“She assumed that she knew, but assumptions were fantasies that had the delusion of reality.”
Characters felt realistic. I loved especially the beginning of the book where a main character was grieving for loosing her close one. That was relatable.
The beginning was scarier than the rest of the book and that might have also made the beginning better.
This felt a bit repetitive: the same pattern happened several times. The last part was a bit luch.

“Each death leads to smaller, invisible deaths inside the hearts of those left behind.”
This was a weird, creepy, wild ride of a book. Keisha is a truck driver on a mission to find her missing wife Alice, who she is sure isn't dead. On her travels, she begins to uncover a mysterious conspiracy in the forgotten parts of America and must contend with evils she's never imagined

I gave it a good ole second chance, but again, I couldn‘t get very far. I was initially drawn in by the cover. Then the synopsis got me: truck driver trying to find her wife, presumed dead, being followed by a serial killer. But then it‘s basically instantly weird with no build up and then it coasts. I didn‘t really care to see if it would get exciting.

Finished up the team read for #TeamSlaughter #Scarathlon2021 now I'm moving on to this one! I have a physical copy so I'm going to do some immersion reading with this one.

A thrifting book haul! Went looking for old Sandra Brown books (only need 15 left of her published works and I have them all) and came out with a little more than expected! Excited to read them all!
I never listened to the podcast (I was more of a night vale person) so I don‘t know how it stands up. But the book had good mysteries and a story that moved.
I‘m not sure why I didn‘t connect very well with Alice Isn‘t Dead. Maybe it jumped around in time too much, although that‘s not something that usually bothers me. It felt a little choppy in this instance, and at times it was a bit hard to follow. I liked the premise, I think the execution just wasn‘t for me.
"Riding horses was just like walking, she decided, only to go anywhere you first had to persuade a gigantic toddler that they wanted to go there too."
Having grown up with horses, I can attest to the truth of this, and it made me laugh.
Aren‘t these thistle endpapers gorgeous?

Day 1 ALICE ISN‘T DEAD
A fun, slightly gory, supernatural thriller. From the creators of Welcome to Night Vale. Need I say more? ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5.

Took awhile and I had to renew the loan a few times, but I finally finished it.
It wasn't too different from the podcast. It had a few small changes here and there. I was hoping it would add more to the lore than it did. The audiobook is read by the same person who does the podcast, which made me happy.
Overall, it's just as good as the podcast. I enjoyed it.
I ADORE Welcome to Nightvale, so I was sure this would be up my alley and I was right. Keisha‘s wife, Alice, is presumed dead but Keisha sees her popping up in the background on the news all over the country. She becomes a long-distance truck driver to seek out her wife and the truth...which is so SO much stranger and more complicated than she was prepared for. I love Fink‘s wit, dark humor, and realistic characters. (Image from tumblr)
This isn't a novel, it's a road trip. A long, winding, anxiety-fueled road trip. I'm interested in seeing where it ends. 🚚

Ok, I finished this and I have lots of thoughts that I will get to eventually. Or not. Whatever. My question is...is the podcast different enough to be worth listening to? I'm a passionate WTNV fan and I need another podcast to listen to....especially a creepy one. I love creepy podcasts.
Here is the Fuzz, thoughtfully looking out the window and wondering...what's it all about?
Just picked this one up...it definitely fits my mindset right now.
Ella poses magnificently.
I just devoured this in 24 hours. It‘s a quick read but not light. Fink won me over with “Welcome to Nightvale” and continues to be a thoughtful, creative, fantastical storyteller. He combines social commentary with affirmation without losing plot or momentum. I loved this book.
“A life does not have to be satisfying or triumphant. A life does not have to mean anything or lead anywhere. A life does not need a direction or a goal. But sometimes a person is lucky enough to have a life with all that anyway.”
Book chosen in one of my book clubs. It is about good, bad and neutral aliens? Really? Such a bad story, it didn't make any sense to me and that ending😱terrible! I don't know what else to say1.5/2⭐️
"It wasn't only Alice who died. Each death leads to smaller, invisible deaths inside the hearts of those left behind."
Yeah, ok, I'm addicted to this book already. I'm a good quarter or so through it and it's quirky, relatable, with a bit of thriller-mystery-horror vibe going on.
I did NOT realize that this was originally a podcast but hey, I can't wait to listen to them when this book is over!
NEW IN - Alice Isn't Dead by Joseph Fink.
I'm ready for the road trip! Do any of my following Littens enjoy this book?
Mystery and thrill were great! I loved the cast of characters and realistic dialogue. I fell in love with Keisha and Sylvia. There are flaws in pacing and execution, but overall I thought it was a pretty fun read.
What a gorgeous cover this is. I would read it all in one go if I didn't have to work :(

Pretty happy with my reading progress in the first six days of the new year. Picked up the tagged book and audiobook at the library today. It‘s my preferred way of experiencing a book. Realized I hadn‘t put My GoodReads goal in after I took the picture. Going for 80 again.
“A life does not have to be satisfying or triumphant. A life does not have to mean anything or lead anywhere. A life does not need a direction or a goal. But sometimes a person is lucky enough to have a life with all that anyway.”
Keisha and Alice‘s relationship was the best-written part of this story. The overall horror plot just doesn‘t come across on the page as strongly as it does on the podcast, unfortunately. On to my daily yoga now!
#currentlyreading The podcast was recommended to my by my friend but I never get around to listening to podcasts I‘ve been meaning too. Novel version was on sale for kindle!
If you like the weirdness and general batshit storylines from Welcome to the Night Vale, then you will probably dig this book by the creator of said craziness. Keisha's wife goes missing, presumed dead, and so Keisha travels the highways of America as a trucker, searching for answers, coming up against monsters, crimes, government conspiracies, haunted service stations and an age old darkness...
Meh. Didn‘t love it. Entertaining but I think it tried to do too much.
A little past the half way point. (On audio)
I was enjoying the first part and now this second part is getting pretty wacky and I‘ve disconnected with what‘s going on. I‘ll stick through it cause it has to have a good ending, right?
Why did the chicken cross the road?🐔
🛣
Because on one side was everything she had ever known and on the other side was a future, maybe,
and even though she was afraid to leave everything she had ever known, she also wanted a future, maybe,
and so hesitating, and then not, and then moving quickly, running, sprinting, even, desperate, she crossed, and found a future, maybe,
leaving behind everything she had ever known.

We may be experiencing snow but I am still in that October reading mindset
So I have had the plague it seems for like ever and I have literally crawled out from under my rock for one day to listen to this guy talk about this book and then I came back home and let the rock fall on me again...... Both the podcast and story have really shaped how I‘m spending the start of my new year #lgbtqa #gay #geek #wtnv
Love this book! Very Neil Gaimanish / Jeremy Bushnellish
Well there goes my TBR...

As a fan of the podcast version I hope this doesn‘t disappoint💀🚛🛣 I have to read this cover to cover in 12 hours. Should be easy right!?
I‘m a huge Welcome To Night Vale fan, so I‘m excited to read this. 😍📖
Pretty excited about this bookmail!
