam I reread it in college, but I haven't read it since. I definitely will reread it again sometime! 💗 2y
SheReadsAndWrites Ramona is so wonderful! And was all me as a kid. She had a bossy big sister and created all these scenarios in her head that would sometimes get her in trouble. All. Me. 😂😊 2y

#funphotofriday @Liberty I love Anne of Green Gables but Emily Of New Moon is my absolute favorite! Emily Climbs is literally falling apart, I've read it so many times. The pink book is a copy of LM Montgomery's journals (first volume). Also pictured: Seymour.
