Woah, I had no idea this book was going to be so dark and disturbing. What the heck did I even read?! It was good, confusing at times, but the author wrapped it up very well. What a twisted story, and one that I think is actually going to haunt me a little!

I'm going to give this a 2.5 star. Just because I could not connect with the book for majority of the book, and I honestly thought what is the point of this book.. then when you find out, it's disturbing and weird as heck but just couldn't save it for me.

#LittensDressedInBlood – Sweet But Psycho – This prompt reminded me of Gram. She seems like a sweet old lady, inviting Margot into her heart and home, when Margot has always wanted more family than just her mother. But when Margot gets to the farm, she finds out there‘s a lot more there…

I‘m in LOVE 😍😍😍 with these covers.
Both books are in my TBR. #shielded #burnourbodiesdown #rorypower #kaylynnflanders #tbr #read

Yucky corn. Yucky apricots. A heroine who realizes she shouldn‘t have to be so strong; she shouldn‘t have to bear it all. A message about self-determination. It‘s a mixed bag.
For creepy & corn-y books, I prefer Bone Gap by Laura Ruby, though that one‘s not perfect, either. For dark fruit that‘s far superior to yucky apricots & a story that‘s absolutely perfect in every way, read We Have Always Lived in the Castle.

What an interesting and weird story! I definitely wasn't expecting that plot twist towards the end.

1. I sure as heck do!
2. I‘ve already posted about Winterkeep twice today, so I went back a month or two for this.
3. I think the age of the main character is the main thing, but not the only thing. Like, Jude from the Cruel Prince is 16 or 17, but I don‘t think of that trilogy as YA because it‘s so dark and intense. YA tends to be a bit more shallow and light, even when it‘s horror (like the tagged book).

I loved this. I will follow Rory Power anywhere—as long as I can physically stay indoors with the lights on.

“Tess said Gram plants. I‘m not sure she‘s right, though. The corn is growing, but from the emptiness, from the complete absence of any kind of machinery, I doubt Gram has much to do with it.”
I really don‘t know what‘s going on but I am all in.

I read both of these YA thrillers recently and LOVED them so much! The Cousins is a family drama thriller that kept me guessing until the end, and Burn Our Bodies Down was eerie, disturbing, creepy, and exactly what I've come to expect from Rory Power! 😂🤣 If you loved Wilder Girls I think you will also love this! 💕📚 #dragonsoflitsy #dragonlibrarian

I enjoyed this book a lot. Can‘t say I enjoyed it as much as WILDER GIRLS, but once I realized this book was going to be more of a slow burn (I swear I‘m not making a pun), I got into it much more. There are lots of twists that keep your wondering WTF is going on along the way. Rory Power has a unique style of weird, and I‘m looking forward to seeing how her style evolves in her future books.

Really liked this exchange between Margot and an officer in her family‘s hometown. Just gives things a western vibe, but it also really keeps building up the mystery of Margot‘s origins and why her mom fled the rest of their family.

WILDER GIRLS was one of my fav books, so I‘ve been looking forward to diving into her latest, BURN OUR BODIES DOWN. So far, it‘s delivering on the batshit weirdness that is distinctly Rory Power. I‘m already about fifty pages into it; looking forward to seeing where things will go.

I think this books has phenomenal characters and atmosphere. I also really loved the ending and will never look at 🌽 or apricots the same way ever again but I think the first three quarters of this book were a little slow. I wanted something more but can't quite put my finger on it.

Such a weird book, ya'll! But I liked it, and the plot has stayed with me longer than I anticipated.

I know I‘m supposed to be working, but this is a one-sitting kind of book, so it‘s not my fault. 🤷🏼♀️ I loved WILDER GIRLS but I loved this one even more. It‘s delightfully creepy and claustrophobic and brutally honest about the complicated relationships between parents and their children. Gah. I loved it so much more than I was expecting. Book 1 for #feastmode done! 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃

Did I wake up extra early to get a head start on the #feastmode Readathon? Why yes I did, thank you for noticing.
Starting off with something that should be pretty fast-moving. Still not over CODE NAME VERITY, but the best way to defeat a book hangover is to soldier on.

Margot runs away from home to find out about her family as her mother has never told her about them. She meets her Grandmother & discovers that some things are best left alone.
This is such a slow moving book. It doesn‘t really get going until the last 25% of it. By the time it kicked into gear, I‘d lost interest. 3⭐️

⭐️⭐️⭐️Slow start. Better. Bad ending
Margot finds a Bible that her mother has kept that has notes about her Mom and her mother‘s twin sister in it. Margot decides to go back to the town her mother is from. Things are are strange there. A girl is found dead due to a fire and it seems eerily similar to a fire on the same property many years ago. What is the secret her grandmother is keeping from her? What does fire have to do with any of this?

I enjoyed the two panels I made it to yesterday for #TexasBookFestival #TexasTeenBookFestival.
I‘m planning on three for today!
This one was Rory Power, Nina LaCour, and Aiden Thomas, moderated by Ann Lyon. About YA Horror. It was delightful!

This book is not without merit but I found it unfocused. The bulk of the book felt like being in a whirlpool. You just spin around the plot without any direction or purpose.🌪

Managed to finish 3 books already today, and just started on the fourth - Stuck on Murder. The pros to slipping your sleep schedule, and being awake all night😉
Burn Our Bodies Down was FANTASTIC! 5/5⭐️
Candy Hearts was laugh out loud funny. 5/5⭐️
Paw of the Jungle was a decent cozy. 3.5/5⭐️

A cool ya with a mystery and weird family and maybe a little sci-fi.

Burn Our Bodies Down is a fantastic book for people who love a creepy thriller and teen angst at the same time. Rory Power has not failed to thrill her readers again! Her 1st book Wilder Girls was a bit weird for me. Like it was supernatural beyond believable. I‘m not sure why I expected different with this one. I was to far a into it to just ditch it altogether the ending Ugh just sucked for lack of a better term.

THE DETAILS⤏ HORROR THAT FEELS SLIGHTLY SUPERNATURAL-ISH...WELL, MAYBE? ⤏ YA-ISH ⤏ A DASH OF CHILDREN OF THE CORN ⤏ A DASH OF THE MURDERS OF MOLLY SOUTHBOURNE ⤏ MIX IT UP WITH SOME PFAS-LIKE KNID OF SHIT...
What do you rate a book that completely baffled you...do you give high marks or low marks...I went with the middle of the flipping road, standing next to a cornfield, confused as hell...3 stars all the way.

“Ever since Margot was born, it's been just her and her mother. No answers to Margot's questions about what came before. No history to hold on to. No relative to speak of. Just the two of them, stuck in their run-down apartment, struggling to get along.”
I‘m really into psych thrills the past few weeks. I‘m about to dive into Rory Power‘s Burn Our Bodies Down.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book In lieu of my honest review.

One of my most anticipated novels of the year just arrived in the mail. As soon as I finish THE CITY WE BECAME, I‘m cracking into this. #happydance #bookmail

An interesting & creepy second novel. I had really enjoyed Wilder Girls but I may have enjoyed this one even more. I read this in only two sittings because it was so intriguing. I was just as invested in figuring out the history of the Nielsen family as the main character and narrator, Margot. Her relationship with her mother was interesting enough on its own. Then you throw in the small town & secretive grandma, and this book is unputdownable.

I fell in love with the description and cover of this book, but the story didn't live up to either. Margot is told all her life that it is just her and her mother. But after finding evidence of a grandmother left behind in Phalene, Margot goes on her own to meet her. Vera is not the warm and fuzzy grandmother Margot hoped for and finds her to be an exact replica of her mother. Family secrets are revealed as a girl is found dead on Vera's land.

4/5
Once I started reading Burn Our Bodies down, I couldn't put it down until I learned all the secrets the Neilsons were hiding as Margot tries to understand her family and where she came from.

Wanting to spread the love. Does another #LitsyLove member want to read it? It was given to me by another kind soul and I would love to pay it forward. If you‘re a part of #LitsyLove I already have ur address so let me know :)

Wow this one was like a punch in the gut. I loved this so much. The relationship between mother and daughter is a heavily explored theme here and this story had me in tears when I was finished. I really felt for Margot and really felt like I was on a journey with her in search of answers and family.
Thank you @Moonprismpower for letting me read this!

A little early morning reading. When you cannot sleep read a book! Burn Our Bodies Down is the new book by Rory Power, author of Wilder Girls! .
A hometown mystery...a girl and her mother with no past. Right up my alley! .
Book comes out July 2020!
.
Book review to be posted soon!

Another knock out body horror thriller from Rory Power. Tellingly, I stayed up way too late last night to finish it because I couldn't put it down. Margot searches for answers about her family's past from a grandmother she never knew about--only to learn the horrifying secrets everyone has been keeping from her about the family farm and her own origin.
4 stars / ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Anybody else always keep their kindle in their purse *just in case*? 😂

I received this kindly from Netgalley for an honest review. I love the cover, liked, but not loved the book. It promised to be creepy, but the twist came a little late and the plot wasn‘t as eerie as the twist itself. It comes out July 7 and if you loved her first book you will probably like this one, but if you just liked it, you probably will feel the same for book 2.

Sunday morning as it should be
