I just love a pair solving a mystery! This Regency era series features an interesting combo of an earl/chemist and a widow/satirical artist. I look forward to learning more about these two in future books, as well as more of the endearing little street urchin brothers who are key side characters. 💕

Regency England comes to life in this first in a series. Strong characters, with danger lurking in the London fog and talk of alchemy, lead the storytelling. The ending has piqued my interest for book two.

An interesting regency mystery, with complex characters & good prose. Raven & Hawk in particular utterly stole the show! The last third was more of a thriller, as the answers were found rather quickly & the villain was who they thought it was. Also, I could have done without the small instance of racism towards my people close to the end — it spoiled my liking of the story considerably, for obvious reasons. Let‘s see how it goes in book 2! ★★★☆☆.

I got this book as part of my murder mystery subscription from my local indie bookstore. Loved every second of this regency mystery set in London, complete with chemistry, an earl and a feisty illustrator. Cosmo was too sleepy to argue against the picture. #catsoflitsy Thank goodness for this book to distract me from a book club book I‘m hating!

@Mollyanna Have you received this book yet? You should have received it yesterday. I always forget to post a picture when I mail. The book is perfectly wonderful!

I‘m enjoying this, but it‘s slow going. Real Life seems to be getting in the way. Mom has Alzheimer‘s and she‘s not doing well. Reading is having to take a back seat to Mom‘s needs at this time.

This was a fun, quick read. I enjoyed the team of the Earl, m‘lady, and the weasels. I‘ll definitely be picking up the next book in this series #whodunitthesequel

It took me a few chapters to get into the writing style, but I quite liked this Regency mystery. Partnering an artistic, poorer woman with a scientific aristocrat made for an interesting pairing of protaganists. The side characters were also fantastic.

I did guess whodunit before the characters did, but it took awhile. No more details, though, as I don't want to give away something for the other #whodunitthesequel readers.

I'd give it a solid 4⭐

So excited that my #whodunitthesequel package came and I got to pick it up today. Looks really good. Can't wait to read it, @robinb, and sorry I was only able to pick it up today!

This was a great historical mystery! I enjoyed the characters, both main and secondary, and didn't figure out the murderer in advance.

It seems highly appropriate to use my British Museum bookmark while reading this British mystery. #anglophile

Loved it, the middle kinda slowed but the ending was great.

So I‘m more then 80 percent done and so far part of the mystery have been solved. Will there be a twist at the end.. humm

I won‘t say a lot here because I don‘t want to influence my #whodunitthesequel fellow members, but I enjoyed this and am glad I picked this one as my contribution to the group....and I hope they will feel the same way! This one is the start of a series, so I‘ll look forward to reading the next one in March!

This is the book@that is causing my slump I have been reading it since the beginning of October it‘s not that it bad it‘s just really really slow nothing major has happened in terms of clues of finding out the mystery and I‘m about 70% done also I think that all the knitting have been doing for the holidays is also contributing

A fairly decent start to a new historical mystery series. The characters were engaging, and the basic plot line was intriguing enough, but I found the execution to fall a bit flat. Love the cover, though. 😊

My current book club read - a Regency England murder mystery. Enjoying it so far.

Okay, I admit, it doesn't take much to get me excited, but this is the first time I've had an author comment on one of my reviews on Goodreads. Squeee!!😂😂

This was very good! I was excited to get an advanced copy, and now I'm wondering how I can get advanced copies of the rest of the series when they come out, because I'm definitely going to have to read them! This was a fun read, with elements of Sherlock and a strong female character. I thoroughly enjoyed this one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's a little chilly today and I'm still not feeling %100. So I've got an electric blanket, a hot cup of tea, a warm (and overly furry) lap dog, and a good book. That's better. 😊

I wouldn't have picked this up myself but I was really happy with it! I'm not a big fan of the nobility in Regency England but this story played off of it nicely, addressing it as a societal structure and how its influence can control motives. The early science world view was really interesting! It felt a bit like Caleb Carr meets Arthur Conan Doyle. 🤓 #MurderOnBlackSwanLane #AndreaPenrose

For the first time in three days, I don't feel like I have a fever. So I'm propping myself up in bed, and I'm actually going to read. I still have a sore throat and what not, but this is such an improvement! 💗

Fascinating characters, and a look at life outside the haute ton. The science involved in the mystery, and the ties between alchemy and early science were well handled. I hope this is the start of a series, because I'll be first in line for every one. Only swan pic I have😊
