This is the first book in the series and I really enjoyed it! My bestie read it and recommended it to me so I‘m excited to see what happens in the next 5 books! 📖😁

I‘m usually not a big fan of books written in first person, but this one was a happy exception! A wife who doesn‘t know her husband is a serial killer; she‘s accused of being his “helper”; she‘s acquitted and on the run—with their two kids; she has to pull up stakes often to get away from internet “warriors”; more murders with her husband‘s MO; she gets accused. Scary stuff, but a glimpse at guilt by association. I will look for more by Caine!
Not exactly a powerhouse but it was still a good book. Having been the victim of a stalker ex-husband 25 years ago, I still have a bit of PTSD. I realize this is fiction but I can‘t imagine finding out your husband is a serial killer. I admire Gwen‘s strength and tenacity in doing everything she can to keep herself and her kids safe. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
“Gina Royal is the definition of average―a shy Midwestern housewife with a happy marriage and two adorable children. But when a car accident reveals her husband‘s secret life as a serial killer, she must remake herself as Gwen Proctor…With her ex now in prison, Gwen has finally found refuge in a new home on remote Stillhouse Lake….still the target of stalkers and Internet trolls who think she had something to do with her husband‘s crimes.”
Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine is another favorite thriller of mine. Need to continue the series!
I was intrigued by the premise of this book. It was definitely a page turner, but the ending was a little far fetched for me. I really liked the main character and her story arc. I don‘t think I‘ll continue with this series though. 3⭐️
Gina picks her kids up one day and comes home to a drunk driver having crashed into her house, exposing the garage as a torture chamber and her husband as a serial killer. A few years later she's been acquitted of any involvement but many people believe she's guilty. Now called Gwen she's been on the run with her kids, trying to protect them from the families of the victims, the internet "sicko patrol" & from her ex. All are about to catch up ⬇️

#LittensDressedInBlood #Day4 #EveryBreathYouTake This first in the series by the late Rachel Caine definitely fits the prompt. Gina Royal is a normal mum of two until her husband is revealed as a twisted serial killer & is put behind bars for life. Now known as Gwen Proctor, she‘s stalked not only by her ex‘s fanatic followers, but also by the families of his victims who are convinced she knew more than she claimed about his murders. Great series👍
I thought this was a horror story but it‘s really more of a psychological thriller. Still sucks you in and won‘t let go!!
🎧 I really enjoyed this suspenseful thriller!!
Woman & 2 kids return home to police everywhere. Apparently her husband is a serial killer & police think she‘s an accomplice. He goes to jail & she is acquitted.
Even though she‘s innocent everyone blames her. Her & the kids change their names & move from place to place. They are hounded by people who want to harm them. Relentless!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/5 👇🏻
All I can say is ... I definitely shouldn‘t have fallen asleep while listening to this!! 🤷♀️🤦♀️
I‘m a scardy cat and I can‘t tell you how many times I looked over my shoulders reading this 😂😂
But I am glad I did because I want to read the rest of this series. #bookspinbingo
While parts were totally implausible (such as Mel‘s workshop), I enjoyed this suspenseful thriller. TW: some fairly gruesome murder scenes. This is the story of a wife/mother who goes on the run when she discovers she‘s been married to a serial killer for 9 years. I especially liked the transformation of Gina (a shy bit of a doormat) into Gwen (a tough take-charge fighter). Well written, look forward to reading more in series. 4/5⭐️

I absolutely loved this book. Five stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I cannot wait to purchase and read the next installment. It saddens me that the author has passed away. She is truly fabulous. 📚❤️
I really LOVED Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier. I give it five stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Next up is Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine. I hope I love it. 😁💜💕
This was a decent thriller/murder mystery that was entertaining enough to keep me reading to the end. I probably won‘t read the rest of the series. There‘s something about this book that leaves me feeling meh.
Started my #newyearwhodis read & flew through half of it in one sitting. @MoonWitch94 @monalyisha

Gina Royal is a housewife with a happy marriage and two children but she is forced to become Gwen Proctor as her husband has a secret life as a serial killer. She finds refuge in a home on Stillhouse Lake but is stalked by those who think she had something to do with her husband's crimes. Now bodies are turning up in the lake and Gwen feels a need to run again. Who can she trust?

My Goals
1. Finished 6 of 25 books for January. Started Stillhouse Lake and The Evening and The Morning Audio.
2. Riding exercise bike for 1/2 hour a day.
3. Moving my library because room being painted.
Thank you @TrishB !!! I‘m really looking forward to this one. Thanks so much!
Need to escape into two heart-pounding thrillers? I recommend these. Both combine a unique story, driven by great characters, murder, and the realities of a world connected 24/7 to the Internet. In book one, the voice is all Gwen Proctor who‘s been through hell and is just trying to keep herself and her kids safe. The audio was great and i immediately started book 2.

New listen and I‘m already jonesing for more time to spend with it. Really drew me right in! And now I‘m reading other posts about the author fighting cancer. I‘ll grab up the rest of the series just to support her. #fcancer
For those of you who are fans of the Stillhouse Lake series by Rachel Caine, you can pre-order book 5 in the series Heartbreak Bay for $3.99 on Amazon today!
This isn‘t my usual genre, but I ordered this series and the Revivalist trilogy today when I saw that Rachel Caine is entering hospice care. I haven‘t read any of her books yet. If any of y‘all are so inclined, there‘s a push for positive messages on her social media pages and purchasing her books to boost her at this tough time. Fucking cancer.
Worked on this in Procreate while listening to the audiobook. It was better than I expected and did catch me by surprise. I‘ll check out the next book in the series because I liked this one. I‘ve been so picky lately too so I‘m surprised I liked it.
This was a great start to this series , enjoyed the character build up and the way the story unfolded. Will definitely keep reading this series 📚
A nice little page turner of a murder mystery with the right amount of gore and twists. My initial suspicions of the murderer turned out to be true but the way the story played out did not, and that was refreshing. A solid read that kept me on my toes. I‘ll certainly be reading the additional books in this series.
Started listening to this one for #SeparatedByAPondTour as covers Tennessee. Has got me gripped from the very first page.
#MidYearRush
I liked this one in spite of it being a little more gruesome than I normally read. It was a little slow for something in the thriller genre, but it kept me interested enough to want to keep reading the series. Three and a half stars.
Yesterday I finished my third time through the Harry Potter series in three months, so I‘ve decided to switch gears to a thriller.
Read this for a book club. I loved it!!! I will read the rest of the series. So good!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stillhouse Lake was entertaining enough for me to see it through and had some redeeming qualities, but it wasn‘t compelling enough for me to feel that I‘ll continue with the series, despite the cliffhanger at the end of the book.

This book was very hard to put down. I couldn‘t read it fast enough, in anticipation of finding out “who done it”. I preferred the first 3/4 of the book to the end. I‘m not much for the action packed, car chase, gun slinging scenes. But even with that, I recommend this book. Especially if “action” is your thing.
Book 4 for #bookspinbonanza is officially completed! I really enjoyed this book (and audiobook - I went back and forth between reading and listening). The idea is just so interesting. A woman has no idea idea that her husband is a serial killer until a car crashes into their house exposing him. Now she deals with people thinking she (and her children) was involved with his crimes, stalkers, and trying to leave their past lives. Excited for book 2.
3.5/5⭐️This was a reread for me & caused me to change my original rating. I downgraded from 5 to 3.5 stars. I was enamored with the concept, the story and the location—which kept me blind to the flaws. Gwen is a badass but she‘s unreliable as a MC. Her self-loathing is suffocating; her paranoia smothering. Descriptions of locations were confusing and hard to picture on occasion. And really? You never looked in your garage? 🤨 Yeah, right! ⬇️
Thanks @OriginalCyn620 for the tag 💜 #Two4Tuesday 1️⃣Chilling 2️⃣ No because I am trying not to buy books right now until I have made a dent in my bookshelf. 🏷 @NeedsMoreBooks @Mitch @Meaw_catlady @sudi @Linsy
So just finished this book and am about halfway through the second installment. Thoroughly enjoyed this one and haven‘t seen it talked about much on booktube so wanted to give it a shoutout. This story had me rooted to the edge of my seat. It‘s been a while since I read a book that gave me goosebumps but this one sure did! Check out my full review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3254995695. It‘s free on Kindle Unlimited too!
🌷Exhausted physically (yard work to get ready for planting soon), Having a good day emotionally, and pretty grounded spiritually. 🌷I reread series that I loved (see tagged book) 🌷I have to go help my brother move out of his apartment at college today bc of COVID-19 concerns 😢😷 It‘s his Senior Year & this screws up so much for him. But, he hopefully won‘t catch it & that‘s good news. 🦋Everyone can play, but tagging ⬇️ to get it going!🦋
So...this could have been 4 stars but I struggled with Gwen. I didn‘t particularly like her and at times she bugged the crap outta me. It was a good story, though. I‘d recommend other things over this but there are also way less entertaining books out there.
A tense thriller that absorbed me and kept me twitching and nervous for Gina Royal and her children. The tension and paranoia crafted in-story meant although I had a suspicion of a couple of the twists, I kept second-guessing myself.
5/5
Cute little #stack living in my desk at work this week. 📚 Fair Play is next up on audio but there are charts and list that make following along with the physical book handy. Plus, I've already gotten some recommendations from How to Raise a Reader. Stillhouse Lake keeps popping up here and there...it's calling to me! I always answer when books call!
Book 2 of #newyearwhodis - Gina Royal‘s life is turned upside down when it‘s uncovered that her husband is a serial killer. The public assumes she is guilty too. She and her two children go into hiding from the stalkers and internet trolls. On identity number 8 and starting over in a small lake town, Gina, now Gwen, thinks maybe she can loosen up a bit, then a body is found floating in the lake.
This was great. I was totally sucked into it ⬇️
