Untitled A Court of Thorns and Roses
Untitled A Court of Thorns and Roses | Sarah J. Maas
A companion tale to Sarah J. Maas's #1 New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series that takes place several months after the explosive events of A Court of Wings and Ruin Narrated by Feyre and Rhysand, this story bridges the events in A Court of Wings and Ruin and the upcoming novels in the series. Feyre, Rhys and their companions are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can't keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated scars that will have a far-reaching impact on the future of their court.

Another good installment in the series! This one lacked the tension and action of the previous books, however, through multiple POVs, we get to know the beloved characters better. But IMO, any time spent with Rhysand is time well spent. 🤣

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Book 4 Ch. 28 and Review : Although not as action packed as previous instalments, I really liked this book because it gave insight into our characters and will provide a good bridge to the next book. I‘m looking forward to some more Cassian. Nesta…not so much. Who knows - maybe she‘ll change my mind. I‘ll post a reading schedule for Book 5 soon for those who want to join me.

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Book 4 Ch.22-24: Kay, SJM - where‘s my fan? You make me want to air bnb a cabin in the woods. Tamlin has really completely fallen. In a way, does the dead elk symbolize him? Doesn‘t his beast form have elk antlers? Maybe I‘m wrong. What do we think was in the woods watching Mor? Hmm, could it be Bryaxis or something entirely new?

BarkingMadRead That was super creepy and i immediately thought of Bryaxis 2d

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Book 4 Ch.19-21: Nesta Nesta Nesta. You gotta snap out of it! See what‘s offered in front of you. Cassian (in all his glory) but also family and friends and life. What do we think Feyre wished for her birthday? I have my theory - can‘t wait to see if I‘m right.🧑‍🍼

BarkingMadRead Nesta gives me so much stress, girl needs to snap out of it! 3d
OriginalCyn620 Nesta needs to get over herself! I get that she didn‘t ask for any of this, but it‘s done. She‘s had time to process and try to move on. Her current behavior certainly won‘t reverse the circumstances! 2d
OriginalCyn620 I also have a hunch about what Feyre wished for! 2d
vonnie862 In a small way, I feel for Nesta. She obviously has some PTSD after watching her dad die. However, I can't stand her. She has been moody since page one. 2d

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Book 4 Ch.16-18: Feyre wants everyone to be happy and is not able to help meddling a bit. She‘s always been like this so we can‘t blame her. But I‘m sad for Lucien. Band of Exiles indeed - sounds like a children‘s club or something. Tamlin is an ass for pushing his only friend away. Speaking of friends - how great is it that the boys have an annual snowball fight? Love those characters.

LiseWorks I'm sad for Lucian too! Snow ball fight! YES! 4d
OriginalCyn620 I feel bad for Lucien all around-Tamlin pushed him away and Elain won‘t give him the time of day. Not that she has to, but she doesn‘t even try to be polite. And the snowball fight was too adorable!! 4d

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Book 4:Ch.13-15: first off, this made me laugh: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1EdHtawpBV/?mibextid=wwXIfr - Nesta is driving me a bit crazy. Poor Feyre - she‘s trying. Nesta is being so miserable and acting like a cow. Where‘s a therapist when you need one. I‘m trying to be sympathetic but she‘s making it hard. Also, I love how much Feyre wants to help those in her city.

maich @vonnie862 Same. If you want rent go and do/work something. Even at home, Feyre was able to make sure they got food. Then Nesta went with her to the market to get something (Book 1). She doesn't have any manners? Feyre is so good-hearted. She helps everyone around her, she wants to give gifts to everyone and make it right for everyone, make everyone feel good. 4d

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Book 4:Ch.10-12: Rhys goes to see Tamlin and it does not go well-no surprise there. Kind of sad to see how far he‘s fallen though. I don‘t begrudge Rhys for saying what he did-even if he feels guilty afterwards, some things had to be said. Maybe Nesta should join Tam and they can be miserable together. B/c Nesta is going through it and not accepting help from her family. I think an intervention may be in order.

BarkingMadRead Nesta‘a behavior is worrisome! She is most definitely not ok. Az and Elain are still adorable 5d
mcctrish Elain was a mess because of her sight and being broken hearted and just because she‘s a mate doesn‘t mean she has feelings, but is Nesta just miserable times infinity because she was a bitter cow to begin with? 5d
See All 10 Comments
OriginalCyn620 @mcctrish I think you‘re right about Nesta. She was a miserable cow from the beginning, and now maybe she‘s using being made Fae as an excuse to be even more miserable. And even if that hadn‘t happened, I‘m guessing she‘d still be a miserable cow. Some beings are just that way no matter what! 5d
mcctrish @OriginalCyn620 I hope it‘s something better than that but so far I‘ve got nothing ( other than the cauldron also being pissed off at her too ) (edited) 5d
LiseWorks I don't know what wrong with Nesta. It's like she doesn't care. Getting drunk is not the way to deal with stuff. She's really passed off! 5d
mcctrish @LiseWorks I get that she‘s self medicating and that maybe it hasn‘t been as much time as I think but have there been any clues I‘ve missed? 5d
OriginalCyn620 @StayCurious You may be a better person than me…I didn‘t feel bad for Tamlin! 😂 Rhys‘ speech to him was well deserved. 5d
vonnie862 Ahahaha! Nesta will fit well with Tamlin! 5d
maich @OriginalCyn620 I agree with you. I also didn't feel bad for Tamlin. Feyra didn't want to see him. Nesta is a bit special. She has her own moods. She was angry at first, she didn't want to deal with them. Then she helped them. And now she doesn't want to deal with them again. She's going round in circles. But their Inner circle is fun. I laughed at that dinner too. 5d

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Book 4: Ch.7-9: first off - it must be so hard to be a leader when there are dissenters and grumbling amongst some of your people. How hard it will be for Rhys and Feyre to keep peace. Second, Cassian is such a great person - even though they hate him he wants to help the Illyrians who are at risk. I wonder if we‘ll learn more about Emerie. ⬇️

StayCurious Finally, I get that Feyre is cautious when it comes to her art, but do we think she should have tried to honour Ressina‘s invitation? Also, is Azriel going to visit his mother? What is Rosehall? Interesting tidbits are being dropped by SJM. 7d
vonnie862 I wonder how her art lesson is going to go. 7d
maich Cassian is really nice. He is trying to help the Illyrians. What or who is Rosehall? Much remains unsaid in this book.🤔 6d

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Book 4: Ch.4-6: I liked these chapters because we‘re getting to know our characters even more. I especially liked reading Feyre and Rhysand‘s scene because I just ❤️ them so much. I love how they take care of and respect each other. Morrigan‘s scene was sad. Her memories of the worst moments of her life brought to life was difficult to read. I still think Eris is a prick not worth trusting.

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Book 4: Ch.1-3: We have three POVs this time - Feyre, Rhysand and Cassian- which I thought was neat. It‘s clear that things are not all HEA after the fight with Hybern. I appreciate that SJM acknowledges that people suffer from emotional trauma and PTSD and it doesn‘t just go away. All of our characters are dealing with things or keeping themselves busy in order to avoid. ⬇️

StayCurious Will they be able to celebrate the Solstice as a family? Or will things get in the way? 1w

StayCurious @BarkingMadRead haha that might be asking a lot! I loved how Rhys was like “Nesta is Nesta.” Someone doesn‘t like his sister in law! 1w
OriginalCyn620 I‘m loving the multiple POVs this time around! But in fairness, I do love books written in that style. After everything they all went through in the war, I expected there to be some trauma to be dealt with, of course. I hope they can come together and celebrate the Solstice! But if not, will that be the set up for the next book? 1w
LiseWorks I also like to see different points of view. 1w
vonnie862 I really liked reading Cassian's point of view. This is perfect setup for book 4. 1w

#LittensLoveACOTAR #ACOTAR #ACOFAS Hey guys! On to the next in the series. Some say this is book 3.5, some say 4, some say it‘s a novella - I prefer to think of it like a BBC Christmas special. Either way, it‘ll be fun to dive back into the world of the Inner Circle. It shouldn‘t take us too long and we‘ll read 3 chapters a day (or feel free to read at your own pace). While it‘s odd to call something with 200+ pages a novella, it maybe does fit here as this installment is more vibes and segue than actual plot?

But I still enjoyed the relative calm of a post-war winter solstice with this crew.

Current read is this short novel considered book 3.5 in the series. Honestly so far it isn‘t my favorite, but it is a nice break from the intense roller coaster of the first three books. Is it bad to say Feyre is starting to bug me sometimes?? Also, consider this an unsponsored ad for my new obsession - the Hatch alarm. Eh. It‘s fine. It‘s cute and light, but the shifting perspectives do nothing for me, since every voice feels exactly the same. It also doesn‘t quite manage feeling cozy or wintry enough to work for me as a “holiday episode,” but if you‘re into ACOTAR I‘d still encourage giving it a read.

A fantasy novella filled with lusty and boozy scenes. No major plot, just main characters getting ready for the big Solstice party, worrying about presents and peace. Glimpses of how Velarís is not the same since the war, finding ways to give back to their people, and staying aware of rumblings of potential enemies. Feyre and Rhys make a big decision at the end of the book that could be life changing. Simple, sweet and not challenging to read.

Short and sweet, a lovely family solstice celebration. Of course, with any family gathering, there is also family drama. Still, it‘s a nice little slice of happiness amidst the craziness that is going on around them. This may have to be added to the audiobooks I like to listen to around my own Winter Solstice celebrations. This felt like a much more satisfying “The End” compared to the one at the end of ACOMAF.
