Loved this so much!!!
1) Jennifer Lewis's The Mother of Black Hollywood is hands down my favorite autobiography. Ms. Lewis narrates the audiobook and takes you through a eveey emotions, tears and laughter.
2) 🤔
3) Isabel Wilkerson - The Warmth of Other Suns was a tome and I loved it. I cried at the end. Ms. Wilkerson is now an autobuy author. I have Caste but I'm saving it until I tackle some of the other nonfiction on my shelf.

I‘ve learned in life that what you give to others is what provides the most value to your life. There I was, a mess myself, yet I still had something to offer that would have an effect on another person‘s world.
Jenifer Lewis, The Mother of Black Hollywood: A Memoir
Loved this book! Audio book for this is best!! You will love it.
The weather is better allowing me to get outside and this book is playing while I am trying to walk/run. She is amazing. I only on chapter 6 and The level of self reflection and honesty so far is startling but also refreshing. I have enjoyed her as an actress but this book makes me appreciate her more. This an autobiography you want to add to your reading list, it‘s even better if you get the audiobook
Loving this book for my work outs! It‘s so honest and raw. I have laughed and cried so far. It‘s a little strange to be running/walking with tears from laughing or sadness. It‘s so relatable so far. Ms.Lewis does not sugar coat her highs and lows. I am glad I have this as an audiobook. It more like your Auntie telling you about the her life than book. #woc #bio #audiobook #blackish #sexybitch
I may be in a slump that prevents me from physically reading a book, but listening to Jennifer Lewis on audio? I could do this all day! #slumpbuster
Listened to the audiobook read by her, she did an amazing job.
Overall interesting and I‘ve always loved her but it seemed to get pretty slow at times.
A good amount of stories were a little longer than needed maybe.
If anyone‘s a fan then it‘s a definite listen, it‘s just not as good as other memoirs I‘ve heard the last year.
Listening to Jenifer Lewis tell her story while on lunch at work.

Y‘all!!! Auntie Jenifer liked my review!!! 😳🤩😍🙌🏾🙇🏾♀️ 🥰 #blitsy #blacklitsy #readblackwomen #readblackauthors
I loved this book! Ms.Lewis is so fascinating. Her story made me sometimes laugh and cry at the same time.
Warning: If you get easily turned off by profanity this is not for you!
Best recommendation I received was to listen to this Memoir.
Thoughts so far:
Jenifer Lewis narration is everything.
I‘ve had plenty of LOL moments.
Also plenty of WTF moments.
I‘m entertained.
⭐️⭐️⭐️If I had to describe this book in three words it would be men, anger, and broadway. These were the three reoccurring themes throughout the entire book. Although I appreciated reading about Jenifer's wild life, I soon became tired of the same topics. This was a very interesting read for me because although some of the chapters were redundant, I still found them entertaining.
I loved this book! I especially enjoyed listening to Jenifer narrate the audiobook! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Between traveling on vacation and traveling for work this is the first book I‘ve finished in two weeks! The actual fuck! It‘s okay because a lot of great things have been happening! This book was worth the read. I love Jenifer Lewis and I was happy to read this memoir. But the writing isnt that great in my opinion. Things feel disconnected at times and that affected the flow. I would still recommend if you are a fan of hers!
Summer mood! 😍
Visiting family and the weather is beautiful! I just straightened my hair or I would be in the water but instead I‘m reading on the deck and it‘s amazing!
The glare looks horrible on my nook but it isnt at all!
There has been so much going on that I genuinely have not had the time to read! I‘m trying to make time now and hopefully as I adjust to a new schedule/job I‘ll be able to get back into a good reading rhythm! Started this book a few days ago and I‘m hoping this helps get me where I need to be.
Raw, uncut and real. #dropsmic
I listened to the audiobook - a must if you are interested in her memoir- and i really enjoyed it. So much so that I will buy the physical copy as well. Take my money Jenifer MF‘n Lewis, take it ! 😂
I‘m savoring the last 3 chapters. Jenifer is reading the book and it‘s been a pleasure from beginning to end. Very animated, emotional, and gives an in-depth look into her past and how it has sculpted her into the person we know her as today. ⚠️ WARNING⚠️ this book will cause you to LOL 😉
Finally !!! I‘ve had this audiobook on hold for almost 2 months ! Lol.
I‘m listening to this on CD and I recommend CD if you‘re interested in reading it, because you‘ll get Jennifer Lewis‘s wonderful voice, all of the accents and emphasis that only she can provide to her story. This is a definite five star read and trust me: you will laugh, you will cry, you will be like girl WTF and on down the line. Many know Ms Lewis from blackish, but before movies and television, she was a Broadway gypsy. What a life!❤️👍🏾
🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷/5 Cheers⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Through triumphs & tragedy Lewis keeps it real in this hilarious, laugh out loud, honest & down to earth memoir. She lays it all on the line sharing her life experiences & her battle with mental illness. I'm glad I chose to listen to the audiobook. The true essence of her spirit, joys & pains are revealed magically. Her voice & animation draws you in immediately. A wonderful & fulfilling listening experience!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (I‘m really considering a 5 rating) I‘m still processing and decided not to start a new audiobook today in order to cleanse my pallet. Where do I start with this lady? She is truly larger than life. She mentions in her book that her personality is so big that people either love her or hate her and she‘s so right. I‘m in the love her camp. Check out this video to see a glimpse of her personality: https://youtu.be/MtveAS9Y7Yg
#audiocooking to Jenifer Lewis. Loving this book!
This woman‘s memoir and narration are giving me life!!! Her stories are crazy...she‘s lived a very full life several times over. I don‘t fangirl much but she may change that. She‘s my new bestie (in my head). #imaginarybestie #bbff #BookishBestFriendForever
Just starting this #audiobook and I‘m loving it so far. I have to say, Auntie Jenifer is great at cussing! I appreciate folks that can summon up and deliver a perfectly executed curse word. 🤬 If you are averse to cursing this book may not be for you.
Do you cuss? What‘s your favorite curse/cuss/swear word? #pottymouth

Wonderful memoir and journey through Jenifer Lewis‘ bought with mental illness, sexual addiction and rise to fame. I loved it! Well written!
Awesome biography and memoir Kindle sale happening on Amazon for a few more hours! (I wanted to get here earlier but it's been a crazy day.) These were not the extent of my purchases, but they are the ones I'm most excited about and have been dying to read.
I can‘t imagine this as anything other than an audiobook. Jenifer Lewis is a force. I‘ve enjoyed her over the years, but I never knew anything about her. This is a MEATY memoir. Much is about her impoverished childhood, struggle with mental illness, and the devastation of the AIDS crisis. But it‘s still a celebrity memoir: name dropping and gossiping, etc. and her observations and SINGING are so funny. She‘s Jenifer Motherfucking Lewis, y‘all. 4/5
This was a very enjoyable audiobook that was really funny while also discussing serious issues such as mental illness, addiction, and abuse. Lewis's performance of the text is a delight . I would not have minded had it been a smidge shorter, but as Lewis discusses occasionally, sometimes you just have to deal with too much of a good thing!
PS - the audiobook is on #hoopla !!!
I picked the book based on an interview with Sam Sanders on his podcast, It‘s Been a Minute. The interview was fantastic with Jenifer Lewis talking a lot about being bipolar. I was hoping the book would be similar, the book did talk about it but not until about 2/3 through, which made the last 1/3 really interesting but the rest not so much.
#24in48 status! Thanks to @ValkyrieAndHerBooks for the reminder to include audiobooks in the #readathon & @ReadingsByTheC for this recommendation in particular! I was so happy to see it is on #hoopla
So good! Funny, and vulgar and sad. Jennifer holds nothing back, curses like a sailor, and ends up being my hero.

One of my Best of 2017 Reads...
Wow! I enjoyed this audio edition read by Jenifer. She was very open about her life and despite her saying this book wasn‘t a Hollywood tell-all, I think I could have done with less name dropping of who she slept with in Hollywood over the years. I do believe there is value in her talking about her experience with her own mental illness and hope it will help people that might need a courage boost. I can‘t help but love her more!
Starkly honest and powerful. She talks about her life, her career, opens up about her BPD and sex addiction, her family and so much more. It's entertaining and hilarious and touching all at the same time. The audiobook narration is a great experience. She's a star. #audiobook
Can't wait to get to this one. Maybe will read in January or February? 🤔 #readsoullit #readingblackout
Y'all this book is fantastic. She's such a legend.
Guys, just go listen to this audiobook. Ms. Lewis discusses everything from touring with Bette Midler to her bipolar disorder to sneaking into the DNC to see Obama accept the nomination. She also discusses her sexual assaults & her sex addiction. Like I said before, it's not for the faint of heart. The language is raw, however it's told with much humor and a lot of grace. If you're on the fence, go to IG & watch her homemade book commercials.
"I took three short breaths, and decided NOT to slap the $&%* out of him."
And this is just the first chapter! SO glad I got the audiobook for this one ESPECIALLY! #buckleup #hilarious
