This is a solid book about Nefertitis life and those around here told from the pov of her half-sister Mutnodjmet. I loved how interesting all the characters were, and I was super intrigued with the history of Egypt.

The author did an excellent job of taking what little is known about Nefertiti and turning it into an intriguing story. She follows Nefertiti's life through the eyes of her sister. I'll definitely read more of this author's books. #ReadingAfrica2022 #Egypt #AlmostAChunksterChallenge (464 pages). I absolutely loved reading this book and I'm so glad this is the 1st book in a three part series. Fantastic book about the rise of Queen Nefertiti and her royal family. Brilliant!

An interesting historical novel that, while grounded in research, includes a good bit of speculation about Nefertiti, her life, and her family. It is told from the perspective of her sister, who is a much more sympathetic character than Nefertiti. It was a very different historical period for me that frequently sent me down the research rabbit hole. Definitely a worthwhile read. Thanks again, @Eggs

This one was a bit on the long side but I flew right through it because it was so hard to put down. The story of the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti's rise to power told from the viewpoint of her sister and faithful servant, Mutnodjmet. Lives, dreams,and legacies were constantly in danger but the story was well balanced with interesting details of every day life for women in Ancient Egypt. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Caught this on sale! It's been on my Goodreads want to read for forever! I'm really looking forward to traveling back in time to Ancient Egypt with this one 🙌

Interesting insight from the sisters perspective! It was nice gaining insight into ancient Egypt, but quite a bit was embellished

3.75 ⭐ and intriguing story about Nefertiti. Much of it is based on the author's research. I enjoy reading about other cultures in antiquity. This narrator is Nefertiti's sister. Amazing how advanced this civilization was.

Trying to keep cool on this August Bank Holiday, it's hit 30°c which for us Brits is a tad warm😓 but I've solved it...find a spot by the fan and read the afternoon away.

This book is good so far, I never knew Nefertiti was so manipulative and politically minded even at the age of 16. Hearing the story from the younger sister, Mutnodjmet, offers an innocence to the tale but how long till she is corrupted by the court?

My first Michelle Moran book!

I finished this yesterday and it was just okay. I hated the way she portrayed Nefertiti. She had no depth, just an arrogant, plotting, deceitful woman who was never happy and always wanted more. This just wasn‘t the historical fiction I was hoping for about such a powerful historical figure. The writing is good but the plot didnt keep me wanting more.

In the mood for some historical fiction. Another book that has just been sitting on my shelf. Time to get to it

This was excellent! I've read many novels set in Ancient Rome but not so many in Ancient Egypt. Now I need more!

I finally finished this book! I wasn‘t too sure if I liked it at first, but after finishing it, I loved it. I remember reading about Nefertiti as a kid in history books. It was great to read a historic fiction about her. I would recommend this book!

Enjoying some late night reading before going to bed. The book was a bit slow at first, but now things are starting to get interesting with conspiracies, and political games....

Another awesome book deal!! This book was superb. One of my faves from Michelle Moran. Great Historical/biographical fiction. I would recommend it even if these aren't your preferred genres.

These are 2 very royal Egyptian women whose stories I have yet to read about but plan to.

Reviews seem pretty mixed for Schiff's Pulitzer prize winning biography on Cleopatra, but I've heard nothing but great feedback about Moran's fictional take on the life of Nefertiti.
Happy to hear your thoughts on these 2 if anyone's read them!

I even went ahead and bought some magazines that featured Nefertiti, Akhenaten or anything that featured this era which early Egyptians tried to bury. This book rekindled my fascination with the early history of Egypt! And maybe history in general #iwonder

An awesome read with drama:- love, betrayal, deception and lies. This story was told from Mutny or Mutnodjmet (Nefertiti's younger sister) point of view. Nefertiti was the charmer, beautiful one, recalcitrant and power consumed sister, while Mutny was the kind, honest and wise sister. Although they were different and did not see eye to eye on certain issues, their love for one another and their family, surpassed all these. Very engaging read!

I expected to like this book more than I did. It didn't feel authentic enough for me. I felt like the author could have changed the names and set the story in Tudor England or ancient China or 16th century France.

I wonder if our names determine our destiny, or if destiny leads us to choose certain names.
