Just finished s1 of Troppo (based on this book) I never would have picked it up to read yet the show hooked me, kept me up late on a hot summer night (not like I was going to be able to sleep anyway) & had me whispering, “just 1 more episode” entirely too many times for someone who had work in the morning. It was a slow burn solving of the deaths of two local men - with fascinating character studies of the two damaged individuals looking into it.

I never knew where the plot would go next, and the last 30 pages or so had me on the edge of my seat. I need the second book immediately!

Here‘s my review for a book I DNF‘d this afternoon. I read this book for #scarathlon. I‘m counting this book towards the #readingsprint I participated in today and I‘m giving myself points for participating in that but I‘m not doing the word search on this book or counting it as being read because I didn‘t finish it.

Today, I‘m sharing a coloring page I‘ve started this month that is a work in progress. I‘m going to count it as a #spookycraft for #scarathlon. I worked on it during a #readingsprint this afternoon from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm so I read for 2 hours and I‘ve decided that I‘m going to DNF this book. This book isn‘t for me. I‘m not enjoying it. I‘m disappointed about this book but I like how my coloring page looks so far.

I‘m still not feeling invested in this story. I‘m going to keep reading until I get to 60% and if the book doesn‘t get better by then, I‘ll DNF it.

I started this book. I‘m not invested in the story yet but I‘m going to keep reading it.

Fox understands that people (even normal people) have a dark side, and her characters portray such a dichotomy. I love the atmosphere in her works, the feeling and the darkness. From the very first page, readers are white-knuckling it until the end. I‘m excited every time I pick up one of her books.

Oh boy did I enjoy this nice, fast-paced Australian crime novel. Ted was the typically complex and damaged detective/protagonist (in this case ex-real detective turned PI). But the cast of secondary characters around him were what made it better than many. Amanda, his PI partner was weird and intriguing and Val the pathologist was sharp as a tack and straight talking (I wanted more). I picked part of the ending but not everything which was good

A crime thriller for this week‘s audio on my commute. It‘s got your standard troubled male detective but it‘s still a good listen.

I'm so thankful to Forge Books for sending a hardcover of Crimson Lake and then an ARC for the 2nd book, Redemption Point.

This was a great thriller. The female main character made me think of a mix between Stephanie Plum and Lisbeth Salander. Super strange to put together, but it worked. Lots of twists and sub plots. This was anything but dull and I really liked how it all came together in the end! #goodreadsgiveaways

I‘m gonna sit here and read all day.

This one takes place in Australia where two misfits/criminals join forces to solve a disappearance. The background story is as interesting as the main plot. Nice read.

Fans of Dragon Tattoo series??? This is definitely your book then! Great read so far!

I thought the angle of the main characters being accused or convicted of serious crimes was interesting. Ted was seemingly in the wrong place at the wrong time (although the cynic in me wonders if the author will eventually pull an ‘unreliable narrator‘ on the reader).

One negative I could‘ve done without is a couple of instances of animal killing but they were mercifully brief. Rating: 4 🌟

Fell asleep too early (apparently), 🤬 so now I‘m up half of the night.. just going to start this one! #amreading

This was fantastically atmospheric. I got a real sense of the Cairns area. All three mysteries intertwined without distracting. Ted and Amanda make such an interesting professional pairing that I really hope nothing romantic develops between the two. I hope book 2 is from Amanda‘s perspective since I would love her point of view. I suspect one of the mysteries was inspired by a true crime that occurred about 50 years ago. Fun creepy read.

Started a new puzzle and Crimson Lake on audio today. This is an intriguing Aussie-based mystery featuring an ex murderer and a cop accused of attempted murder who pair up as PIs to investigate a case involving a missing author.

New York Puzzle Co and Libro.fm are the perfect pairing!

This book has not one, not two, but three really intriguing mysteries. Ex-cop Ted relocates after being accused of a heinous crime and partners up with wacky, tattooed Amanda who also has prison in her past. They team up to solve the mystery of a famous missing author who may have gotten on the wrong side of a crocodile...the inside. 😳😬 The sequel is available in Australia...but they don't ship to the U.S. 😢😟😔

Just gonna read the first page--cut to 70 pages later, guess I'll be reading this today.

I'm really surprised by how much I enjoyed this! (Patterson collaborators aren't generally my thing.) The author weaves together three enticing mysteries set in small town Australia, with the MC wrongfully accused of a horrific crime. It ends with the promise of more to come.

I really enjoyed this. A murder mystery set in North Queensland, Australia. Love reading books set in Australia and especially places I've travelled to. It reminds me a bit of Peter Temple (another Australian mystery writer) with the flawed detective but maybe not quite so dark. Definitely going to read the next book in the series.

Australian crime fiction that's almost a 3 for the price of 1! Two embattled ex-cons who stand accused of serious, unrelated crimes, team up as private investigators looking into an author that's gone missing. But what actually happened with their own cases? Are they guilty of the crimes they're infamous for? 🐊

I enjoyed this a lot! Gritty, complex, suspenseful. Definitely an author to look out for! US release date is March 2018 #ARC

Crime fiction as a genre can be sooo hit or miss for me, luckily this one was tops ?

?Far North Queensland setting, rainforests, swamps and crocs
?Saltwater crocs are a handy way to "disappear" someone, know what I mean?
????‍?A pair of misfit private eyes, each with a mysterious backstory

There's *almost* too much going on, and the female MC is *almost* too quirky, but the writing holds it together. A cracking read.

You will never meet a more unlikely duo of detectives but they have one thing in common and this draws them together. The book was really engaging with a great story behind it. Hopefully we will see this duo again
