This is a weak recommendation for me…I enjoyed the story, and even more the artwork overall. However, I don‘t want to continue in with the series beyond volume one. 3/5

This is another from @Patchshank ‘s #NYWD list that I had on TBR for ages and was happy to finally get to. I love the artwork and the creepiness of this southern gothic story. I have the next two volumes in from the library to read soon.

This entire comic series is phenomenal; from the story, the characters, the quality of writing and the art, it manages to surpass even novels that I have thoroughly enjoyed. It takes that old southern superstition and folklore and really delivers a wonderfully entertaining story.

This was a really intriguing start to what seems like an original but also very old school horror series. I loved the southern gothic witchcraft world building and the art was fantastic!

I've been looking for a new horror graphic novel series to get sucked into, and I finally found it!

Between witches, sinister creatures, and evil twins the creepy factor in this first volume was never-ending. Good solid storytelling that draws you in from the start. The artwork is amazing too 😍

Time for a binge read! I had to borrow the 3rd one from the library because I can't buy anymore right now. I plan to keep reading the series. I've read the first two before and I loved them. Happy Halloween! 👻🎃

Fantastic beginning to this series. We follow Emmy as she learns some dark truths about herself, her father, and the people she grew up around. Horrific at times, but also startlingly sweet and uplifting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

I enjoyed this read although I wasn‘t as big a fan of this style of artwork (I‘m in the minority here). Probably won‘t continue with this series.

THE perfect time of year to pick up the Harrow County series. An atmospheric, creepy coming of age story, set in the rural hills of the mid-century American south. Really compelling storytelling with a nice mix of horror and heart. And oh my goodness, Tyler Crook‘s art is gorgeous even when it‘s grotesque. Killer story/art combo. Really solid opening volume (the first four single issues). I can‘t wait to read more! #catapproved

A southern gothic tale of witches and haints. 18 years ago the folks of Harrow County burned witch Hester Beck alive and have lived every day since with the dread she'll make good on her final promise to come back and make them pay.
As Emmy's 18th birthday approaches, fear grips those who were there to see the witch swing from the tree, lighting up the night. Is Emmy as innocent as she seems- or is she the kept promise of Hester Beck?

Tired (why can't we hibernate during the winter? I think there's a flaw in the design!), so I'm grabbing some caffeine and diving into Vol.1.

Wow! Read the first volume of Harrow County just now and I have to say, it was everything that I wanted Scott Snyder's Wytches comic to be (but wasn't (at least for me)). Really enjoyed it; LOVED the watercolour art work and it was genuinely pretty friggen creepy! 😍 Just enough of a hook at the end to keep me wanting more too!

Oh god this is GREAT and TERRIFYING!!! Also oddly the 2nd time this month (and ever) that I've read about haints and holy crap why are they so much more creepy than plain ol' ghosts!!??
Be prepared to be both scared shitless by & charmed by the scary things at the same time!also the extras in this G.N. are great-like these little tidbits above.

Ugh! Post Office around here stinks. Every time Amazon uses a padded mailer my book arrives damaged. They just wad them up and jam them in the mailbox. 🙄Still excited to read this on Halloween. 😊🎃

While I‘m in the midst of several longer books as well, I‘ve read a few graphic novels recently.

On her eighteenth birthday, Emmy learns a dark secret about her father and her townspeople that threatens her existence. A classic and creepy Southern Gothic that asks if the past is ever really the past or dead. Looking forward to volume 2.

A rural horror story with ghosts and witches, but the scariest things are the superstitious villagers.

An awesome graphic novel. Dark and haunting and full of magic. Very creepy. I loved it.

Creepy AF. At least the beginning was. The story got a bit confusing by the end of the collection and the lead to the next issue throws a big curveball of "what?" I hope I can get my hands on the next volume!

This was equally interesting, disturbing, boring, and curious. The start to the series, our Mai. Heroine seems to be the reincarnation of a witch her town killed 18 years ago. On her 18th bday, the townsfolk (including her dad!) try again! It ends seemingly in a flash forward. Will read the second volume and see if I want to keep going from there.

I just signed up for the 24 in 48 Readathon this weekend! I'll be working all day Saturday, and after that I'll probably collapse, so there's no way I'll get close to 24 hours of reading. But that's okay! And, this is the first time I'm participating only on LITSY! Yaaaay!!!
