pickMy first foray into #BrandonSanderson is going well. #Starsight was just as action-packed and exciting as #Skyward. I thought Cytonic would be the finale, but there is another book coming out this year, plus three novellas. Not sure how to feel about this.

pickI literally finished this in one day, that's how absorbed I was in the story. At first I thought the pacing was a little slow, but when I got to the end, I fully understood the reasons for it and the narrative decision that will likely continue in the sequel. I cannot express how glad I am to finally read a YA book where the romance is near nonexistent, or not the biggest side theme.

pickLoving this series. This YA Sci-fi series continues and I really cannot give any plot details as it will spoil book 1. This is definitely a series not a standalone so I highly recommend starting with Skyward. This a great series to check out if you want to dip your toe into Sci-fi. 4.5⭐️

pickThis sequel introduces a new location & fresh faces, surprising me after book 1‘s investment in team-building! The new environment lends intrigue and instigates major growth in our YA protagonist.
There‘s a goofy tone here I often find in recent #scifi à la The Martian; this book‘s “pirate-ninja” is a pet “doomslug”. I don‘t personally love that, but I‘ve still enjoyed this series. Creative, exhilarating, and, with this book, empathetic at heart.
pickBook two is very different from book one. There is less of Spensa‘s team and really even M-bot isn‘t quite as prevalent in this one. Book two finds Spensa going undercover to the enemies home to find answers. What she finds is answers to some questions she had but also trouble, lots of it.
Also, that ending. How dare Mr. Sanderson end it on such a cliffhanger? 😬🤯
Starsight is so far a great follow up to Skyward. More M-bot and Spensa and a lot less of the original team from book 1. A little sad at that but so far I love the way the story is building up and the inclusion of more alien races. Book 2 is more of a political intrigue book as Spensa goes to discover answers to why of a lot of things.

pickI really loved this sequel to Skyward, I can't honestly say which I enjoyed more. I enjoyed delving into the deeper parts of the universe as well as discovering the history of humanity and how they came to be stranded on Detritus. I can't wait for the conclusion to this story!! I also have to express my love for M-Bot who has quickly become my favourite character in this series.
pickThis was a lot of fun! I'm not sure that Iiked it quite as well as book one; I definitely missed that set of characters... I appreciated getting some answers to so many questions from the first book. Does anyone know if this is going to be a trilogy or a longer series?

It was a really stressful work day for everyone in our school district, and then the kids fought bedtime like crazy... currently laying in bed, staring at the ceiling, listening to this book. Thank god it's the weekend!
pickBook 2 in the Skyward series. So happy to find there was plenty more excitement to be had 😊 Really enjoyable series and my 12 year old is now midway through the first book and he loves it too! 😊

1 - I think both is totally plausible. In some cases authors write one book and it is a master piece, while other authors have to write multiple books to get that masterpiece.
2 - Man. That is a tough question. I love so many authors. Based on my 2020 reading, I would say Brandon Sanderson. 🙂

pickFinished my first read in 2020 and wow the bar has been set VERY HIGH. I don‘t know if anything will beat the magic of reading Skyward for the first time, but this sequel comes pretty close. pickA solid sequel to Skyward. Spensa continues fighting the aliens that have imprisoned humanity on the world of Detritus. Then she has the opportunity to infiltrate the enemy as a pilot trainee for the other side, which she seizes with her usual lack of forethought. With her angsty AI M-Bot and pet Doomslug, she takes on the entire alien bureaucracy. I felt a few wisps of Douglas Adams-level satiric absurdity along the way to a satisfying conclusion

I don‘t know why, but I really struggled with Starsight. The concept was good, but felt like it was lacking something and not as great as Skyward. Also, I found a few things guessable. :/

pickDitched reading challenge, immediately got out of reading slump, devoured book. Loved it!!!
My reading progress this month. I am very unhappy about my reading slump, but I know the reason now:
I have 19 books on my MountTBR challenge, but tons of new ones I really want to dig in - I think I am stretching this one so I don't have to pick an old book over a new, exciting one.
So, I am ditching my #MountTBR challenge. At this stage, all that happens is that the new release become books old ones, repeat.
