First time reading this childhood favorite as an adult. I enjoyed it just as much now as I did then. Brought back so many memories and Clearly does an amazing job at taking me right back to that time of life and all the feelings that went with being 15. Now I need to reread Jean and Johnny and The Luckiest Girl. I didn‘t care much for Sister of the Bride so I‘ll probably skip that one.

Read for #ChildrensClassicRead2024 this was a fun YA novel published in 1956 & one I hadn‘t read before. It‘s also part of Beverly Cleary‘s Young Love series. Full of charm & the still relatable angst of being a teenage girl who likes a boy, has nothing in her closet to wear & wants so badly to be like the cool girl at school. It made me smile & I might have to find & read the other two books one of these days. 👗💕

#Naturalitsy #HyggeReadathon
Spending my #HyggeHour with Beverly Cleary for #ChildrensClassicRead2024 Although I‘ve read most of the Ramona & Beezus books, I don‘t remember ever reading this book or the follow-ups.
Accompanying my reading is raspberry lemonade & puffcorn (which I find addicting so I‘ll have to put the bag away soon!) 😋
My mood is mellow, a little tired & gearing up for a busy week preparing for a Friday business review.😬

The weather has been warm and sunny in my area for the last few days. I finally had a chance to enjoy some outdoor reading time! ☀️ And did I ever enjoy this book! Cleary so aptly captured that teenage angst/first love/growing into yourself vibe. It reminded me of my own teenage years and how earnest/important it all seemed even when it wasn‘t. 🙃 This was really well done IMHO. 5/5⭐️

#HyggeHourReadathon
Spending my #HyggeHour finishing Trixie for #BobWhiteBuddies & if I get time, starting the tagged book for #ChildrensClassicRead2024 on my Kindle & enjoying some dark chocolate with lilikoi
Mood is tired & stuffy. Why are weekends so short? Gearing up for another busy work week.

I saw several #ChildrensClassicRead2024 posts for this & decided I‘d join! I was an avid reader of the Ramona books as a kid, but hadn‘t read any of Beverly Cleary‘s books for teens. I picture the Ramona books taking place in the 70s and 80s, so I had to keep readjusting my view of the timeframe to remember that this was written in the 50s! This is such a sweet story with a great message, as Jane learns to take mishaps in stride and ⤵️

Such a fun nostalgia trip! Jane is the consummate good girl trying to navigate her first real adventure in dating, which in the 50s is the thing that makes her feel like she truly fits in with her sophomore class. Dating looks different now, but some things are timeless like the embarrassment of being 15, the experience of gaining confidence in yourself, the horrors of babysitting, the little fights with one‘s parents… #ChildrensClassicRead2024

I don‘t remember exactly how old I was but one Christmas in grade school I received from my mom a box of books. The box contained Fifteen, Jean and Johnny, The Luckiest Girl & many other titles. To this day that has been my most favorite gift ever received. I loved & devoured each book in that box. My first copy of Fifteen looked like the copy to the left. Recently I purchased a new copy and it‘s the one on the right.

I love this story and reread it every so often. It is set in the 50‘s and it‘s neat to see what has changed and what has not, even in regard to dating and love.

When was the last time you thought (and laughed and cringed) about the awkwardness of your first movie theater date? The first time a crush met your parents? The first time you TOTALLY miscommunicated with a crush? It doesn‘t get much more nostalgic and escapist (and — again — cringey) than memories like these, and i invite you to indulges them with me as I unpack Beverly Cleary‘s FIFTEEN on my podcast this week. 😍 listen at the link in my bio!

Oh how I loved this book when I was about 15. This was such a nostalgic read for me and a reminder why Beverly Cleary was such a beloved author. Even after all these years the story resonates with the innocence of first love. #weremember #beverlycleary @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs

After a recent shopping spree in which I may have over indulged (all books purchased not included in the photo; they wouldn‘t all fit), I‘ve agreed to try buying 1 book for every fifteen read. Think that‘ll work? Send positive thoughts and willpower...

This is one of my favorites from when I was a teen. It was written over 30 years before I was even born, but I love how much I identified with Jane. She was so plucky and wanted to be liked, but was also brave enough to be herself. I love the scene where she wants to take flowers to her bf in the hospital! I have re-read this book many times, and still love it. #throwbackThursday

Got my stack of books to choose from for the #throwbackreadathon, I'm not going to read all of them but I can't wait to get into some!!!!! These have been at my parents house since I was young and a few years ago I brought them to my house just because but now they have a purpose!!!! Can't wait to see what others are going to read!

I ❤️ the #🎨 on these vintage covers. #protest #15 #emojinov #novemberbythenumbers #quotsynov17

Totally multitasking today. I'm a major #listlover when it comes to my reading, and I use an Excel sheet to track multiple categories. You can see two of the #marvelousmemoirs I've read this year (#TalkingAsFastAsICan and #ScrappyLittleNobody), and I brought out my old paperbacks of #Fifteen and #TheLuckiestGirl which make it onto my list almost every single year. #teenspirit #FallIntoBooks #AwesomeAutummBooks #AutumnReads

Ah, THANK YOU my beautiful bunch of book weirdos.
I would be lost without you.

I remember loving Jane who was always the good girl. If I tried to go out of bounds, I got caught. A special moment is when her date takes out for a hamburger after being confused by a Chinese menu. I could have seen myself in a similar scenario. Naive, nervous & awed by the fact that a boy liked me. #fridayfunfact @Liberty
