Next up for my trilogy book project is The Bone Witch series. I‘ve read Bone Witch a while ago and will be re-reading it again during my luxurious weekend off. Heart Forger and Shadow Glass to follow soon-ish.
(2018) Second in Chupeco's "Bone Witch" trilogy, a high-fantasy YA series featuring a necromancer and her friends. I wasn't a fan of the first -- too angsty, too clunky, too meandery -- but I got the whole series in an omnibus deal, so I tried the second anyway. And yay, I liked it better. It's still angsty and clunky in parts, but the plot has much better direction, and on balance I liked it well enough to look forward to the last volume.
Second book in the bone witch series that I‘m starting now 🤗📖
2nd book in this trilogy. I liked this world of necromancy. In this book Tea continue her journey to find her friend‘s heartglass (no spoiler). This trilogy is so gloomy. Almost every story and journey is so sad. There are no many fun or happy scenes but I‘m still want to know what will happen with these characters, specially with Tea. 3.8⭐️
This one has some of the pacing issues that are common in middle books of a trilogy, and so far the whole thing feels like it wanted to be one REALLY big book instead of three separate books, but still really enjoyable.
Don‘t mind the mess behind my chair lol. I love everything @tdrosebud so much! That glass is awesome and the socks and towels and books and so much tea it‘s like you knew I‘d had a cold this weekend and needed more tea! Love that cute tote too! I‘m going to switch out my work bag for it for the rest of the month! Thanks so much! #litsylovefallswap #llfs
"It is odd...how something so beautiful can come out of something so grotesque."
The second book in the trilogy is just as strong as the first. The same foreboding story structure but with additional intrigue and danger. These are a very fun series of books. More relationships, more monsters, more heartbreak.
Tea‘s story continues as her hold on the dark increases and she begins to unearth rotten truths of the kingdoms. I love the overall tone and feel of this world. Nothing is easy and everything comes at a price. Every relationship, every encounter is just another uphill battle and pulls the reader in. #youngadult #darkfantasy

I‘m really enjoying this series! It definitely feels like YA, but the fantasy world here is fantastic! There was more character development in this one, and more LGBTQ characters, which was good to see. The world building was as good as the first book, which is to say it was great! Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together. Three and a half stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Another excellent book in the series. We learn quite a bit in this one. The characters are well developed and they have depth. There are parts that are pointless and annoying but that‘s all books.
Solid entry in the series. Character growth apparent.
I loved the first book in this series and was excited to see that the second was finally available on Libby
Still love the darkness and world-building, but it felt a little more stereotypically YA. Romance was a bit cheesy. I think I want to like it more than I actually do.
Follow-up to The Bone Witch. If you love a compelling anti-hero, this is a must read. Fascinating plot and characters and gorgeous writing.
The second book in the trilogy, we continue with Tea's story... now wondering what caused her to be so feared and hated by those who loved her. It seems like she's the villain in the present setting, and yet I rooted for her every step of the way.
The second book is just as amazing as the first and now I can‘t wait for the final book in the series... but I have to at least until Friday 😝😋📖 excited for a future read 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
After reading "The Bone Witch", I was glad to see that "The Heart Forger" was immediately avilable for me to read. Following these geshia-like warriors, I was once again enthralled by the storyline and cannot wait to hear the third book... once the library adds it that is.
I ordered a book for my grandson, The Outcast, but I could not resist and bought two for myself. Also bought 7 today from Book Outlet. I am so bad. I have no concept of budget when it comes to books. 🤑
I took a break from this book a few months back — I struggled to stay interested with so many flash backs — but I am so glad I came back to it. The ending was epic! I can‘t wait to read the finale in March! 💀
(Yep, those are my Wicked socks! Been wearing them almost nonstop since I finally got to see it last week!)
I really wanted to love this book as much as the first. The plot is still there, but the execution is getting sloppy. More than once she used the wrong character's name, her grammar was horrible, and the romance she threw in - 🙄 It was you quintessential YA romance. Boy despises girl, girl despises boy until they both suddenly realize they've been in love this whole time. I'm sticking out for book 3 bc the plot still has me. 3/5 ⭐
So I'm working on a bullet journal (sort of, kind of) and one of my pages is a 2019 Reading Challenge I borrowed from Pinterest. Guess I know which one I'm checking off first...🤔🙄 (97% of what I read is YA lol)
1) The Heart Forger, The Raven King & The Old Man and the Sea. I'm still in the first chapter on all 3. 🥺.
2) Hufflepuff! A little on the impatient side tho.
3) The Innocent Man and now I'll be picking up the book by John Grisham.

Im so annoyed with myself because I already read this. In June!! It was great then, and it‘s great now, and it reminded me to pre order the final book. I‘m the worst 🙄
Taking a break from realistic fiction/heartbreaking refugee stories to dive back in to my favorite genre...fantasy!
It doesn‘t photograph so well but this is my pretty tasty #BookNDinner - Cajun pasta (and a Diet Coke) and this book that I am flying through! Trying to stay warm through this cold snap and hoping for a snow day soon!
My reading has been very unfocused the past couple of months, so it's taken me a while to finish this book. That has nothing to do with this wonderfully written story at all, though. This book was even more beautiful than the first in this series, the relationships between characters more detailed and intimate. I look forward to reading the next book.
I flippin‘ LOVE Rin Chupeco! This book was even better than “The Bone Witch”. Such beautiful emotion, political intrigue, & astounding characters. The relationships between the characters are just so well developed & the dialogue is snappy and realistic, yet poignant all the same. Tea‘s relationship with both Kalen & her brother have stolen my heart. Also, SUCH AN ENDING. Don‘t think I can survive the wait til March 1st for the final book.
Thick & fluffy socks with cats and books on them 😻 They make me WAY too happy.
There is not a character named “Vador”. His name is “Vanor”. WTF, editor? 😂
I read The Bone Witch first, and fell head over heels. What a glorious author! I highly recommend these books. The second, The Heart Forger is just as beautifully written, but with much more emotion. I can't wait for the third one to be released!
My book loving Pepsi Cola
Another dedication that's about ramen. I wonder if the third book will have one too. 💜🍜
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4/5 I start school tomorrow and I‘m scared 😿
I cannot wait for the third book!
I preferred this to the first one. It‘s more brutal, but also more tender. I simultaneously never wanted to finish and yet couldn‘t wait until I reached the end.
I loved it!
5/5 for me
Starting in on both this and my banana pudding! 😋
I loved it more than the first and need to pick up the third. I felt real emotions reading this one. Taking a break for some BBQ and trying to decide what to follow that up with. 11 hours left! #24in48
I finished the first book and immediately found the second on Hoopla through my library.
Hope everyone is doing great - I moved the party outside! It‘s supposed to rain later so I‘ll get some breeze while I can. This book is perfectly engrossing so far ☠️#24in48
Just woke up, about the gather my materials and start reading for the next leg of #24in48! Nothing to do today but read. The #Hour6 challenge is for first lines. My fave #firstline of my #TBR stack is from The Heart Forger. “She wore the corpses for show.”
... I think I‘ll start with that one today 😬 Hope everyone‘s reading is going well!
I really wanted to like this book. I loved The Bone Witch and the world created by Chupeco. The writing in The Heart Forger was weak and a bit dull. There was too much jumping around and I ended up confused. This was a let down after enjoying The Bone Witch so much.
