Dark topic and it delves into Sara‘s past. I like how it built. From not knowing for sure if a crime was committed, to wondering if it was related to another incident, to building a case that it might go deeper than anyone expected. Sara remembering Jeffrey and how what happened to her colored their relationship and Will‘s connection to her during the investigation brought a lot of depth to the story as well. Look forward to the next installment.

Fifteen years ago, Sara Linton‘s life changed forever when a celebratory night out ended in a violent attack that tore her world apart. Since then, Sara has remade her life. A successful doctor, engaged to a man she loves, she has finally managed to leave the past behind her. Until one evening, everything changes. Sara battles to save a young woman who‘s been brutally attacked. But it becomes clear that the assault is uncannily linked to Sara‘s.

This is probably my least favorite of the series. The plot dragged, and I have so many questions left unanswered. As always, I love the dynamic between Will, Faith, and Amanda. I just expected more - I still feel like I need a shower after reading it, but the overall reading experience fell flat.

MicheleinPhilly I always feel like I need a shower after her books and then I don‘t read another one for 6-12 months. 7mo
DGRachel @MicheleinPhilly I‘ve been reading about one a month catching up on the series. I‘m caught up now, so I will have a break until the next publishes. 7mo
robinb I‘ve thought about starting this series. I‘ve never read anything by this author. Can I ask what your “shower” reference is to? 7mo
DGRachel @robinb Her books tend to be violent and graphic. Several have killers who are sexual sadists and there are some scenes that I wish I could scrub from my memory. 7mo
robinb @DGRachel That‘s what I thought you might mean. Yikes! Thanks for the heads up. 7mo

Too much information, not enough action or “mystery” as it was described. This 400 page book could have been written in 200…

The big reveal at the end occurred over 2 pages answering all of the questions in a neat little bow. No climax.

I‘ve heard lots of good things about this series but it fell flat for me.

ME TIME! My wonderful husband is watching our two young girls as I sit in my bedroom and start this one…coffee in hand ☕️

After a really long week and constantly being on the go, it feels so nice to have a little down time for myself.

I must not have been paying attention before starting this novel because I didn‘t realize this was part of a long standing series 🤦🏼‍♀️. Luckily I didn‘t feel lost in the plot, although it was clear that you‘d have a better appreciation for the characters and their connections if you‘d read the earlier books. The story was quite dark and graphic at times so I would recommend you check trigger warnings if you need to. It‘s hard to say I ⬇️

candc320 Cont‘d: enjoyed this given the topic but it was thought-provoking and the characters felt very real. I‘ll definitely check out more books in the series! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 10mo

This is the 11th book in the Will Trent Series, which is a sequel to the 6 book Grant County Series and I have loved them all (including the TV show). Slaughter does not shy away from dark and brutal crimes, but has also developed wonderful multifaceted characters. The fact that I have not tired of them is a credit to the fascinating stories Slaughter creates. This one deals with a series of brutal rapes and I could not put it down. 4.5/5 stars!

I almost returned this audio unread after realizing it was book 11 in a series I haven‘t read. But I gave it a go and was drawn in right away. It was obvious characters had backstories, but that didn‘t distract from the currents story. In fact, dang, now I‘ve just added 10 books to my TBR!

5feet.of.fury It‘s a great series! 1y
5feet.of.fury Glad it worked for you as a stand alone, I was thinking she would be smart to make a new starting point now that there‘s a TV show 1y
marleed @5feet.of.fury I didn‘t even realize there was a tv show about until I finished the book. I have to give KS kudos for pulling me in. And I‘m laughing at myself for being so oblivious to this work! 1y

GinaKButler My favorite series! If I possibly had a book boyfriend, it would be Will Trent. 😂 1y
CoverToCoverGirl I‘m reading this one now! I‘ve been on the edge of my seat for the last couple of days. It‘s chilling and very dark. 1y
marleed @CoverToCoverGirl oh same here, and I was not the least bit distracted when I realized there were backstories unknown to me. That‘s just really good writing! 1y
CoverToCoverGirl @marleed if you are seriously considering reading her books start with the Grant County series first. That series continues with the Will Trent series. Continuity is a huge part of both series because there are huge spoilers if read out of order. She writes a complex ongoing storyline. Knowing the character‘s backstory stories makes this one even better for Slaughter fans. I‘m blown away by this one .. it‘s chilling. 1y
marleed @CoverToCoverGirl oh that‘s great to know. Thank you so much! 1y

Another great addition to the Slaughter shelf 😂
I‘m glad we got to see Sara confront her past, since this event shaped her life & we have been hearing about it since book 1 of Grant County, it‘s shaped her relationships, it‘s why she is where she is doing what she is doing. I wish there was a little recap of Will‘s family, because I had forgotten & it played a big role in a side plot. Loved the ending. Looooved it.

GinaKButler My favorite series! Soooooo good! 1y

Karin Slaughter has yet to disappoint me with her books. They are always the perfect combination of mystery, action, and darkness.

I liked that this one took us back into Sara's past and gave more insight into who she was and the tragic event that changed her world.

Another great page turner from the Queen of gritty crime novels. 💚

Fifteen years ago Sara Linton was viciously attacked, it destroyed her life and changed her forever.
Since that night Sara has worked hard to move on and has a career as a successful doctor, she is engaged and on the surface seems to have moved on.
Until one evening she is on duty and is called upon to save the life of a young lady who has been brutally attacked.
But this case has all the hallmarks of what happened to Sara that night.

So Faith‘s new man, Aiden, just mentioned that he never did cocaine because of what happened to Regina Morrow in Sweet Valley High, which is the SAME reason I‘ve never done the devil‘s dandruff! Also, I was on the Reading Team in high school, not really the cocaine crowd. I‘ve never even had the opportunity to say no, but I would have! RIP Regina!

MidnightBookGirl Just for the curious it was #40. I‘m still not over it as she was one of my favorite SVH characters and made Bruce not be a total dick for a book or two. 1y

MidnightBookGirl @CBee so I found several other people online who were also scared straight by Regina Morrow‘s cocaine death. We aren‘t alone! 1y
CBee @MidnightBookGirl and I mean, I totally had friends who did coke, but I ALWAYS thought of Regina and never did. She definitely got the message across for me! 1y

Bk10 of July & Bk2 of #JubilantJuly #readathon is done. Wow. I had to take a minute to recover from this one, it‘s heartbreaking & devastating. BIG TW for Violence against Women, if you‘ve ever been SA I would gird yourself well before reading. That said, it‘s still one of the best she‘s written. Slaughter has never shied from the awfulness we humans do to each other, but she adds enough hope to keep you going. 10⭐️ #BookspinBingo #SeriesLove2023

Halfway through this Collectors Edition of the new Will Trent for #JubilantJuly #readathon and I‘m not feeling very jubilant. This is dark. Really dark. Massive trigger warnings for Violence against Women, in every form. But she writes it so compellingly you can‘t stop reading. Pretty sure I‘ll be doing a long cry after this one.

5feet.of.fury I am impatiently waiting for the US release. Love that special edition 😍 1y

4½✨

This felt like catching up with old friends.
I love the dynamic Slaughter created between four of my favourite characters (Will, Sara, Faith and of course Amanda)
Even with this very dark, disturbing and sad topic I couldn't put down the book! Slaughter knows how to capture her audience.

Can hardly wait to meet my friends again in the new one.
And I know it might be a long wait.

Wow I love this series so much and was really looking forward to reading this. Its very dark and does deal with some very triggering themes but I think it handles it well and shows some interesting persepectives. Esepecially between Sara and Sloane. The plot is a slower burn but it does fit with the story and wow what an ending. I had an idea but how it all came together was brilliant. #Netgalley #ReadersFirst 5*
