Sadly this book started out strong with the creepy cop and creepy house in the middle of nowhere but then it just went downhill. Another couple along with some other characters gets introduced and the flow of the writing gets confusing. I didn‘t know what or who was going on in parts. I took this book with me on a two week vacation and only picked it up twice. A sign to #hailtothebail

Two troubled couples find themselves trapped in a strange house in the middle of nowhere. They later find out that the house is owned by a masked psychopath, and the only way out is to play his gruesome game. As the characters try to escape, they grapple with their pasts, struggle with the strained relationships they have with each other, and examine the relationships they have with themselves and God. This book touches on the reality of the ...

If you like faith based books that keep you on the edge of your seat, and aren't afraid ... 4y

This supernatural thriller, coauthored by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker, is written in the third person omniscient point of view. I have read a few books from Ted Dekker and enjoyed them. This is my first from Frank Peretti. I thought the concept of this book was interesting even though I didn‘t think the book was outstanding. Definitely worth a read though. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

House doesn‘t really seem like the type of #home I would want to live in. Have you read this one? I‘ve been told it is satisfyingly creepy. What‘s the creepiest book you‘ve ever read? #springintoreading @vkois88 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Lizzybennetgirl Ted Dekker is an interesting author! Ive read some of his Circle Series and I always thought this book would be a good read. 6y
abookishbutterfly @Lizzybennetgirl The only thing I‘ve read by him was The Bride Collector. I didn‘t care much for that one but a lot of people have encouraged me to give him another chance. A friend sent me this one. I have a few books in storage by him. They are from a series - maybe the Circle series - but I haven‘t read them yet. I do hope I‘ll like this one! 6y

1. Tagged book. I haven‘t read that many scary books yet, but House was definitely atmospheric and creepy enough to make me read it in daylight.
2. Ghost Ship. Accidentally saw parts of it when I was 7. The wire 😰 that‘s all I‘ll say.
3. My Dad had/has some serious health issues last year. In and out of the ER constantly with heart and breathing issues and they couldn‘t/can‘t figure out what was/is wrong 😞
4. You!

RainyDayReading @LoveToReadLiveToRead Thank you! Sorry to hear about your Dad, it‘s always hard to cope when it‘s a family member. They‘ve found half the problems but haven‘t discovered the cause of everything 😪 but he‘s stable for now and I get to keep him around that much longer. 7y
RainyDayReading @tpixie Thank you! He‘s doing better now but it‘s still an uphill battle to figure out the cause of everything. Especially when the solution so far has been “here take this pill that may or may not make you worse!” 🙄 7y
RainyDayReading @JessClark78 Thanks! I remember the wire and the maggots and that‘s all. I can‘t even tell you what the movie is about haha 🤣 that wire though. Cringe worthy. 7y

It's late and I can't believe I actually stayed up to finish this. I'm struggling to put all my negative thoughts on this into words so let me just sum it up by saying that the only good thing I can find to say about this book is that the cover looks cool.

ptkpepe98 That makes me sad, because I am a fan of Ted Seller's books. I got one of Frank Perretti's as part of a box, and haven't read it yet. Hopefully it's just this collaboration. 7y
GatheringBooks awww.. too bad. :( 7y
danibolahood @ptkpepe98 I haven't read either author before but from the reviews I read most people liked their individual books and disliked this one. 7y
danibolahood @GatheringBooks at least it got me out of a slump and I finished it. Evidently I just needed something to hate read lol 7y
GatheringBooks @danibolahood well that works, too! ;) 7y

I've been in a reading slump all week and I'd really like to get out of it. I'm not sure a random library find with questionable reviews is going to break it but it's the only thing calling me right now.

readsusieread Ooh this is a flash from the past! I read this years ago. It has some religious/spiritual stuff going on if I remember correctly. 7y

Happy Thursday friends! It's almost the weekend; get excited! Today's #JulyofDisney prompt is "Scream extractor - scary book" & I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share a book by two of my favorite authors, Frank Peretti & Ted Dekker. I absolutely love Dekker, I've read almost every novel he's ever written. House is by far one of my favorite thrillers; it's absolutely chilling.

Do you like scary books? What's your preferred genre?

LauraLovesLiterature Also, many, if not all, of Dekker's books fall under the category of religious fiction, which I personally enjoy, but I know it's not for everyone 7y
georgianicolaoublog This looks terrifying. I actually haven't tried to read a scary book, as it becomes much more real in your head. I would love to read some Stephen King though 7y

LauraLovesLiterature @georgianicolaoublog Stephen King is awesome! The Dark Tower is a really good place to start if you're looking to ease your way in to some scary stuff. It is a series though, and it's quite long. He's also done some really great short story collections as well. Night Shift is one of my favorites. 7y
Bekahlee10 Loved that one 7y

☠☠ Reads just like a B-rated horror flick. The supernatural twist is a little bit extreme.

I've only read four King books to date, and posted a pic of my favorite (11/22/63) yesterday. So I decided to post an #alltimefavorite of mine from the Christian fiction authors most similar to Stephen King, Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. I love them both, and remember thinking it was the coolest thing EVER when they coauthored a book! #stephenking17

KimM Peretti's book This Present Darkness is one of the scariest books I've read. 😳 8y
Celeste57 @KimM That's my favorite Peretti book! Terrifying, but lots of food for thought. 8y
WordWaller I was SUPER into these authors when I was high school. I read so much Ted Dekker! 8y
