⭐⭐⭐💫

This third book of the series was a little bit more chaotic than the first two, maybe all seven demigods and multiple storylines were a LOT to handle at the same time.. But that ending?!? It was brutal 🥺😭💔

This was my #bookspin for October @thearomaofbooks

Rereading these books have been an amazing experience. The third book in the series is no exception. This book made me feel so much closer to Piper, Leo, Frank and Hazel. Rick Riordan is an amazing writer and makes it so easy to fall in love with these characters!

I must say there were a lot of main characters. I confused Hazel and Piper quite often, because I don't know them so well. However, all the divisions they made for beating new obstacles was a nice touch. In almost every chapter they formed a new trio, which gave new dynamics. I liked the chapters from Percy's POV the best, because he remains the original hero. We met awesome monsters and the cliffhanger was thrilling! On to the next book!

5✨ This series is so much fun! I‘m glad I still have two books to enjoy. We follow four main characters: Percy, Leo, Piper, and Annabeth. Annabeth is really the main storyline though. These characters along with others have one main quest, but they have to split up and each split has its own adventures. The main task through the series will obviously conclude on the last book, but the mini adventures along the way keep you on the edge of your seat

I feel like this third book in the Heroes of Olympus series is really where things start to take off. I really loved seeing this group of demigods take on such a big quest. The fact that they had to figure out how to work together in pretty dire circumstances really heightened the tension. I also think this book really allowed us to get to know Annabeth more than we have in the past.

It was fun dipping back into this world & esp. seeing all these characters working together. Bouncing btwn their perspectives was excellent, and the stops on the quest were fun & led perfectly one to the next. A few parts did drag a bit, and there was a great deal of repetition of their missions & the various prophecies that they were following that felt unnecessary. Still willing to see where their quest goes from here.
And Leo is still awesome.

Nitpickyabouttrains You started back on Rick! Yay! 2y

Things I loved about this book (the best Riordan I have read so far):

1. The gang is all together! We get so many PoVs.
2. Annabeth's solo quest
3. More of Leo's backstory
4. I got to google Archimedes. #rabbithole
5. I also got to google Athena Parthenos. #rabbithole Did you know that there is a to-scale replica of the Parthenon complete with Athena Parthenos in...Nashville, TN? So that's weird.

(quarantine book 103; read a book set near water)

I am loving this second series. This one has a lot of POV characters out on the quest and it was sometimes a little hard to keep track of. But I loved all the myths and legends.

I started this today, hoping it‘ll stick. The last few days I‘ve had no time to myself at all, and any attempts at reading have fizzed out.

I appreciate all the positivity here, but since this is my safe place I feel like I can say I‘m really struggling. The uncertainty of it all, the frustration for my daughter missing out on activities, craziness at my husband‘s work (military), and all the strain on me as the one holding it all (cont)

ravenlee together at home is getting to me. And I feel it‘s going to get worse before it gets better. I worry for my parents who are both immune-compromised and there‘s nothing I can do from states away. I‘m working on keeping it all together, but I think it‘s important to acknowledge that I‘m not okay right now, and I‘m sure I‘m not the only one. 3y

Librariana It is absolutely ok to not be ok, but remember that you shouldn't bear the brunt of this on your own. Lean on your spouse as much as you can and talk to/vent with one another. My husband is retired military (now a contractor) and I know our base is currently keeping AD at home in hopes of keeping them healthy. I'm tremendously sorry to hear about your parents and hope they can stay in as much as possible. We *SEE* you and feel with you 💜 3y

Hooked_on_books You‘re not the only one at all. My customer base evaporated yesterday for my business so I‘m facing no income for the foreseeable future and having to lay off employees soon, impacting their livelihood. All for one single case on our entire island. Nothing is ok right now. 3y
Tamra You are definitely not alone! Lots of uncertainty and moments that vacillate between feeling confident and overwhelmed. 3y
ravenlee Thank you @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @ImperfectCJ @DaveGreen7777 @RainyDayReading @Meaw_catlady @rachelm @tamra it is helping to know you‘re all out there and we‘re all going through this together. 3y
ravenlee @Hooked_on_books that‘s terrible, I‘m so sorry. I had a gig canceled at the halfway point, and while we were promised payment it hasn‘t arrived yet and I don‘t know how much it will be. Luckily I don‘t rely on my income (hubby is primary earner) I worry about the rest of the musicians I work with who do. I worry about most everybody right now. 3y
Tamra @ravenlee my husband (who is a jazz bassist in addition to college instructor) has several friends who are in hard places. Students aren‘t continuing their private music lessons either. 😐 These are also people who often don‘t have health insurance. Things have to change. (edited) 3y
Tamra I got a bit overwhelmed last night getting the kids‘ school online plan. 🥴 3y
ravenlee @Librariana thank you. Unfortunately I don‘t have much lean space. He‘s focused on other things and thinks as long as the kiddo and I stay home we‘ll be fine. But she‘s chafing at the restrictions and wants more from me than I can give and I have had exactly one short block to myself in the past week. It‘s not sustainable but there‘s little hope of change anytime soon. Parents are ok for now but who knows? 3y
ravenlee @Tamra I hear you! I find great irony in the idea that homeschoolers (who everybody seems to worry about) are the ones most likely to finish out the school year and get all the required school hours. We have all the materials we need for the rest of our school year, except supplemental library resources for everything after the next two weeks. I‘ve become my sister‘s educational advisor as she works with her kids at home. 😆 3y
Librariana @ravenlee - I think I did that thing where I thought I was being helpful... wanted to be comforting... but probably ended up sounding patronizing. I'm sorry 🙁 I promise I wasn't trying to downplay or be dismissive of your situation, or feelings, for that matter. It's tough out there and I'm just saddened it's hitting all of us in different ways 💖 3y
ravenlee @Librariana no! I didn‘t take it as patronizing, and it was good advice. Except that hubby is a major source of my stress! Partly because there was deployment buzz a week prior to all this, and now nobody knows what will happen with that. And partly because he wants to put me in a safe little box and that‘s just not possible. I‘m just super frustrated w/ everything and want to scream/cry/throw things but it would scare my people so I can‘t. 3y
Librariana @ravenlee - Just picture me with a catcher's mitt and picture yourself throwing things my way, girl! I'll catch 'em! 😉 (I understand not being able to scream/cry in front of our people...) And I hear ya! Bless them because I think that's the case with most partners... they just want to fix things for us... keep us safe as best they can... but you're right... not possible. I send positive energy your way 🍀🌟🧡🎶🌈💖🌻☕📚 3y
Fridameetslucy You are going to have people that catch you and people that need you to catch them. It‘s important to not let either of them go. Check in everyday 3y

I really found this book interesting because its an adventure romance, my favorite genre. It's very sweet because Percy risks his life and lets go of the cliff knowing that he could very much die, but he does it for Annabeth.

Lovely_one_and_only Actually it was romantic at the same time bravery because it was that there were there for each other all the time when needed action of protection of each other I mean. I don‘t know if that makes sense (edited) 3y

How did you choose this book: Completing a series
Annabeth Chase is terrified. Just when she is reunited with Percy, it seems like Camp Jupiter is ready for war. And that's only one of her worries. In her pocket she carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving command: Follow the Mark of Athena, Avenge me.
