⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My May #Roll100 pick. This was sitting on my #TBR for some time…glad I finally got to meet Flynn.
I‘m not usually one for a ‘coming of age‘ story but hot damn did I love this book. I absolutely loved the mystery aspect and I truly loved the characters. Maybe I‘m just not very educated but I feel like I don‘t really see many queer mystery books and this was definitely one that should be one everyone‘s radar!
3.5 ⭐️ Read on my Kindle. I thought the writing was ok, and I was really interested in the story and what happened to January. I liked the LGBT element as well. Quick read and enjoyable.
It was good but it never really caught my attention until the last 100 or so pages. The ending was very un satisfying to me.
I really enjoyed this book on more than one level. I liked the mystery aspect and I kind of, almost, had it pegged correctly... almost. 😏 But for me the self-discovery of Flynn and his developing understanding of exactly who he is and who the missing January is (or was) played out beautifully and I enjoyed getting to know the characters, as each was not as they first seemed. I‘ll be reading this author again.
Roehrig really delves into stories of people who have learned their lives are changed, and they need to solve the mystery in front of them to start putting things back together. Both of Roehrig‘s books are some of the best thrillers I've read in a while. That's not even getting into the added bonus that both of his books are thrillers with queer protagonists. And that feels almost revolutionary to me as a reader. #lgbtreads #gayya
Flynn's girlfriend has disappeared. How can he uncover her secrets without revealing his own?
Flynn's girlfriend, January, is missing. The cops are asking questions he can't answer, and her friends are telling stories that don't add up. All eyes are on Flynn—as her boyfriend, he must know something.
But Flynn has a secret of his own. And as he struggles to uncover the truth about her disappearance, he must also face the truth about himself.
Just started planning my #spookathon tbr. As you can tell, I have yet to make some progress.
Is anyone else participating in spookathon during the week of Oct. 16-21?
I really enjoyed this ya mystery. The author did an amazing job of making the chapters end on cliffhangers, so I never wanted to put this book down.
The disappearance of Flynn's girlfriend has him desperately trying to keep his secret from everyone. Caleb Roehrig's storytelling and unraveling is so very compelling. #ya #yalovin #youngadult #booknerd #booknerdigans #bookish #bookphotography #bibliophile #bookworm #booklover #bookblogger #bookaholic #bookaddict #yawednesdays
Nobody told me this book would be so impossible to put down! #nowreading #Pride #PrideMonth #doweevenusehashtagshere
Some real dark teen thriller stuff, some sometimes rough coming out stuff, some mystery stuff. #stuff
Turns out this is kind of the perfect book to listen to while playing Persona 5.
Just finished reading this book--it was an enjoyable YA mystery novel, although I have to admit that I bought it mostly because of the gorgeous cover picture. I found the protagonist believable as a teenager, with all the frustrating choices a teenager might do, so if that isn't your cup of tea I'd suggest to look elsewhere for a good piece of detective work, but the story did keep me glued to the book for the last 100 pages or so.
Enjoyable and quick thriller/mystery book. With some great characters and a lot of drama.
"Rape was violence, not sex..." this book is doing a pretty good job talking about/bringing up some tough topics without completely throwing them in your face or being overwhelming about it.
#bookeiot challenge day 2. And let's be real #whereiread is #everywhere (but especially where there's food). #riotgrams
A decent YA mystery. I guessed part of the ending and a few times wanted to yell at the characters for making dumb decisions (they seemed to be authentic, teenager-y decisions, however, so I credit my age for my response to the situations). Overall quite enjoyable.
(4 stars) Three Thoughts 1) a solid mystery that kept me turning the pages though not entirely sold on ending 2) enjoyed the MC & his story but felt his love interest read as younger & found it hard to buy him as a college student 3) well written & enjoyed the narration for the parts I did via audio will definitely be looking forward to Roehrig's next book!
A great beginning! Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
So, there's a New Years superstition that whatever you do on New Years Day, you'll spend the year doing that something. I'm okay with that 🤓

Only amateurs and quitters roll over and go to sleep after they turn the last page. The rest of us slide one off our tbr pile because we know the promise of chapter one 📖

Aw I really enjoyed this! Not a perfect mystery and some things didn't really fit together, but Flynn is a great character and I really appreciated how he grew during the story. Fun Sunday morning read 📚
A YA thriller/romance unlike any others I've read. There are a lot of stories about missing teens, but this one is unexpected and engaging. There were a few moments that I was yelling at the main character for his stupidity, but overall, I couldn't put it down. Each chapter ends in a way that forces you to keep reading. I also LOVE the romance in this story. So sweet and real.
Fantastic. The end was surprising and a nice twist on the classic "who done it" Plus our main character was hilarious, real, and relatable.
Even though I have terrible distance vision, my new eye doctor today explained that the way my eyes work, it's like I have a super power. I can (and I bet a lot of littens, too) read faster than most because my eyes work so well together that it's much easier and we don't get fatigued. That's why a lot of us do better in school, too. #TheMoreYouKnow
My mother had shoulder surgery a few days ago, and she's taking a few months off work. Here she is settled on the couch with one of my books 👍🏼
This is a great tale of suspense with a wonderful coming of age back story. Categorized as YA but definitely has a grown up feel.
A surprisingly good read. A missing persons mystery with a boy meets boy set up. You've got yourself an interesting read. #lastseenleaving #calebroehrig #greatreads #lgbtfiction
Only a few days left on my library loan, and finally starting #lastseenleaving by #calebroehrig
This is a no for me. It took me too long to get into, and it pretty much moved slowly until the uneventful end.
"The carpeting was threadbare and smelled like mothballs and butt" interesting description ??????
Page turner. Read it in one sitting, very interesting story.
After a crazy week, I'm finally taking a moment to relax ☕️📖🎃
I do love a good mystery. And YA. Intrigued to check this one out!
Liked this one even though the mystery wasnt all that mysterious to me.
I think the YA crowd will love this book and though I was able to see a few things coming, it was still engaging enough that I was eager to reach the conclusion. There is also some LGBT romance here which is such an important addition to fiction, especially YA fiction. An impressive debut from Roehrig, he is one to watch.
This debut YA thriller is awesome, a bit slow to develop but ultimately twisty and shocking. The characters are so easy to relate to and it's not hard to get invested. This would make a good pick for a book club or a buddy read, there are so many things to discuss and flail about. Look for this in-stores on October 4th!
This is not just a coming of age book but also a good mystery. Full review on http://www.readinggrrl.com
Just received the coolest advanced copy from @bookbrag ! It felt like a perverse Christmas as I unwrapped the missing person newspaper and discovered Flynn's tale. Can't wait to dive into this one! #LastSeenLeaving #HaveYouSeenJanuary
My current reads! I hope this momentum post reading slump stays around for awhile! 😀🙏📚
